About
The Amelia River Club is located on Amelia Island, just north of Jacksonville and within minutes of the historic town of Fernandina Beach. Renowned as one of the best-conditioned courses in the area with incredibly smooth greens, sculpted around a forest of majestic Live Oaks, Sable Palms, Pines and Wax Myrtles.
This par 72 track, designed by Tom Jackson, plays to a yardage of 6,878 from the back tees. It's pristine condition features well manicured rolling fairways, smooth bunkers and greens that challenge all skill levels. This course is unique in character and is a treat to play.
The Amelia River consists of 18 holes of challenging golf where ball control and accuracy are keys to a great game. The fairways are wide and open, giving the golfer a sense of a traditional Scottish links course on some holes and a narrow tree lined experience on others. The 13th hole is a good example of the course’s challenges. This long par five runs along the border of the Fernandina Beach Airport and is a strategic three shot hole. Too long and left at lay up and you will have to deal with a water hazard. The wind can play havoc with this hole as it reminds one of an open links style design. In contrast #9 is a tree lined par four with very little room for error and includes a forced carry over Alligator Creek.
The signature 17th hole is a par three surrounded by water demanding an accurate shot to the island green which closely resembles another very famous golf hole in our area! The final hole ends at the edge of the Amelia River and its expansive tidal marsh.

Keeps Getting Better
This was my first round at the River in about a year. Things keep improving. The new pro shop is great, the addition of a beverage cart was good although she forgot my request for one of their fabulous chocolate chip cookies.
I was sorry to see the big tree in front of the green on #2 was taken down. I would rather they lost some on 9 and 18. The greens by the airport had a lot of poa in them, but otherwise course conditions keep improving.

Course in excellent shape
Such a great round. Course in awesome shape. Tees overseeded well. Greens smooth and rolling great. Couldn’t find anything wrong with the day except pace of play was a little slow but not horrible. Their new pro shop and fitting bays are awesome looking. I’ll definitely be back to play again.

Best value on Amelia Island
This is my favorite Club when we come down from NY. The staff is friendly and helpful. I enjoy walking the course with the 1:00 walkers. They are friendly and accommodating. The course layout is challenging but forgiving for higher handicapped golfers as well. The new owners have made a big investment on a new dining facilities, pro shop and performance center and their commitment to providing the best experience is evident.
I play at Amelia Island River Course weekly and always enjoy the challenge and company. The Staff is excellent. Highly recommend.

Great Layout
Enjoyed the course and wildlife. Range balls were way overpriced.
The course should lower the cost as it’ was a downer and the first customer reaction should not be a negative one!

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We played at a good pace without feeling rushed. The greens were in good condition especially for February.

We wanted to golf another course outside of the Omni Plantation & this looked like the best one. Course was fun & challenging.

Course once again was in very good shape. Staff as always very friendly and helpful. Pace of play was a bit slower than normal due to earlier groups causing a slight back up. We will return.

Nice layout
Course is nice and I liked the layout. Some challenging holes and some storable ones. Greens were mostly very good. One or two greens had some different grasses in them that made those couple of greens a bit bumpy. Fairways were a bit sparse (February) and roped off on 4-5 holes which required mor walking. Overall.I would play again.
