Hillside golf at its best. Brilliant scenic views, some very interesting holes.
I played this course about 5 years ago, and it is in much better condition now than I remember it then.
In general the course rewards accuracy off the tee, you're lucky to find anything in the rough. Approach shots, which often feature significant elevation changes require good judgment of distance. I found the greens to play a little slow, but consistent.
The first hole is a steep up slope dogleft to left, and the views back down towards Strathblane from the first green are brilliant. For me the most interesting stretch of holes is from 9-15, where the course reaches up to the foot of Campsie Fell. Hole 13 in particular which is as unusual a hole as you will find in the central belt, but not at all contrived, incorporates as hazards the landslide contours of the surroundings, the hillside equivalent of "pure links". In the evening light from the West it looks even better. There are some other fantastic parkland courses in the area, but Campsie has something a little extra to it, Glencruitten and Dunaverty would be other similarly unusual challenges which spring to mind.
One of the main factors is having to recover your breath before you tee off! This is a course for the fit golfer, they do buggies though. Note that they don't open the desk all week, so if you want a buggy call ahead a few days in advance to arrange. Otherwise the greenkeepers will get one out for you and you can pay cash into the honesty box.
Good condition. Far too many hills which is very off putting. Sign posts for the next tees are an absolute disgrace leaves you lost as to where to find the next hole. Ended up missing out on 2 holes due to this.
The most picturesque course I have played
I hadn’t played campsie golf course for several years but it was still as enjoyable as I remember. Plays longer than it’s 5500 yards with tricky greens.
Views are stunning. Course was in as good a condition as I have ever seen it. Brilliant round of golf.
Little gem
Lovely afternoon playing on this beautiful course. Felt very welcomed by all present. Vey unpretentious and genuine local club feel to this place. Will definitely return.
Hilly
Hilly but not unexpected as you are right on the foot of the campsites. Good layout, testing. Friendly staff. Would definitely play again.
Great condition course
Fantastic condition. Fairways and greens were immaculate. Obviously well looked after. Nice open fairways, especially useful with a gale force wind and a slice like mine 😀
First time playing the course and would definately go back.
Would recommend to a friend any day
Last minute game
Half decent course
Very hilly great view s but need a map to navigate
Very small greens and I played 75 shots on a par 70
And the slope rating gave me 10 over
But good wee course for £20 ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Course is in great condition not one bad fairway. Staff very friendly. Very hilly (keep the high balls low) 😂 and very windy recommend buggy. Challenging course.
Wee gem
Great wee course in great condition, some holes were a bit hilly and some others needing better signage but overall loved playing here.
Great views
What a gem of a wee course, need your hiking boots for some holes and better signage for others but still a great course
Tough walk
Lovely course, lovely layout, condition of course was excellent.got confused looking for 2 nd tee.think you have to be reasonably fit to get round this hilly wee course.
Nice course
Nice course, not long but some tricky holes especially the par 3s. Unfortunately for us the greens had just been hollow tined and sanded so where not in the best condition when I played. The fairways where in great condition so a good indicator that the course is well looked after.
Swamp
Dangerously wet under foot extremely slow play play due to two ignorant players taking forever
Great course
Played in frosty weather and even then course was in great condition, all greens in play no temp greens. Very good value for money.
Absolute gem in the Campsie Hills.
I live half an hour away so often pop up for a round- its generally quiet with great pace of play. The course is quirky and hilly but that's what I like. Some great views and decent greens for a January. If the club offered an "off peak" or "second club" membership I'd definitely sign up.
Amazing
Amazing course, well kept, fast greens great view, really friendly staff & members
A Gem!
Loved it. Played like a wounded donkey but the course is just lovely. Going to play again ASAP,
Great course with a view
Cracking course that sits at the foot of the campsie hills, the course is well maintained and has great technical parts on the back 9. I've played this course a few times now and never get sick of it though it doesn't have a pro shop or a real clubhouse. The inn on the green is located at it and serves good food and drinks but isn't always open
