Really Good layout
Played Independent and Chester. Enjoyed both 9's. Course was in good shape for winter. Need to move tee makers more often. Teeing area had lots of divot holes. This was my 7th time playing Mt Vintage and I will play her again.
Fun course to play
Have played here many times and love the variety of hole, slope of courses, perfect greens, great practice area, and always well maintained. Friendly staff as well.
Course was pretty wet and carts were on paths. Tough walk for 75 year old as paths are not near fairway. Very hilly course.
A little wet
As always, this course is a pleasure to play. A lot of rain lately made for some soggy fairways. Other than that, greens and tee boxes and course in general were very good. Outstanding practice facility.
Heaven
Totally perfect. Course. Greens. Layout. Clubhouse. Locker room. Grille. Range. Everything. If lived within 2 hours of here I would be a member and home owner.
Hidden First Class Golf and Facility
What a gem. First class in every aspect. Perfect. Phenomal layout and facility. Paid $160 for a round at places not as nice as this. Must see. Must go. Bucket list course. As good of golf as Sage Valley or Champions Retreat.
Beautiful course
Played with my wife. Daughter and son in law. A great day of golf even though it was cool and wet with cart paths only. Will definitely be back in the spring or summer. Remember this course from years ago when the LPGA played there. A country gem.
Great time
It was absolutely beautiful. Will definetly be back again. Excellent staff. Everything was great, from the players to the conditions of the course. Highly satisfied
amazing
My 8th time playing here thanks to golfnow. The course was in great condition, and the greens were perfect.I love the variation of the course it has lots of elevation changes, and very few holes resemble another.I highly recommend everone get on golfnow and book a round.
Aeration alert would have been nice
The greens had just been aerated and were extremely furry. This made for a few long putts that were impossible to hit hard enough to get to the hole. I've played one time before at Mt. Vintage when they hadn't aerated and it was decent. Don't play there for a few weeks though. I only paid $25 (thanks golfnow!) but it still wasn't worth it.
CHANGE777
The course is run down quite a bit from what it was 5 years ago. Cart paths are broken up is many places. It. Is a shame Mamet has let it get like this. Some of the greens on Independent were spotty. Overall, greens still looked good. The Deep South is no place for bent grass greens withthenheat we get.
They have let grass grow in many places, obviously to cut down on maintenance. So, if you are not a straight hitter, expect to los many golf balls. Some of the sand traps were good, many were needing sand badly.
amazing exsperience
This is an absolute fantastic course, one of the best golf experiences of my life. A buddy of mine and I went to play here and we have always heard great things about it and let me tell you it exceeded all expectations the course is breathe taking the staff was very friendly and helpful and the course was in great shape I would defiantly recommended to every one I know
Superb setting and spledid golf experience!
We're visiting the area and found The Mount Vintage Plantation Course on GolfNow, sight unseen. The setting was gorgeous! The Vintage 9 was like going back in time to the days of well manicured vegetation and trees surrounding every fairway and green. The Independent 9 had spectacular vistas, a bit more open, but very challenging around the water hazards. What really made our golf day at Mount Vintage Plantation was the Staff. We were greeted by a very cordial gal at the Golf Shop check-in and she referred us to the Attendant for directions to the two courses. The only two things that could be improved would be a course layout on the par card and more choices for energy snacks in The Grill, as golfing in this humidity in September can be difficult to acclimate. Enjoyed it immensely! Thx MVP!!
Mount vintage
Great course in great shape. Will test your ability to change shots and adapt
Great Course
I have played this course about 6 times and for the money it's great. The bunkers could use some work but that's it. Would recommend for anyone.
Great Layout
I live one hour and fifteen minutes from this course and I won't hesitate to drive and play it again. The course was in great shape from the tee box to the greens. The staff was very friendly. This is a must play if you live in the area.
Review on the Independent and Chester Courses
This is the first time after using Golf Now that I have ever truly wanted to write a review. This is totally unbiased and how I felt after playing Mt. Vintage yesterday.
- Staff: Extremely welcoming, professional appearance and very helpful given this was my first time at Mt. Vintage.
- Facilities: Very nice and they even had clean bathrooms. Also out on the course there are shelters every few holes complete with a water fountain and men's/women's restrooms. These also were in very very very clean condition.
- Food/Beverage: Had a hot dog and drink at the turn and the staff inside the bar area were very friendly and struck up conversation with us. (Made us feel at home)
Now onto the "Golf" portion.
- Practice Facilities: One of the best I've ever seen. Better than anything in the Columbia area.
- Practice Green/Course: This was when I realized that this isn't tif-way greens. It's Bentgrass. Let me tell you, these greens are TRUE, SOFT, and very good. I found that the speed of the course greens were the same speed as the practice green which is very important to me in preparing to play.
- Independent Course: Absolutely Perfect. Nothing here I can critique. I shot 4-Over here.
- Chester Courss: Almost Perfect: A few of the bunkers are in need of some re-working. (Only Reason for 4 vs 5 stars)
All in all I will be making the hour drive from Columbia a lot more often for this true gem of a golf course.
Beautiful, picturesque & challenging golf course!!
I have been wanting to go over and play this course for quite some time. It is about 90 miles from my house but decided to go and try it after seeing a great deal on GolfNow for a 12:30 PM tee time on Saturday, August 1, 2015. Mount Vintage Plantation has 3 9-hole courses so you may want to be prepared for extra holes! The course is extremely picturesque, challenging & in great condition. Pace of play was also good but that is probably because of mid-day tee time though. I would definitely recommend in making the drive over to play this jewel of a course!! You will not be disappointed, I assure you of that. Make sure that you take extra balls because for the majority of golfers, you will need them! Staff was very friendly and overall, it was a great day of golf for me with a 72. Definitely recommended!!
Great Course
Played this course in the hot of the summer and have to say it was in great shap. The track is one of the best around and give you a good opportunity to shape the ball. Everything is well manicured, with the fairways being some of the best around.
The greens are super receptive, but show signs of significant ball repair, this is due to the type of grass that needs to be kept at a lower temperature, therefore, the course has fans and waters the greens throughout the day leading to the greens being sofg. The greens play slow but for the most part true.
Nice layout and fair
Not to far from Evans.ga where I live and the course is not a hard layout and in pretty good shape. Range balls were included at no extra charge which save you money. GolfNow had a good price and saved about $10.00 off regular price.
Great value.
I've been fortunate to have played most public courses within 60 miles from my home, and I will assure you Mt. Vintage plantation courses are at the top of my list to play again. I am an avid golfer who appreciates a good challenge and I got one!
