The tricky 14th Photo submitted by u314161540661 on 06/20/2021
Hayston golf course
Hayston is a good course and has some really challenging holes but at this moment in tome there are no distance markers on any holes and no ball cleaners at the tees.
Wow that was good
I was fortunate in pairing with a member who was able to be pleasant and useful without being overly chatty.
The staff were quite good as well.
However the star of the show was the course. Well kept by well managed squad of greenskeepers. There were plenty of interesting holes and absolutely nothing that detracted from the experience. Pace of play was ideal. The greens had no ball marks and although they were much slower than I was used to, they were true and fair.
If you desire a premium experience at GolfNow rates, this is the place in the Glasgow area.
Superb!
For late April course was in amazing condition. Greens were as good as it gets. Challenging and varied course. not too hilly. Friendly members gave us “first timers” a couple of tips re crossover holes which was appreciated. Only small issue was a couple of directional tee signs could be placed on the back 9 for newbies. And all for £23. Would play again any time!!
A bit boring
Pretty flat, back forward back forward holes, good course for the oldies, or high handicapper, not very challenging, course was wet but still in good condition.
Great coarse, well maintained. Variety of difficulties and a great layout. I would definitely recommend this course.
Great Test of Accuracy
4th time here this year. Staff were very friendly on arrival as usual. let us on earllier than our tee time. Two of us behind a four ball who were very quick and even offered to let us through but tbh didn't need too. Pace was good.
This course is not long but it feels like it. We played off yellow. You need very good drives and sometimes very good follow up shots to make the greens in 2. Greens are immaculate and quite flat but we found that trickier than when obvious gradient. This is a great test. Could've broke 90 here if I didn't fluff last two holes. Ended up 93. I'll be back....
Tricky track
First time played but would defo return. Friendly welcome and all green staff I met along the way were working to present the course in tip top condition. Lots of definition and greens fab. Tricky course with a variety of holes and few holes close or crossing over but well sign posted other than coming off 15 no sign to point you thro trees to 16th tee but not a biggy.
Disappointing
I regularly play at Kirkintilloch which is immaculate. This course is 0.5m away and expected this course to be similar.
Played the course yesterday for the first time. The course itself is very bland and a bit of a slog. The course is very hilly which leads to a lot of blind shots. There were a few nice holes, but overall it's up and down, up and down.
The fairways were in excellent condition. Shame about the rest. Course wasn't well maintained. The greens were awful. I was taken aback at how bad they actually were. Bald patches, sand everywhere, ball didn't run true at all. Was shocked at how bad they were. Really killed my enthusiasm.
Play was extremely slow, but that was understandable given it was a warm, dry day.
Didn't use the facilities, so can't comment on that.
Maybe I was unfortunate and caught the course on a bad day, but it seemed like I was on a public course rather than a private members club.
Won't be back.
Nice course.
Course looking great. Fairways and greens well looked after. A few tricky holes and some great fairways for creaming your T shot 250.
Just need a sign pointing you from 15th to 16th.
Definitely be back.
James Braid Course
Really enjoyed playing Hayston lots of variety in the hole’s especially on a compact site. Par threes are real classics making the right club selection in key here. Braids hogs back is in play also. Greens were a good pace when we played. Overall a very good experience.
Great find!
Wonderful course! Great variety of holes and superbly maintained. Staff and members were very welcoming.
Great course
Very good condition. Greens very well kept and playing well. Some good fun par 3s. Staff and members very friendly and welcoming.
A great course in wonderful condition
I’ve played here a number of times over the years & have never seen it in better condition, a joy to play
Outstanding condition.
One of the best kept coursed I've ever played. Greens were in perfect condition. Great value for money.
Great course to play
I loved all of it. .
I played in a visiting group and was made to feel welcome from everyone I met; from the young guy in the pro shop, the lady behind the bar , the chef who sorted us all out with our pre round nosh and the lady who looked after us when we'd finished in the clubhouse.
The course was typical Braid - some short holes which were well protected, some longer ones, most greens sitting higher than the fairway, quirky par 3s with everything in great condition so well done to the greenkeeper and his team.
I thoroughly recommend Hayston and there are great green fee deals to be had. £25 mid morning is an absolute steal compared to some courses nearby charging over £50.
Gets 9/10 from me......and many of the lads in the party I played with.
