The tricky 14th Photo submitted by u314161540661 on 06/20/2021
Winter greens
Pro Shop closed on arrival. 4 winter greens in play and the 28th was closed for groundworks. Would have been good to know this when booking.
Poor
I was looking forward to playing this course as I hadn't played it for a few years.
Course layout is great but the condition of the course was awful. I understand it was a wet winter but the course was genuinely unplayable at times. Poor drainage and every hole looked like the grass had been relayed. Some parts looked like a cow field.
The course condition alongside slow play in front led to me walking off after the front 9.
Very disappointing more the money paid.
Cant give a fair review as
Winter rules where in use
Course was a nice mix of holes
Green where still great for November
But not very well signed for the winter tees
⭐️⭐️⭐️
Hayston GC
Tee boxes, fairways, greens and bunkers were all superb condition for October. A very warm welcome from the club pro on arrival with some handy course management tips. A nice mix of holes with 5 par 3’s and 3 par 5’s. A couple of holes cross over fairways but adds to the fun. Well worth a visit and the green fee was cheap at £25.
Nice course
Great course. Nice mix of holes and in great condition. The only negative was the fourball in front of us. Caught them on the sixth. On a quiet course would it have been too much for them to let us play through. I know it's not the clubs fault but turned a three hour round into a four and half hour round for us.
Scottish summertime
A cracking course, but lots of surface water on most of the fairways, but still really enjoyed the day out. This added to the challenge for us from the tees,"try and avoid the puddles"
Hayston golf club
A cracking course held up well to recent weather we have had great layout and great pace of play second time I've played this course and took a friend with me who also loved the course well worth the 30 pound golf now was charging will definitely be back
Poor customer service
We were 5 mins late for or 5.15 tea off time to be told by a member that we should go to the 10th and start there as they had a 4 ball goung ot on a medal match , which we obliged as we were late, then we were approched by the pro in a golf cart to say we coyld not do this and to go bqck to tue second and start there , which proved also too busy,
We then got re started at 6.15 back on the first inbetween more match play 4balls and a 2 ball behind us
I can only suggest that if the club is giving out tee times on golf now app for obvioulsy a round of golf for a 4bball paying £25 each that it is not at 5pm in the middle of allot of compition play as we felt so welcome hospitality at all ajd actually ended up only playing 9 holes
Lovely little course
Course itself was immaculate, greens and fairways manicured and plenty of greenskeepers about. There was quite a bit of rain but the course took the water well and there were no boggy or waterlogged sections.
Pro shop staff very helpful, clubhouse didn't open until 10 but coffee available from pro shop was a nice touch. We ate food afterwards, and it was very reasonably priced, tasted great and portion sizes were large. No range but net, putting green and practice area all available. Overall a great experience, would definitely return, and a bargain at £25/30
Hidden Gem
Played this course before the Open. Wasn’t expecting much as we booked last minute. When arrived at the club house we were a bit underwhelmed. The clubhouse could do with a bit of updating but I think that’s like most golf courses. When we serrated playing we were blown away by the conditions. The greens and bunkers were in perfect conditions. The course was very interesting and presented some good challenges. Really impressed with this course and would definitely reccomend to others. Well worth the price. Would probably have paid double the price and still have felt it was value for money.
Hayston golf
Could not fault our golf day. The condition of the course was superb. Fairways and greens were perfect. Can’t wait to play again.
