Tough Course!

We played last night and course was quiet. Had played before but a long time ago and only remembered a few holes.

Good layout and the course in good condition. Greens a little slower than the course I play regularly. However, ran well and maybe were just due a cut.

A lot of tight holes with trees to either side and a few holes with water features. Suits a straight hitter - that is for sure!

Would definitely return later in the summer.

Awful

Nice Course unfortunately give yourself 5hrs to complete it. Random golfers appearing out of nowhere. 4 balls with one set of clubs. Tee times are non existent.

Nice challenge, needs to deal with slow play

I’ve been playing course for years now. Few holes have been made a bit easier but still a challenge. Lot of holes need to be fairly accurate. Some nice par 3s. 11th is a signature par 3, downhill and over water. It’s a good walk round. On decent day you’ll enjoy round and walk.

Issue is with some players unfortunately:

- lazy at putting divots back, fixing greens

- slow play

On the latter, the perfect example was a fourball in front of us two weeks back on 12th. They must have been playing a scramble. One boy ran off from midway to around green. 2 had hit. One stood for ages then randomly decided to hit. Th other lad runs back, drops a ball and hits. Absolute shenanigans. Feel it needs better enforced and more education ie stop mincing about looking for balls. Play when you can in a group, no need to wait.

All round, it’s a good day out though.

Value for money

Fantastic value for money- only thing that could be improved is the signage between holes.

Greens were still to be cut following the winter, were hard to putt consistently on.

Course layout could do with better sign posting but the course has a few tricky holes and would play again in the summer once dried out and mown

No score card

Had to play my round without a score card as there was no one at the golf store on the ground as it was all locked up without access and all other staff had no idea why it was closed

Great course

A long, quite hilly course, in very good condition for the time of year. Winter mats but no winter greens today, and very quiet.

Winter Golf

Played on 28th Dec, course was in good condition for that amount of rain that's fell in December. Some parts were a bit wet and marshy underfoot but it was mostly good . The greens really held up well and when we arrived the staff gave us a winter mat to use on the fairways, we played in-between 2 four balls who all played at an acceptable pace and both groups were really friendly whenever our paths crossed.

Dougalston in rainy days

Carpet needed, provided by the proshop

The surrounding beautiful…but it is not a recommended course to play on rainy days…mud everywhere, not good (indeed it does not exist) , a water drainage. The greens where in good condition, despite the rain… so you decide, very cheap and convenient GC….with winter downsides.
