The Golf Club at North Hampton
About
The Golf Club at North Hampton offers a traditional Scottish links-style course right in northeast Florida. Designed by Arnold Palmer, the layout meanders through dramatic elevation changes of over 40 feet and ten spring-fed lakes lined with coquina boulders. Sprawled across rolling hills and wild grasses, the golf course is sculpted from beautiful Florida woodlands, offering a round that is as scenic as it is challenging. The Golf Club at North Hampton's hard-to-read greens are massive and move very quickly. There are also tight fairways, many of which feature blind approaches. To make it even trickier, strong winds often sweep through the course, some even reaching a speed of 30 miles an hour.

North Hampton
Golf course was in very good condition and staff very friendly. We got off on time and course played well
Very disappointed
Played the course in early March, the course was in poor condition. Albeit the winter was tough. Greens were very frost damaged and rough. I gave the course a second chance in late April. Green were terrible ! I asked the pro shop if the course has improved since March and his response was, "the course is in good shape". I stopped at the putting green and it was all damaged and rough. The course was in terrible shape ! No point of having descent fairways if the greens are no good when you get there. I wouldn't recommend this course at this time.
Beautiful course but in very bad shape.
Sand traps were undergoing work on the first 5 holes so they were unplayable. However, the other sand traps were hard as a rock, and basically unplayable. But the most disappointing issue was the condition of the greens....full of sand and dead grass that made your putt bounce along once you hit it, making putting all but impossible.
We did have the bunkers on holes #1-#6 marked as ground under repair due to the bunker renovation. As you clearly mentioned, the other "sand traps were hard as a rock". This is the big reason for the bunker renovation. #1-#6 will be completed by the end of the week, and we will be moving forward with the project.
Stay Away For a While Longer
Fantastic layout but they butchered the greens and let the sand traps go. Greens seem to be coming back a bit but still an embarrassment. Glad all I paid was a hot deal rate of $35. The course is not ready for prime time. A shame, as it use to be well worth the trip. Still a great track, but stay away for at least another 3 months... .maybe more.
The Golf Club of North Hampton
-no starter at 1st tee
-pace of play was very slow
-no ranger or marshal ever seen on course to assist with slow play
-front none greens in bad condition just as the putting green is
Difficult but fair course
Really good layout. Real premium on shots into the greens. Very few bailout areas. Some greens are recovering from a winter fungus and front nine bunkers are being rebuilt. Will be a great track when the greens recover and the bunker project is completed. Staff was friendly. Will definitely go back.
Great hot deal on once great course
North Hampton is a great course, but all the greens are sandy, slow, and bumpy. The staff stated that they coming back from a fungus. The greens have always been very fast and a true challenge, hopefully they will make a comeback.
Make sure you get a hot deal, paying full price would be a bummer.
Not advised about heavily sanded greens
We were disappointed to find each and every green - including the practice green - covered with a thick layer of sand. Putting was very frustrating and there was lots of sand stuck to the ball and our hands after every hole. Other courses seem to rotate their sanding so only a portion of the greens are being worked on at any time and the sand is certainly not anywhere near this deep.
We were not advised about this course condition when booking and it doesn’t appear that we were given any kind of discount. We visit this area for a month every year and were looking forward to a nice outing at North Hampton, a course we had yet to play. Unfortunately it did not turn out that way.
Courses that top dress over multiple days have greens that are less playable for a longer time. We like to get it all done on one day so it can be watered and dragged in and back to normal much faster. Our rates were not raised to peak season rates due to the slow recovery from a long winter.
COURSE GREEN AND SANDTRAPS ARE IN BAD SHAPE
The course layout is great but the current condition of the Greens and some of the sand traps are in bad shape. The greens are bumpy and spotty with fungi infestation. A number of the sandtraps are under repair and have some gravel laid at the bottom of the trap.
Will not recommend the course in its current condition.
You need to have the gravel at the bottom for drainage. The bunkers being repaired are currently Ground Under Repair, so there is free relief from any ball coming to rest in them.
Greens in rough shape
My group has been playing this course for about 4-5 years now, and right now it's in the poorest condition I've seen it in. This is still a great layout and fun course, but the greens are almost unputtable. The issue my playing partners had the most trouble with was the price, if you know you're having course condition issues the rate should reflect that, paying full price and seeing those greens was tough to handle.
Walrus golfer
Course is nice layout but greens are not in the best of shape. They are sparse in some areas and very bumpy. Fix this issue and it will be a good tract.
almost great
Course layout was interesting and fun.
Greens and tee areas need some attention.
Would definitely play again.
Awful greens
I've been playing this course with a group since September. The greens have never been right and often they are terrible. Putting is one-third of the game. What's the point if the greens are blotched, pitted and diseased? This is not worth what they charge.
We noticed you played in March but posted this in late April. We've been in the best shape of any course in the area since mid April and have only gotten better. Don't be shy about a return trip.
