Tahoe Donner Golf Club

About
Located high in the Sierra among towering pines and meandering creeks, Tahoe Donner Golf Club is a scenic mountain course that is a member of the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary program. The front nine of the golf course moves clockwise while the back nine moves in reverse, providing an interesting change of pace. The unique layout features narrow fairways that are lined with trees and large, undulating greens that putt true and fast. There are bunkers strategically placed throughout and a water hazard comes into play on the last hole. Dramatic elevation changes afford views of the mountainous countryside and the abundant wildlife that call Tahoe Donner Golf Club home.

Tahoe Donner Review
Course was in great condition and it is a beautiful course and interesting to play. Always seems to get backed up but not too bad on this occasion. Usually I have to skip holes in frustration.
This tree-lined course is a gem in High Sierra.
I played in a four ball flight in a cool afternoon. As expected, accuracy off the tee was a must in this scenic course. The condition of the fairway was pristine but the greens were patchy at places but all in all, they were well-maintained. The wind got up in the back nine. Distance control became harder to manage. Unfortunately, the course plan on the score card was not helpful at all. I had to rely on the experience of my playing partners whom I had met for the first time. I enjoyed the course.
Challenging Fun
The staff was extremely friendly, the greens were in great shape and as fast as you would want it. The course was nice and lush. The view were outstanding and it was just a fund course I want to play again.
Beautiful setting challenging but not overly so. Service excellent
Great course. Greens are super hard for my level. Hard and fast.
Can't beat the beauty of the course.
Majestic, Clean Cut, and Creative shots. Best Course in Tahoe
I snuck in on a great deal. A steal if you ask me. The course was in great shape, fast greens, challenging approach shots, and a great game of mountain golf. The club house is split into three very convenient parts (Dinning and Bar, The Pro Shop, And the Snack Shop). You can call in food between hole 8 and 9 and they leave you a menu out there should you not have a smart phone to look it up yourself. There website needs some serious work because it does the rest of the course, and the experience of playing here, no justice.
The scenary is beautiful.
The course is in great shape. The greens were a little hard to read.
Great course, especially woman/senior friendly. Forward tee's make pars more than accessible. Bathrooms are strategically placed.
Hoping to beat the heat in Tahoe, thinking it might be cooler a bit higher up, we decided to try the Donner course rather than Tahoe City. We didn't beat the heat, however it was still an excellent decision.
Lush green fairways, not too fast, not too slow greens, and no out of bounds (a feature my husband found useful), made the day super enjoyable. Definitely a course worth playing for golfers of any ability.
It also has a family friendly feel. Speed of play was good even with the grandfather and grandson in front of us. Grandpa was clearly giving lessons, sometimes playing more than 1 ball. We value this in a course, what a great way to get kids into the game!
windy day
Got there and the wind was blowing about 70 mph, asked if we could get a wind check ( rain check) and was told that because we booked through Golfnow we had to play or loose our money. The course was in great shape for this early in the season and besides not allowing us to rebook our round for a more calm day the service was good and we had lunch in the pub and it was very good
They need to fix the greens, we heard they lost some to freeze a year or two ago. Would not go back.
The greens at Donner were all over the map as far as speed. Some had to be 16-14+ on the stimp with 12 ft putts rolling 30 by off the greens and others were 11 -12 (okay) and 9-10 - slow. They ruined our round. Too many really good courses in Truckee to come back.
great greens
Given it was late fall..course was in fairly good condition but not as pristine as expected
Great mountain track to challenger your accuracy
This is a great mountain track to challenger your accuracy. It is priced well for the Truckee area. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. The greens were incredibly smooth and fast and challenge you to match the speed and break perfectly to score low. Great course among many nice courses in the area. I will be back.
Decent course w/ strange holes - over priced
I think Tahoe Donners problem is they so badly want to be a private country club but that seems impossible considering their neighbors are Coyote Moon, Grey's Corssing and Old Greenwood. Those courses are in much better shape and not private. The price was ok, the course was pretty good. Some holes were a bit strange but not anything out of control Over all, not a bad place to play a round of golf. Tight fairways and fast greens,
Beautiful Golf Course
The staff is very friendly, the starter was awesome as he told me everything I needed to know about the course since it was my first time playing there and it will not be my last!!! The course was in excellent shape, manicured and fast greens. Course is tight so hitting the ball is a must, but fairways are forgiving so if you hit it straight you will get run which was awesome for me. The views are awesome as I saw deer and coyotes muling about. Had a great time and will be back for sure.
This course is awesome>
This is a very beautiful golf course and challenging. We saw deer walking along the fairways on several of the holes. The course is very well managed, from gorgeous fairways and greens to fantastic facilities. This is a great course for any golfer from novice to advanced. I will be back to play at Tahoe Donner on my next trip to the Lake Tahoe area.
