About
Singing Hills Golf Resort at Sycuan (formerly known as Sycan Resort) offers two 18-hole championship courses, Oak Glen and Willow Glen, as well as a 9-hole, par-3 course. The courses are tucked into a valley, surrounded by mountains and sloping hillsides that provide stunning backdrops on almost every hole. The Sweetwater River runs through the Oak Glen Course, coming into play on several holes including the memorable fifth hole, which is definitely a contender for one of the best par 4s in San Diego. This challenging hole requires an accurate drive across the river. The gently rolling terrain is sprinkled with mature trees. The layout features undulating greens and tight fairways. It is a challenging golf course but it is generally forgiving off of the tees, which makes it slightly less difficult than the hillier Willow Glen Course from Singing Hills Golf Resort at Sycuan.

Way overpriced
Very average course. Uninteresting layout. Little water or sand. Most holes straight and flat. So so course at premium price.

Where the Hills are Singing
It's always a fantastic day at Singing Hills. The check-in is easy, the pro shop is lovely, and the courses are challenging.

Rude Staff
I have played this course on and off for years. In recent years the course conditions have dropped while the fees have climbed. The pace of play is also really slow without any rangers in sight. I also find the staff rude and dismissive. For example, like most courses there is a bag drop area that you can drive you car up to and leave your golf bag. It is still quite walk from there to the pro shop. When I played there last, I noticed at the end of my round that the staff physically blocked access to the bag drop area so you could not drive your golf cart there to drop your bag. I mean they actually physically barricaded access with other parked carts/maintenance vehicles so you could not drive your golf cart to the bag drop area. This meant you had to leave your cart 100 yards or more from the bag drop area and then carry your bag. This is a hardship for older golfers. I guess the staff doesn't want to be inconvenienced with bringing the carts from the bag drop area back to the cart barn. Unreal especially considering this is NOT a cheap course to play. You expect at least decent service at the prices they charge....nope!

Oak Course in excellent condition
Green were in excellent shape with very few divot wounds. Fairways were also really nice.

The Intriguing sibling
Having played Willow a number of times, we decided to give then other full length course a try. Despite being right next door (sharing pro shop, parking and starter) this course had a very different feel. More tree lined holes (with some interesting trees on the fairways) and more opportunities to face water danger, one faces a very different set of challenges. A thoroughly enjoyable day on the course.

Long Challenging Pretty
The not so great
Maybe because of Covid ( even though I don't see why) we couldn't get the carts to the bag drop area, both at our arrival and departure.
Maybe because of XMas Eve, staff was scarce, but friendly once you found someone.
The good
Challenging holes with water, trees and nice sand traps. Fun!
Long course (7miles+), nice, but get a cart.
Great nature, ducks, old trees, rock formations. Very pretty setting.
The fairways were very good and most of the greens were in great shape and tricky too
Carts with GPS always a nice +

Horrible customer service
Ive been playing here 20 years , checked golf now plenty of tee times available. Go to the course walk in to pro shop DAVID to he rude at the counter, no greeting, rude, and lies . The man tells me the all the courses are booked till 330 I show him on golf now how wide Open it is, he then moves forward and gives me a tee time for 1 pm lies! Lies! We check in w the starter , he was very nice, Trevor too good guy, he tells us yea it’s pretty much wide open and to tee of anytime we liked. David is costing sycuan money and customers... David needs to be moved to a non customer service type of job. Thanks sycuan for the many great years

Ignoring Pandemic
Singing Hills seems to be under the impression that the COVID-19 pandemic is over. Maybe they believed the White House claim that they had ended it. No more cup modification to assist with retrieving the ball and the rakes were back in the bunkers. The conditions at this course have been deteriorating since re-opening and they seem to be attempting to address that issue as the fairways were recently over seeded. Hopefully they will address the deplorable conditions in the practice area soon. Regardless, I will not return until they step up and act like a responsible member of the community by taking proper precautions to promote public health.
