About

Type Resort
Par 72
Length 6820 yards
Slope 132
Rating 72.8

Singing Hills Golf Club offers two 18-hole championship courses, Oak Glen and Willow Glen, as well as a 9-hole, par-3 course. The courses are tucked into a valley, surrounded by mountains and sloping hillsides that provide stunning backdrops on almost every hole. The Sweetwater River runs through the Oak Glen Course, coming into play on several holes including the memorable fifth hole, which is definitely a contender for one of the best par 4s in San Diego. This challenging hole requires an accurate drive across the river. The gently rolling terrain is sprinkled with mature trees. The layout features undulating greens and tight fairways. It is a challenging golf course but it is generally forgiving off of the tees, which makes it slightly less difficult than the hillier Willow Glen Course on property.

Sycuan Oak Glen

Played the Blues (6594/71.8/127) as a single in 3H, 5M after a frost delay using Forelinx. The weather warmed up and was in the mid 50's by the time I finished, clear with a little breeze.

Most of the holes are relatively straight. A common theme on this layout is penalty stoke hazard and trees left and trees right. The tree lined layout is tight in places with a few elevation changes and enough water and red staked ravine hazards to keep you honest. I thought the rating and slope were a little low, it played longer than the scorecard yardage indicated.

The tees were lush and in very nice shape, few unrepaired divots.

The over seeded fairways were lush and well maintained with few divots.

The over seeded rough was generally lush, with some hardpan and wood chips mixed in under and around the hundreds of trees that line the fairways.

The sand traps were mediocre. Crusty and thin in spots.

They were in the process of resodding all the fringes with dormant bermuda. The ones they have finished were lightly sanded and should be excellent in 7-10 days. A couple of holes they had removed the old fringe and it was dirt waiting on the new sod. Looked really odd seeing a lush green ringed with smooth dirt.

I never did get the speed of the greens down. They were quick, borderline fast, smooth and held approach shots very well. I was running the ball consistently by the hole the entire round.

The customer service was excellent. They let me start alone on #3 since I had other tee times later and I played unimpeded. I had a good breakfast burrito and coffee while waiting out the frost delay, $11 before tip.

This course was in very good condition overall, everything but the traps were well above average. Solid but unspectacular layout containing 18 good golf holes in much better than average condition. Recommended = Yes.

Great value

The facilities at Sycuan are top notch. I always enjoy playing there however, I found the course to usually be to 'wet'. But I think now, with the drought they are not putting as much water on the course and I actually like it better.

Great course.

I have always liked Oak Glen

The three Sycuan golf courses are always well maintained and friendly. Oak was in very good shape, especially considering the drought. Being able to take advantage of hot deals on short notice, we were able to play w/cart for a third of the regular price. That made this a killer deal and a great afternoon on the course. Fairways had good cover, greens were fast, occasionally spotty but true and pin placements providing moderate challenge.

Hidden Gem in East County

This a hidden gem. Greens and Fairway are in great shape. There are some tough shots to make, but some holes are forgiving. Highly recommend.

Birthday golf

Played here for first time on my birthday to try a new course, and I had a great experience. We ran into a few slower couples that hung things up a bit, but I wasn't in much of a rush, so it was okay. Weather was brutally hot this week, but we came late enough in the day where it wasn't terrible. Course was challenging but fair, and I got my lowest score ever on a 18 hole par 72. Staff were great, friendly, and helpful. Would recommend and play here again.

working on it

This course had a few bare spots on the fairways and fringe was being replaced. But they were actively working on it. Breezed through the round in under 3 hours as it was 100 out. Greens rolled good and overall the course is in great shape.

Best value in East County

Mature course with trees. Great greens, good fairways. Not difficult if you can stay out of the trees, but still challenging.

Course is looking BAD.

Played golf at Sycuan yesterday on the Oak Glen course and wow was I disappointed!
I played there 2 months ago and it was beautiful, but now it browned out in lots of areas, very dry throughout the course and the grass is looking stressed but the greens were is great shape.
Sycuan golf course is watered by several wells located throughout the course.

Goat Pasture - Very poor fairways

Greens were decent, soft and fairly beaten down, but well cared for. The fairways however are in horrible condition.

Of 10 drives in the fairway all but one was on dirt, or sitting down between puff/tuffed grass and bare spots. Many areas were marked as ground under repair.

Bunkers were rock hard, with virtually no sand, and only compressed DG that was like hitting off of a sidewalk.

Very sorry to have wasted $68 dollars. This was more like a $22 dollar local muni course.

I'll be Back

Most holes on Oak Glen are flat and straight. Nice use of trees and bunkers protecting greens. Greens are lush as are fairways. Golf carts are "high end" smooth ride with fast top speeds. GPS in cart is user friendly. Scenery is beautiful, surrounded by mountains. Top notch facility, worth the extra drive time.

Decent Course

This course was a mixed bag for me. As a scratch golfer, I like a good challenge. On the pro's side, the course was in good shape, the greens are not too tricked up, and it is a great course to walk (tons of juniors were walking and playing). On the con's side, the course lacked character. Even though it is surrounded by hills/mountains, it does not bring this into play. No sharp doglegs over the side of a mountain. In fact, it is more or less a tree-lined course that sits adjacent to the hills/mountains. The one par five on the front has a totally blind tee shot because there are trees that block your view of the fairway; another par four has a tree that literally hangs over the right edge of the green (where the pin was located). It was a pinball shot. Overall, unless you can get cart and green fee for $40 or less, there are too many other good courses in San Diego that I recommend you play.

Sycuan Oak Glen 18 lush conditions, beautiful views, wildlife

Sycuan Oak Glen course features very lush conditions, with great scenery and friendly, accommodating staff. I played Oak Glen about two weeks after they aerated the greens and they were totally healed (although a little hairy; wait for them to mow and roll for even better conditions). I went out first thing in the morning as a single ahead of a noon scramble so the course was wide open besides a few groups I caught up to on the back nine. Finished in 3 hours. They host scramble tournaments often so be sure to call ahead to check public tee time availability. It's a great golf course out in the east county countryside so be prepared for hot weather and beautiful scenery of birds/wildlife (rattlers!) and minimal housing. I highly recommend all of Sycuan's golf courses (Willow #1, Oak #2 and Pine #3--executive).

huh

Great course with a great price from golf now, but really slow play. No ambassador. People in front of us would not hit until the other group ahead of them was almost on the next green, even though only one of them could hit it 200 yards at best.

course was well cared for

Golf carts have teriffic gps units. They have refreshments brought around on the course including cigars, very nice. The over all experience there was a 9 out of 10. It took alittle too long to play, is my only complaint.

Very pleasing to play

The course was just overseeded recently and we needed to stay on the cart path, but you could tell that it is a well maintained course, the fairways, greens & bunkers were good, they are in the process of resodding several tees making them flat. The course played pretty tough due to the wet conditions & a fairly tight course. Senic holes but difficult due to lots of trees, a little bit of target golf. We really enjoyed our round
