Singing Hills Golf Resort at Sycuan - Oak Glen
About
Singing Hills Golf Club offers two 18-hole championship courses, Oak Glen and Willow Glen, as well as a 9-hole, par-3 course. The courses are tucked into a valley, surrounded by mountains and sloping hillsides that provide stunning backdrops on almost every hole. The Sweetwater River runs through the Oak Glen Course, coming into play on several holes including the memorable fifth hole, which is definitely a contender for one of the best par 4s in San Diego. This challenging hole requires an accurate drive across the river. The gently rolling terrain is sprinkled with mature trees. The layout features undulating greens and tight fairways. It is a challenging golf course but it is generally forgiving off of the tees, which makes it slightly less difficult than the hillier Willow Glen Course on property.

too much time
I played 5.5 hours to finish. every shot, wait 5 minutes. it is terrible to play, and out of concentration, and tired.
nice conditions, wel maintained, played in 3hrs 45 mins..we had the course to ourselves.
these are two great layouts, i played willow glen as a single. paired with two fun guys who ribbed each other in an infectious way. that made the round more fun. greens were a tad slow and wet. as we played early, teed off by 7am-ish.. i love the area and the two courses. i look forward to plating there again and again...
the greens are in great shape
the greens were fun and a little tricky.it was pretty hot but fun layout.
Excellent
Excellent course, great shape, greens were excellent.
Great course for what we paid!
We played on 23 August 13, our normal beautiful day in San Diego! We started on time as a 3-some following a 3-some. The course was in very good condition! Fairways had a few thin spots but overall not bad. We were only in a couple of sand traps and they were in good condition! The greens were in great shape!! They were fairly soft but repaired easily and most if not all players were good about fixing their divots! The only negative thing to mention was the pace of play. There was a foursome playing extremely slow, with no one in front of them and NO marshall around to speed up play!!! I'm sure we could have played in 4 - 4.5 hours instead of 5 if they would have played faster!
Average course with nothing special except the high price
Played the OakGlen course and actually drove the entire Willowglen course just to check it out. The first two tee boxes were embarrassing. I had to hunt for a patch of grass between the dirt and crabgrass. The 7th hole is a forced par 5 with only enough room for a par 4. The tee shot is a completely blind shot down into a valley of trees and the tee boxes are cut into the side of a hill to make extra room. The greens were really nice with average speed. Fairways were in fair shape. Lots of beautiful Oak trees around but don't try to put over those leaves cause they are like parking lot speed bumps. A nice course for $20-$30 but I played on Hot Deal for $60. No Way!!! FYI. I have played EVERY course in San Diego County and Temecula on Golfnow in addition to many private courses. The Willowglen course seemed more scenic and has two very pretty holes around the water but what is with the 3 huge fans blowing on the second hole green? An average course with nothing special and not worth $60 or $74 the regular rate. I guess they have a summer special for $45 after 11.
Good course but needs some maintenance work
The course is very nice and challenging, but the tee boxes were in poor shape, with dirt, some holes, crab grass, uneven lies, etc. It was very odd because the rest of the course seemed to be in good condition. The greens are in good shape and the maintenance crew was watering them in front of our group. We teed off around 11:20 so it made sense to water them to keep them from burning during the upcoming hot point of the day. But people still fail to repair their ball marks so there were some rough spots to the greens. Overall it is an enjoyable course and the people we played with and others we came into contact with during our round all seemed very friendly and well aware of golf etiquette.
Great course conditions
the greens are in excellent shape, soft and fast. putts roll true. recommend you play here when you are in San Diego.
A good value for the money
The course is in good shape. The greens are a bit slow, probably because they have not been mowed in the heat wave.
Greenside bunkers could use some sand, but all in all it is
a very nice course.
Good
Good course junior world boys 11- 12 boys sometimes hard to book
Slow play, high heat, average course, slightly pricey
Played Oak. Pace of play was very poor. Culminated with three groups backed up on 15 tee with a couple more on 16. Not great when it's 100 degrees out. According to the pro shop it is course policy to allow fivesomes (there were at least 2 in front of us). $60 for a Friday twilight time for a course that is just average was also not that great. Overall won't be going back. Just too many good courses in San Diego at better prices and better pace.
Worked for us
Pretty good shape, friendly folks. Enjoyed it! Recommend it to others.
The Oak Course is in great shape
Played here 6/24/13. Oak course is in great shape. Fairways is good shape, greens excellant and rolls true. A fun challenging course that requires shot placement to stay out of the trees.
Very nice
Great views and greens. Will play again when I come back to San Diego.
Love this Golf course !
Usually have a great time When I play this golf course. Not this time, Tournament bumped my tee time back 30 minutes. Play was slow. But the course is always tremendous.
Great deal with the Golfnow discount
We were able to play Oak Glen for $45 with a cart thanks to the Golfnow discount. The course is in great shape. It is a challenging course....especially if you can't keep it in the fairway. Several well placed trees will hurt you if you are off the short stuff. The pace of play was outstanding. We had a 3 some and we played in just under 4 hours.
Little sister is in great shape!
I played Oak Glen on Wed and found it mostly in great shape. The greens were beautiful (medium speed) and the fairways were immaculate. My only whine on the course condition was that the sand in the two greenside "Archies" that I visited was hard as a rock. There was a tournament ahead of my group and the tee markers except for the tips, were not set up. Oak Glen, while not as sexy as bigger sister Willow Glen, is a fun play (at the right price) ! Sycuan is a very nice resort with a very friendly and helpful staff.
Had a very nice experience with the whole resort type of condition. I will make it a must play again soon.
Course layout was challenging. I like the greens even though they were punched about a month ago. Tee boxes were level and well maintained. Looking forward to playing it again, and recommend to make it a weekend retreat, the resort is a great place to hang out.
Slow play
Course was in great shape. The only bad part of the day was the slow play. Every hole had 2 sometimes 3 groups on them. Easy 5.5 hours of play. One of the longest rounds of my life. Course was very nice thought, sand was fluffy and greens rolled true.
Oak Glenn, Sycuan is a great course and friendly staff.
Great course for me and my wife, we played the forward tees (red/burgundy), and it was challenging and fun for our skills. Oak Glenn, Sycuan did not gave me stress while playing Golf. Since it was a Wednesday, game traffic was non existent, the staff was very cordiall and helpful. I will definitely check out Golfnow .com for inexpensive Tee time for myself and my wife. We love the course.
