Singing Hills Golf Resort at Sycuan - Willow Glen
About
Willow Glen is one of two 18-hole championship courses at Singing Hills Golf Resort at Sycuan (formerly known as Sycuan Resort), which also boasts an 18-hole, par-3 course. Nestled in a valley between lush hillsides, the golf courses all offer stunning mountain views. The mountains also help to block the wind, which allows for more agreeable playing conditions. Willow Glen is slightly more challenging than the other championship course due to a hillier terrain and more fairways that are tightly lined with mature pines, oaks, and cottonwoods. The trees shape the landing zones and add definition to the doglegs. Proper placement off the tees is necessary for doing well on this course. Contoured mounding borders the greensides as well as more than 40 bunkers. Water also comes into play on six holes. The 11th through the 15th holes are an impressive stretch that presents a variety of challenges as well as unrivaled scenery.

Overseed limitation
Cart stops without warning when you go more than 4-5 feet off the path. Made for many a long walk across the fairways.

Greens could have been faster, which would have made it very good play. Also rough cut was inconsistent.
Bunkers were in very good condition.

Another Price Hike
I bought the players club card at the beginning of the year and planned on playing here quite a bit. I love the courses and the staff has always been great. The bar and restaurant have outstanding food and a great staff as well. In early spring they raised the rates and took away the twilight discount for players club members. That was disappointing but it didn’t discourage me too much. Then I noticed the food prices going way up. All of a sudden it was $45 for a six pack of light beer. This summer, my dad, my brother in law and myself played every single Sunday. We played both courses even with the construction on Oak. We primarily walk but Dad rides in the cart a lot. Point is, me and my family have spent quite a bit of money at this place in 2022. We just kept taking the price hikes in stride.
Then today we show up on our standard booked tee time we have played since May and we are told it is now $79 to WALK! Just last week it was $60 even with the major construction. This is the last straw. The three of us will be taking our golf business elsewhere every single Sunday from now on. It is unbelievable, not to mention terrible business, that they have raised rates TWICE now in the same year when many of us have purchased their players club card which advertised completely different rates when it was sold to us.
I hope others will think twice about letting these hustlers dig that deep into your pockets like this.

Insisting on paying for person who cannot make it
Everything about the course was great. But 1 out of the foursome are not able to make it. Course insisted that I pay for all 4. And if I don’t, then they will charge golf now and golf now will charge me. Not sure how true that is, but I paid for 4 when only 3 people are playing.
One player had to rent clubs. They actually made him take his clubs into the club house. Most courses will just ask clients to leave the clubs in the cart.
Service is more like municipal course I guess.

Pace of play nightmare
Didn't finish my round. Left at 4:40 mark. Just terrible. Marshal not concerned. Traveling group at least one hole behind. Course in decent condition.

Decent
They’re redoing Oak right now, so that being said they’re trying their best to make the most of it. That being said, they should not be charging $90 on a weekend for the condition it is in. The staff are awesome but they’re just overcharging for this place. Can’t wait to see it when the construction is done!

Not in good shape
Given the heat wave, every course is struggling to keep their fairways and greens watered we. Even Torrey was pretty brown earlier this week. That being said, the rough (and even fairways in places) was completely out of control. Longer than Torrey pre-tournament in places and uneven. Had multiple shots just off the fairway that were in 6 inches or more of weeds and multiple shots that stuck in swaths of weeds just off the green. This was clearly a result of neglect, not an intentional decision to preserve the grass.
For the price, you can find much better.

Horrible Course Conditions
This course was in terrible shape and they are still charging $90 on a weekday. Additionally, their cart policy is simply ridiculous. The staff makes all singles pair up in one cart even if the course is empty (as it was when I played). They actually made me wait around because there were no other singles to pair up with at my tee time. In the age of COVID, this policy makes zero sense...especially when the course is empty.

NOT IN GOOD SHAPE
Played this course alot and always been a great deal but yesterday was terrible. Fairways are scorched (which I can deal with because of the heat) but it seems that since they are redoing Oak course, they dont care about this one- esp for $90.
What was worse was the staff. Snack shop at 10 was closed (even thoughh they told us it was open, groundskeeper was watering our green at 2pm for over 10min while we are on the fairway waiting to hit onto it and when we asked for ice at the snack shack for our cooler, were told they cant give us ice- despite spending money & buying drinks. 103 degrees out and they cant give out ice.
Hi, we’re sorry to hear of your less-than-satisfactory experience and hope you will accept our sincerest apologies. We value our customers' opinions and would like to make things right. Please contact us directly at the pro shop. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Very disappointed with what this course has fallen to
This course use to be one of the nicest in San Diego but unfortunately in the last year or so has been let go. They clearly have stop putting money into this course to maintain it. You walk in and have 4 people in the pro shop for no apparent reason. I'm sure with 2 is good enough, that allows them to have 2 more people as green keepers. The rough is way over grown, fairways soaked and muddy. Bunkers with hard sand filled with rocks. Greens were ok but clearly needed some work also. Overall a depressing feeling at this course, the Staff also seems to be upset with the conditions. They seem to maybe know this course will be sold or closed in the near future. It's sad because Sycuan casino clearly is doing well but they have chosen to separate themselves from this course.
