Ojai Valley Inn
About
Opened in 1923, Ojai Valley Inn Golf Course is one of California's first great courses. Over the decades that the course has been open, it has hosted a number of professional players and celebrities ranging from Arnold Palmer to Will Smith. George C. Thomas, Jr., who created the Riviera, collaborated with Billy Bell to design the original golf course but Jay Morrish made the layout considerably more challenging with renovations in 1988. Ten years later, two holes from the original Thomas/Bell layout that were lost during a redesign following WWII were completely restored and incorporated into the layout. The challenging golf course is very narrow in some spots and it features undulating greens that putt fast and true. The layout is not particularly long but it requires accuracy and proper club selection in order to score well.

Nice and Friendly
My buddy and I flew through this course even though we were a little late for our tee time. The staff was super friendly and pace of play was quick. Nice course that can make you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere.
The course was in great shape. It has some nice, challenging holes.
I have played here before and again, was not disappointed. I played from the back tees for a challenge. Making sure you hit the right areas makes for a tough round. The GPS on the carts help with where to layup for the next shot. I plan on coming here again next year.
Paid for 12:50 start time but had big problem
Great area course and spa are great as well. My problem was that on golfnow.com I booked a time 12:50 for both my wife and I to play. We live one hour away from golf course as we stopped at bag drop we saw 20 carts loaded up for a shot gun. The Pro told us that we would be able to get us off at 1:40 not 12:50. I asked about Golf Now that I paid for and he said we send them the dates of shot guns but golf now sells times anyway. The Asst behind the desk said his pay grade did not allow him to off anything like lunch or drinks after the round. Just flat not happy with that answer.
Must play
This is a magical place! Quiet, peaceful, oak trees throughout, mountain vistas.
Course is old time design with challenges aplenty.
Prepare your self for last three finishing hoes -- could blow your round!
Never super busy...always a pleasure to play.
One of my favs along with Industry Hills, Pelican, El Cab, Oak Quarry !
It was a great round of golf. A truly great, classic course.
My 3 sons and I enjoyed playing this course for the first time. The layout, the views. Everything was most enjoyable. Two thumbs up
One of the best courses to play in the Santa Barbara/Ventura/Los Angeles area.

Great Day
We got our tee time the morning we played which was nice. Its a nice drive but you dont really get to see how nice it is until you really get to the resort. The course was in great shape and we played around at a very fast pace without really waiting at all. We were just a twosome so the one time we did come up on a group they let us through. The best part would have been paying $59 for the round and if not for the course closing at 4pm for an event we could have gotten a replay for another $10. We cant wait to go back.
Tricky front nine, great staff.
Some blind shots on front nine which is hilly. Back is more traditional. Three long par threes on back all over 200 yds. Suggest playing white tees if not a long hitter.
Staff was most cordial.
Beautiful and annoying
Had to wait 30 mins to get a breakfast sandwich before the round because of poor service and lots of resort people in line. Should have a snack option available to golfers only. Golf shop attendant was unfriendly almost to the point of being rude, very unexpected for a $180 round.
The course was spectacular, but not worth the hassle.
Great Layout! I'll play this course again and often.
Excellent course, scenic surroundings and a beautiful Inn and Spa. Golf Now rate was great. Played on Sunday afternoon as a single and rarely saw other golfers. Course was in great shape and I really enjoyed the layout. Afternoon heat was probably why course had very few players. Greens were in great shape. Only hit on course was that the driving range closed at 3pm on Sunday.
Great course
Great course. Some challenging holes but overall a well laid out course. Staff was fantastic. Price paid on golf now was half the price course offered.
staffs unkind and rude
golf starter was behind building of front gate.
but no sign and asked many staffs but
no interested in guiding us to golf area but officially answered
down and corner
but it was hard to find golf starter.
rude and unkind- not recommend you definitely.
Awesome experience
Overall, one of the best in Southern California. Will be back ASAP.
Great Day
Fun course to play. Great pace of play. Course in very good condition. Highly recommended.
Hot Deal
The course was in perfect condition. The only problem we had was the 100+ degree temperature drained our energy by the 15th hole.
Great Course and Resort
This course is phenomenal. For the mid to high handicapper this course can be challenging. Several of the holes are not forgiving, and require placement golf. However, you don't have to be the longest hitter. Even from the back tees the course is not very long at under 6300 yards. The setting has nice views of the Ojai valley surrounded by mountains all the way around. If it is warm, there is small but nice locker room for a quick shower after your round, and a close walk to Jimmy's pub. This course is a must to play.
This course is a hidden gem
Great course, great location, great staff, however, as a resort course, the ball marks on the green are sometimes unrepaired and the bunkers are sometimes left unraked. Other than that, the course is fantastic. With windy conditions in the late afternoon, the finishing four holes at this golf course from the tips challenge all levels of golf ability. A true GEM!!!!
Beautiful mountain vista's
Most enjoyable round of golf. Would be much easier and more enjoyable second time around.
COUNTRY CLUB FEEL
I was so amazed of how challenging the course was for beind a short course. Alot of doglegs, blind shots and spectacular views. I highly recommend this course, and the four cheese pizza at the bar...
Great course for the value
Course was in perfect condition. Facilities of driving range, chipping/sand area, multiple putting greens make this an outstanding resort course. Five stars all the way.
