A different experience
The experience of playing Cairndhu for the first time was highly enjoyable and an experience. The course layout is a blend of aesthetic woodland holes combined with holes carved into the mountain side, with 2-3 club elevations and downhill shots. Throw in plenty of blind shots, it certainly needs at least 2 or 3 rounds to get to know.
The scenery on some holes is fantastic, the greens were good for the time of year and every member I met was very welcoming and chatty. The only downside was holes 5-7 were closed, which was not advertised at the time of booking.
All told, it’s a course I’d like to play again in the summer and certainly worth £17 on a hot deal!
Stunning!
Played for the first time on a wet and windy morning but this did not detract from the beauty of the course and the surroundings. The friendly folk in the pro shop and the excellent facilities added to the great experience. We walked the course but didn’t know how hilly it was, explained all the buggies that were parked there.
Amazing Course
A tough challenging course but wish I had hired a buggy. Views are amazing on first 3 holes and what a tough 3 opening holes. Some really great Par 3s. Def coming back again
The delightful Dhu
This course is a must play if you're anywhere around the Antrim coast, or even in Belfast. The 360° views of the Antrim plateau alone are worth the punt, let alone the slick design of some of the holes, particularly the third which boasts a blind tee-shot from the tip of the mountain down to a gettable green. The blind, long approach on the 15th also leaves an impression.
The only downsides are that it isn't a links course, as one would believe. The tall trees, which come into play more and to the course's defence on the inward 9, prevent the wind and sun from reaching some sections of the course so it can be a bit boggy, even in summer. The greens were also just hollow tined and sanded on the day I played it, although this was reflected in the price. Definitely worth a visit to the Dhu!
Great course with excellent sea views.
Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Thoroughly enjoyed this golf course with breathtaking views.
Great course
This was my first visit. It was a very well laid out course. The greens were fantastic. It is quite hilly but the views of the glens and Scotland were amazing. We played a three ball and the staff and members were excellent . They made us feel welcome.
Course is in great condition.
First time visitor.
Firstly the course is immaculate!! With all the heavy rain we have had I was worried about the condition of the course but they have it in great condition for this time of year and it's the best conditioned course I've played this year! So amazing job done by the greenkeepers!!
A beautiful course, some tricky holes but very enjoyable! A brilliant way to spend an afternoon!
We were welcomed warmly and the guy running the pro shop was very friendly and helped us out with a few tips. Thank you very much for having us and its a course I wanted to play again from the minute I stepped off the 18th Green! Highly recommended and we will be back.
Fun and challenging hilly layout
Enjoyed our round with the conditions being somewhat wet in places but the course in good overall condition. Good staff experience and players all seemed friendly and welcoming. The only criticism we would have is that it has a few too many blind shots, but playing it a second time would eliminate that problem. Fun day with number 2 being simply gorgeous.
Stunning views
Thoroughly enjoyed playing the course! Stunning views came in on most holes! Enjoyed great views from clubhouse with tasty lunch! The only downside was that fairways were very muddy in lower lying areas and so extremely slippery! The course feels long with many stiff climbs and felt harder than its slope rating of 112
