Needs a bit of TLC

I recall playing this course years ago but don't remember it being so run down. Club house and lockers are in need of repairs, but it's the greens where things are really poor. They are either diseased, grass cut too short and burnt completely but I think only a handful were not impacted.

Golf is an enjoyable game but key elements are keeping greens in good order and this let it down badly

Poor greens

Always like a round at my local course but the greens are absolutely terrible atm. Large areas of ground under repair aswell. Apart from this it’s a great course

Needs work

With the recent spell of warm weather the course was pretty dried up. A lot of trees fallen from bad storm months ago still lay around the course with patches of ashes from burning them scattered all over the course. Other than that i enjoy Ballymena gc.

We went out at 09:24 as there was a schools competition going out at 09:45, after 9 holes we could see the course getting busier, when we were playing the 14 we noticed 3 x 3 balls starting at the 15th hole, this was not the fault of the lads but the 3 teachers setting them off, this should not have been allowed to happen 🤨

Poor Course

I used to play here sometimes when I was younger it certainly wasn’t as bad then. When I arrived there were no staff on site, if there was a shop it was closed so I couldn’t get a drink to have in my bag for the round. Ground was rock hard, it was like playing off tarmac, greens were super fast due to no hydration. Some tee boxes the grass hadn’t even been cut it was about 4 inches long. Personally I wouldn’t go back there’s so many better courses around for the same price

fine for beginners

Played today using the golfnow app. Mate couldn't make it, so I was paired with 2 other guys who were mates. Decent lads, had plenty of patience for someone like me just trying to get into the game.. weather was wonderful, which probably adds half a star to everything. One of the fellas had a GPS wristwatch, which we often used for yardages amd directions to the next tee, as signage wasn't great, amd i didnt notice any 100yd markers on fairways (not that I found many) quite a basic layout to be honest, no elevation changes to speak of. Really. Storm Eoghan had a field day with a lot of trees by the look of it, which opens it up and did me a favour as a beginner, although the fallen tree branches are pile into bonfire like masses in places, and quite findable from the tees on certain hikes. Basically your ball's gone if it goes into it. No driving range, just a net round by the carpark. We all agreed that the greens were quite bobbly. Most of the bunker sand was damp, dark and solid.. As a beginner, I'm not sure my opinion is fair in the comments made above, but these are just my thoughts 1 hour after leaving. Didn't use the clubhouse, but I've been there before, lovely rooftop veranda overlooking the18th green , guys were having a few pints and some laughs in the beautiful sunshine. I'll definitely go back as it's my local course, and it was grand for my level. More serolios golfers might not like the bobbly greens or lack of signage from hole to hole, but at 21 quid for a few hours fun and excercise, I reckon its fair enough..

Brutal

You’d think this course had been closed for the last 6 months and has just reopened and maybe it has but I’ll certainly not be back to find out! No tee boxes open, at least 12 holes had temporary greens, most bunkers need re sanded, golfers sailing around in everyday attire, dog dirt in places, people walking dogs on the course and lastly children playing beside the 17th fairway….absolutely unreal

Raceview, Ballymena Golf Club. Winter round.

Really enjoyed playing this course again. I grew up learning the game here but had not been back in forty years. The trees planted when I was a boy have grown well now disguising the flat nature of this course. The storms have taken a few though.

The layout is largely as I remember with some enhancements, greens and tees repositioned. Conditions were good on the fairway, greens like many inland courses are struggling with the long term wet weather. The Green keeping staff have done well to keep them this playable.

Friendly staff in the clubhouse. This is real value for money in the winter, summer too come to that. I hope to revisit several times over the summer.

Great course for winter golf

Course in great condition considering we had the worst rain this winter the day before, all the tee boxes were open as well as all the greens. Would highly recommend for winter golf best in the country as far as park land courses is concerned. Thumbs up from me 👍

Great day out in Ballymena hi!!

First time playing the course and thoroughly enjoyed it. Course was challenging without being too much for someone who's only back playing regularly after a couple of years away. Guy from pro shop rang to say he might have to nip out and that he would leave out our cards , which he did All round a great day and as Arnie said"I'll be back!!"😜😄
