Cairndhu

We tee off at 9:50am, course completely fogged out but still let us out to play, did clear after 6 holes but came back on and off all day butdidnt ruin are day.

we hit are tee shots to the par3 3rd which we couldnt see but when we arrived to the green there was 2 billy goats on it! lol

Ive played this course before and without the heavy fog and Goats on the green its a great course to play and a lot of long holes and tight holes which is great, greens, fairways and bunkers are all well maintained.

Would play again.

Make sure you hire a buggy!!

While the course was in immaculate condition and the weather was perfect for a round of golf, not to mention the fact id the morning off work. You would think this would have added up to a lovely golf outing, how wrong you would be!! My first mistake was not getting a buggy (major error), the second was not familiarising with the course layout, there are more than a few blind shots. The course layout could be somewhat better, given you are often crossing over of greens/fairways onto the next hole and with no real signature holes, your left feeling a bit meh!! The views from the 2nd tee box were a bit of a woah factor but not really in the golf sense!! I think the fact the course is the hilliest iv ever played maybe somewhat hangs a shadow over my opinion, but if i was to give a summary of all things golf then well it's a finely kept, tightish course (plenty of trees) with far too many hills!!!! For the love of.......... make sure you get a buggy!!!

Windy weather

As scenic a course as you'll get anywhere

Perhaps it should be mentioned at the outset that Cairndhu is a fairly hilly course, and those with a lack of puff, stamina or with health issues, will probably require the use of a buggy to negotiate the terrain, however, everyone that does undertake the full 18 holes will undoubtedly appreciate the magnificent scenery to behold from the 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 10th tees especially. (The par 3 2nd is perhaps the signature hole of the course - gentle enough in benign conditions, but can be a real nightmare when the wind gets up!)

The course has a very pleasing layout with 2 par 3s & 7 par 4s on the front 9, and 2 par 3s, 5 par 4s & 2 par 5s on the back 9. On 3, 5, 9, 10, 14, 17 & 18 the tees offer a particularly tempting invitation to "let it rip" with the driver, while 2nd shots on 4, 7, 8, 12, 16 & 17 often produce a challenge, and then putts on 7, 8, 9, 13 & 16 can devilishly difficult depending on pin placements.

All holes were in very good nick with greens being of moderate pace, and although there was fairly extensive work in progress on 1st and 5th tees, this did not impede or hamper play in any way.

On an early Monday morning at the beginning of April, it was to be expected that it would be quiet, but despite the blustery, occasionally threatening elements, it was good to see that that there was still a fair number of folk out to brave the cool, though generally fine, bright conditions and enjoy an unhindered amble - or buggy ride- round this fine view-filled track. If you are fortunate to arrive at Cairndhu in good weather, then I believe that the vistas afforded by the 2nd, 3rd & 10th tees are worth the green fees themselves, and are some of the finest panoramas to be seen from any course anywhere. (Don't let the pace of play prevent you from stopping for a couple of minutes to appreciate these viewpoints and do take pictures if possible - unfortunately mine do not do justice.)

To finish, I would commend Matt (Stewart) in the pro shop for his genuinely warm welcome and would advise folk that he has some excellent Cairndhu-branded gear to be had as souvenirs of your visit.

Very friendly welcoming with great views

The pro welcomed us and showed us around this friendly club. There are some quite challenging blind tee shots but are accompanied by spectacular views of the Antrim scenery. It is a quite compact track crisscrossing and at one time 2 Greens and 2 tees within 80 yards of each other which was rather noisy and etticate seemed to go out the window, but overall course good condition and greens good for the time of year. Club house very warm and welcoming with good food at a good price.

Cairndhu Golf Course.

Course and greens in excellent condition. The professional Mr Trainor was very helpful and courteous and would love to play this course again when next in the area. The views were magnificent and our golf wasn't so bad either. Would definitely recommend this course.

this course is excellent value for.money

Some beautiful scenery, blind tee shots and some very awkward uphill and downhill lies when hitting shots. Landing in the rough is a real penalty. You dont want to get off the fairways as there's usually a tree in your way. Pace of greens were good and course is in pretty good condition.
