Winchester Country Club
About
Winchester Golf Club boasts a championship course that was a collaboration between Robert Trent Jones Sr. and Jr. The foothills of the Sierra Mountains serve as the backdrop to the course, which sits at a convenient elevation of 1,800 feet that puts it right above the fog but below the winter snows. The golf course also enjoys panoramic views of the Sacramento Valley. Massive rock outcroppings border the fairways, calling for some creative shot making. Accuracy is also a necessity with meandering creeks and bunkers coming into play on most holes. The layout is challenging but five sets of tees make the golf course approachable for a variety of skill levels. Winchester G.C. is not only well known throughout northern California, it has also been ranked as one of the 15 best in the state.

Golfer Reviews
Amazing
This track is incredibly enjoyable. It features rolling hills and challenging holes. The course is in superb condition, with just a few spots having slightly too much water, but the greenery is everywhere. My friends and I had an amazing time. The only downside was the pin placements on the greens, which were quite difficult. I imagine the crew who set these pins were quite frustrated when they got to work. :-) After the round, we sat and ate to relax a bit because the course put its hands on us. I can’t wait to play again. It’s well worth the admission price. Tell a friend to tell a friend. Use Golf now and book a foursome.
Great Course, could be in better shape
I grew up playing this course and my family were members all the way until last year. Layout is fantastic, course conditions, not so much. greens were the slowest I could remember Winchester greens. Tee boxes need some work too. Overall great track.
Course is great. Staff could use a lesson
Course was in amazing condition. Really enjoyed the golf. Pro shop guy was great. Four star instead of 5: Lack of signage makes it difficult to locate holes. Getting to practice area is a challenge for the same reason. Several other players seemed lost not just us. Bigger Problem: Snack cart person was miserable. Clearly did not want to be there. Bartender was friendly. We wanted to get breakfast/lunch at the turn. The phone barn on 9th tee was closed. When we got to the bar and asked for a hot dog, she said 10-12 minutes. So, we got the smallest bag of chips ever sold and a beer. Really disappointing. Asked if I could order and have it brought to us at the end of the 10th hole, she said they have gotten in trouble for that.
Good/challenging course would recommend
The course was nice. However a lot of the course was soaked and quite a bit of GUR in the fairways and greens. Carts were nice and so was the staff. I enjoyed playing the course due to its challenging course setup, making course management a must on this course. Will play again in the future.
Superb course
I took my client here and it was both our first time playing Winchester. The back nine is amazing and surreal. I'll definitely be back soon!
Bunkers
The bunkers were wet and in some cases muddy. Some also needed more sand. They did not play like a bunker should play
Very nice Foothills golf course
I played Winchester yesterday and enjoyed it as usual. Being Robert Trent Jones course the design is very playable. The greens were fast and smooth. Staff was friendly. I recommend it for anyone o the Sacramento ao
Great Course
Course is in great condition though out the entire course. Very friendly staff and the scenery is very cool.
