There's a few hills
Lovely course with some stunning views. A definite challenge, and quite unforgiving if you stray too far from the short stuff. Greens were in great nick and running well. A thoroughly enjoyable round of golf. One word of caution, it is quite hilly, with the last few holes being a bit of a test on already tired legs. Might be worth investing in a buggy!
Beautiful Course
The views of Newtownards and quality of golf holes make for a very good value for money golf course. The course is very hilly which makes for some very fun tee shots, but also some very challenging tee shots as well, beware the elevation in holes does make for a tough walk around. Course is a little confusing to go around so if you have the chance to play with someone who has played the course before, or with one of its members, I would recommend going with them, fortunately for me, some of the other players kept me right showing me which way to go. Greens were quick for the time of year and the groundskeeping team should be very proud of themselves for the condition they have the course in. Would recommend anyone to play here who doesn't mind the tough walk, can't wait to play here again!
Well looked after
Lovely course that can punish you when you don’t hit the fairway, definitely stock up on balls before as it can new easy to lose a few! Greens and fairways both in great condition would play again without a doubt although next time around would make use of a buggy as the hills on the course will tire you out
a real gem
first time playing scrabo, what a track! course in great condition, some unbelievable views. difficult enough course, rough is punishing so a few balls were lost. staff and members all very friendly and welcoming. will be back
Great test of Golf
If you can get a deal for this course, take it!
Ive played it many times & its a great test of golf.
I don't like short courses that's just go straight up and down, and this course is neither! Some long holes which is a good test and no hole the same! From up hill to down hill, dog rights, dog lefts. you have it all!!
We played it a few days ago and it was in immaculate condition, the best I seen the greens! So smooth and quick, how greens should be!
Definitely worth playing if you get a good price, havent played it recently as the price had jumped up so much but we got a great price on golfnow and jumped at it.
Definitely worth playing! 🏌️♂️👍
Scenic Views With a Warm Welcome
This course is truly a hidden gem. The views in all directions are amazing and the course is in very good condition, offering a challenging and rewarding round. A few helpful tips from the golf pro helped guide us on a couple of tees that may not be obvious to the first time player. Off the beaten path, it’s worth the effort. The club President, Captain, Vice Captain and Ladies Captain happened to be there and all came out to greet us after our round and took a photo of the 6 of us on the first tee box with the Scrabo Tower as the back drop (being from Colorado we were honored to have been so welcomed by this members club). They even posted the photo on their Facebook page! Recommend giving this course a try if you are in the Belfast area.
Great course
Would definitely recommend being fit or having a buggy. Very hilly, windy and rocky with specific local rules around free relief that you should read on scorecard. Brilliant views, challenging and great staff. Not a member but was still welcomed to grab a quick drink to cool down on a very hot day. Quite local to a family member who I will be visiting ore often just to play here!
Returning Golfer
I love Scrabo golf course. I was a member 25 years ago, and returning now to see how the course has matured and been manicured, with new rock walls, and mini gardens, where there was previously gorse bushes. The now much taller trees and rough, provide more challenges than before, but, this encourages more straight shoots.
Using intelligent shots is key to shooting a good score here....
Oh and the views, are as superb as ever.
Cracking course, with some amazing Views.
Amazing course and exceptional value, definitely worth a play if you're in the North and want a test of your accuracy. Left with a smile on my face.
Excellent course as always.
We walked this course, whereas a lot of people use buggies. As a result those in front of us never held us up. We were out late morning. Course in excellent condition as always. A tough but fair track and the variety of holes here is always a pleasure to play. Be aware it is hilly in parts so you need to be fairly fit to walk. It's a must play course (try to do it on a low wind day as it's very high up and very difficult to play in the wind) for everyone. Not one negative on this course. The price of playing is increasing all the time. Not just here, but everywhere.
Gorgeous Course
One of the prettiest courses I've ever seen and played. The course is short but a great test. Will definitely be back again!
Gorgeous Course
One of the most beautiful courses I've ever played! Views are insane and the course is a test of golf with some blind tee shots, elevation changes and tight fairways. Truly hidden gem and what an experience! I highly recommend it to anyone who loves golf
Amazing Views
Good little course on top of hill overlooking Newtownards and with great views of Mournes, Ards Peninsula and beyond. The course whilst being in reasonable order is very tight especially if there’s any significant wind-and there always is! Staff are great and food good in restaurant
Fantastic
Have played quite a few courses in NI and can say hands down this is my favourite, the course layout is challenging and the scenery is breath taking.
Greens run fast & true
