The 2025 golf season is a huge one for Ireland and Northern Ireland.
The 2025 Open Championship returns to Royal Portrush's Dunluce Links for the first time since 2019. That will surely cast the golf spotlight upon the "Emerald Isle" all year long.
We have compiled the best public golf courses and hidden gems of Ireland and Northern Ireland - the "Emerald Isle" - for our annual Golfers' Choice lists by analyzing the ratings and reviews submitted by members of our community: golfers like you.
We use GolfPass' Ratings Index logic that weights newer reviews and combine it with a course's subcategory averages. Courses must offer public access and have received at least two reviews in 2024 to be eligible for this year's list. Famous courses like the Dunluce Links, Royal County Down, Ballybunion, Waterville, Lahinch and others didn't get enough reviews to qualify, so make you the review these fantastic links next time you are lucky enough to play them.

Killarney Golf and Fishing Club - Killeen Course
Killarney, County KerryPublicGreen fee: $108-$217
What they're saying: "Played a day after heavy rain. Greens were real slow (relative to what I normally I play at home in the U.S.). (I) walked in under 4 hours while waiting on many shots. (It's a) nice layout with beautiful scenery. (The) staff (is) very hospitable. (There's a) great selection of clothing and items in pro shop." - PJDink -

Scrabo
Green fee: $89-$116
What they're saying: "Lovely course that can punish you when you don’t hit the fairway. Definitely stock up on balls before (you play) as it can (be) easy to lose a few! Greens and fairways (are) both in great condition. (I) would play (it) again without a doubt although next time around (I) would make use of a buggy as the hills on the course will tire you out." - alexweir4 -
Roscrea
Green fee: $27-$38
What they're saying: "This is my local golf course. I’m 33 and am new to golf in the last 12 months. I play this course at least once per week and it’s a lovely course and very well maintained. The fairways and greens are always in great condition once there isn’t a huge shower of rain the night before. It’s in boggy land so it gets very soft in the bad weather but the boggy land makes it a lovely natural course with really nice fairways. Any staff I’ve met here have been really nice. Everyone I’ve played with or behind are nice and always let you play through without issues. I’ve played other courses where people are not as friendly and where the pace of play is really bad. Roscrea is all positive." - landym -
