Crescent Pointe Golf Club
About
Crescent Pointe Golf Club in Bluffton is Arnold Palmer's only public course in the area. It is conveniently located just a few minutes west of the bridge leaving Hilton Head Island. Opened in 2000, the course has quickly gained a reputation as being one of the Lowcountry's best. Sprawling across a lush landscape blanketed with century-old oaks and towering pines, the layout is as scenic as it is challenging. While the generous fairways may be player friendly, the difficult approaches to the elevated, well bunkered greens are anything but. The large, pristine white sand bunkers were designed in true Palmer-style, closely following the natural undulations of the land. The gently rolling terrain is unique for the area. Crescent Pointe Golf Club's elevation changes aren't dramatic but they do provide some subtle, but tricky undulations in the greens that make it hard to find a flat lie.

Great Arnold Palmer design
There are some great holes on the course. The greens were in good condition, although the fairways and rough were scrappy. The staff was very friendly. If the new management spends some money on the course, it will be a terrific deal.
Thinking Man's Golf
This is a fun course to put away your driver on. A lot of hidden trouble in the driver landing zone and a lot of punitive challenges for off-center hits. Keep it in the fairway and you're golden. Stray a bit and you're in trouble. We played early in the season and the rough was very fast. Balls never seemed to stop rolling. Friendly staff who were willing to give a good description of the more difficult holes before we went out. I would definitely return.
poor condition for the value
;Overall condition for late March was poor; range and putting green was very poor to start day; then course greens had some winter kill and were very hard; fairways had no overseer and were very tight as a result. Won't go back here for sure until issues cleaned up
Good value
Overall good experience, course was in ok shape for March. Only negative was they sent us out in group of 5. So slow.
Awesome!
First time playing this course. Immediately impressed with the clubhouse staff and the clubhouse! My son and I were paired with a couple of great guys, Rob and Scott, from Bluffton. Teed off on time and the pace of play was very suitable for our games. Greens and tee boxes were in great shape, fairways were a little short and dry. Enjoyed it tremendously and we plan on going back soon
canadian hockey player/ snow shoveler
course was in great shape and greens were quick great time better than shoveling snow
Extremely thin lies on fairways make course more difficult
Some positives here, but the fairways are the worst I've encountered near Hilton Head. Yes, it's March, and the bermuda grass is still dormant. But it is much thinner and shorter here than any other local course. It's like hitting off bare ground -- hardpan, really. We won't be going back for that reason alone. It's probably fine in the summer, but we're only here in March. The course layout is interesting and varied, liked it, but the ball runs so far on the super-thin fairways that even well-hit shots sometimes end up in a hazard. Several of my shots rolled 30 or 40 yards, sideways, into a hazard -- even though I landed the ball in the middle of the fairway. Makes a difficult course even harder. It was so frustrating, that I ended up putting a very short tee under my ball for 2nd and 3rd shots just to make the course playable for me (20 HCI). On the plus side, I liked the layout (even though it is difficult with many forced carries), greens were mostly in good condition, staff was friendly, and it's a pretty course. But pace of play was very slow, 2-1/2 hours for 9 holes, and there is no ranger. We had GroupGolfer coupons, which made this a very good deal, but even at $40 for 18 holes & cart, we won't be going back anytime in March.
