The 18-hole Old South Golf Links in Bluffton, S.C. is a public course that opened in 1991. Designed by Clyde Johnston, Old South Golf Links measures 6,772 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 129 and a 72.4 USGA rating. The course features four sets of tees for different skill levels.

Johnston designed Old South Golf Links in keeping with the beautiful Lowcountry's natural landscape. "Old South Golf Links was designed not only to provide an enjoyable yet challenging golf game, but also to preserve the natural beauty of the land," he said. "I felt that this was an opportunity to allow the golfer to experience up close the uniqueness of the site, its natural amenities and spectacular views."

The variety of the setting from oak forest to open pasture to tidal salt marsh, provided an opportunity to vary the design elements and strategy of play.

Old South Golf Links is open to the public seven days a week. There is a clubhouse, restaurant and full-line pro shop on site.

Nice course

Great layout, a couple of the holes were target golf (2 water carries into tight conditions), otherwise holes all pretty different from each other. a 5 hour round ruined the experience.

Links Course with Charm

We really enjoyed our round (9 holes) at Old South. It was Feb so the weather was cool and by our final hole there was a mist in the air. Upon arrival we were greeted with a smile, a welcome and help with our bags. Inside the clubhouse we were treated well and were given the option of which 9 we would like to play (we took the suggestion of the back 9, as it is more scenic). The course itself was visually pleasing, and we truly enjoyed playing a links course. The course can be scored on (if you stay in the fairway) as the length from the white tees was not excessive (2974 yds). I really wish that we could play this course "in season" to see just what a gem Old South really is.

Mid winter round

As always, old South never disappoints. A fun layout. Of course is in pretty good shape for early February. And the greens were an unexpected nice surprise. We will be back.

Course closed and NO call

Drove all the way up to Bluffton from Savannah to play this course that I’ve been eying. Unfortunately when i got there they were closed at 10am because of weather. I understand it was supposed to snow that night but out was 45 and beautiful. Would have been nice to get a call from Golf Now or the course to let me know

Good layout and good conditions. This is a decent alternative to the much more expensive courses on the ocean. Everything about this course is good/average. The layout, the conditions, the pace, the driving range. No place to chip/pitch/bunker that I found. The staff is SUPER FRIENDLY!
