Colonial Charters Golf Club
About
Colonial Charters Golf Club (formerly known as Palmetto Greens) is located in Longs, S.C. near Myrtle Beach. It has a laid-back atmosphere and is known for its consistently good conditions. The layout will test your accuracy with narrow, fairways and a variety of water hazards and sand traps. Golfers will encounter water on nearly every hole, two of them feature greenside waterfalls. There are also several strategically placed bunkers throughout the golf course and mature hardwoods line the fairways. There are a few challenging holes but overall it is player friendly enough for any skill level to approach with confidence. In addition to the golf course, Colonial Charters Golf Club has a practice facility with a driving range and chipping and putting areas. For those who are still learning, there are PGA Professionals available for lessons.

Can't beat it for the price
They are getting a new owner...I think this course can make it..keep the price down and the people coming..
Good for the money
For being the busiest time of the year it is a great value. Althought it is not well maintain. It is worth the value.
the greens were in good shape
The course looked tired but was worth the $20 that we paid. A money input could put this course as one of the best. very picturesque on some holes and was definetly interesting. Sand traps have not been serviced for some time however it has potential.
Great place for duffers when able to get bargain prices.
We are definitely duffers and appreciate being able to find occasional cheap rates to keep us out of the way of the good golfers who are paying the high prices. Course is not great but works well for our skill level.
Horrible course!!!
Golf now should be embarrassed to even have this course on the site. They didn't even have golf balls to sale to my group. I will NEVER use golf now again because of this course!!!
Good course not great!
Course is under going a huge makeover, Back nine was really very nice front nine not so much but they are rebuilding! Be nice by next year!
some interesting holes, but conditions are poor
They appear to be fixing the traps, some had new sand, others are mud. Condition of course was disappointing. Would not recommend.
It is worth playing. Very challenging layout and you can't beat the price.
Time to get there from downtown Myrtle Beach was worth the trip.
The money speaks!
What can I say, we paid twelve dollars. If you are looking to just swing this is your place. Upon arriving at the course the club house told the story. One person crew of cart boy, pro shop, and snack bar. Lucky for me, I got the last sports drink to keep hydrated. The course will leave you with much to be desired if you are looking to play a typical MB track. But, might I remind you we only paid twelve dollars. Yes, that included cart. Overall, my wife and I had great time. But, if you care about the course pay more and be happy. Let's just say I can't wait to play my club at home.
Greens were in poor condition when I played.
Had a great price. If you want a trip of golf AND get an amazing deal then you get out and hit some balls. But if you pay too much for a round here you will be disappointed.
Course was straightforward with very little challenge on the front 9. 18 was amazing and in pristine condition.
Fairly easy course. Wasn't in great condition, but was well worth the price. Staff was one of, if not the most, friendly in the area.
Course, greens and trails need work
Weeds on all greens plus the coarse grass doesn't allow putts to roll. One hour delay due to frost - no control or scheduling of late tee off times. Groups had to sort themselves out and stand in line. No food, drinks or grill open all day. Water on 16 holes does add to challenge.
course was in bad shape
according to the guy in the pro shop, the course is about to be sold so they are "letting it all go" aka no maintenance. the greens were super slow. the only fairways that had decent grass was 12, 16, and 18. when making the turn it took me about 10 minutes to find the back 9. there was no beverage cart to be found. at the end of the day i had a ton of mud to clean off of my clubs and clothes.
There are some interesting holes.
The course was in a really bad conditions, not much grass in the fairways and the grass on greens also looked dead.
Needs work, especially the greens.
Played with a lovely twosome from Penn. My wife enjoyed the course and even played the full 18 holes. It does require some seeding.as the greens were bumpy and they contained too may weeds. Bunkers need attention.
Inexpensive golf
For the money, well worth the time playing this course
this course needs work
This course needs a lot of work, so don't expect the conditions that you'd see up and down the Strand, however for the price we paid I have no complaints. There appears to be very little play. The day were were there we saw only one other 4some and therefore were able to play in 3 hours.
Good value for price paid from golfnow
Course was quite wet from 3 days of rain, the back nine was quite challenging and did require some difficult shots to be executed with long carries over water.
