Colonial Charters Golf Club

About
Colonial Charters Golf Club (formerly known as Palmetto Greens) is located in Longs, S.C. near Myrtle Beach. It has a laid-back atmosphere and is known for its consistently good conditions. The layout will test your accuracy with narrow, fairways and a variety of water hazards and sand traps. Golfers will encounter water on nearly every hole, two of them feature greenside waterfalls. There are also several strategically placed bunkers throughout the golf course and mature hardwoods line the fairways. There are a few challenging holes but overall it is player friendly enough for any skill level to approach with confidence. In addition to the golf course, Colonial Charters Golf Club has a practice facility with a driving range and chipping and putting areas. For those who are still learning, there are PGA Professionals available for lessons.

Greens were in poor condition when I played.
Had a great price. If you want a trip of golf AND get an amazing deal then you get out and hit some balls. But if you pay too much for a round here you will be disappointed.
Course was straightforward with very little challenge on the front 9. 18 was amazing and in pristine condition.
Fairly easy course. Wasn't in great condition, but was well worth the price. Staff was one of, if not the most, friendly in the area.
Course, greens and trails need work
Weeds on all greens plus the coarse grass doesn't allow putts to roll. One hour delay due to frost - no control or scheduling of late tee off times. Groups had to sort themselves out and stand in line. No food, drinks or grill open all day. Water on 16 holes does add to challenge.
course was in bad shape
according to the guy in the pro shop, the course is about to be sold so they are "letting it all go" aka no maintenance. the greens were super slow. the only fairways that had decent grass was 12, 16, and 18. when making the turn it took me about 10 minutes to find the back 9. there was no beverage cart to be found. at the end of the day i had a ton of mud to clean off of my clubs and clothes.
There are some interesting holes.
The course was in a really bad conditions, not much grass in the fairways and the grass on greens also looked dead.
Needs work, especially the greens.
Played with a lovely twosome from Penn. My wife enjoyed the course and even played the full 18 holes. It does require some seeding.as the greens were bumpy and they contained too may weeds. Bunkers need attention.
Inexpensive golf
For the money, well worth the time playing this course
this course needs work
This course needs a lot of work, so don't expect the conditions that you'd see up and down the Strand, however for the price we paid I have no complaints. There appears to be very little play. The day were were there we saw only one other 4some and therefore were able to play in 3 hours.
Good value for price paid from golfnow
Course was quite wet from 3 days of rain, the back nine was quite challenging and did require some difficult shots to be executed with long carries over water.
Should have been closed
The course was basically unplayable due to rain but was not closed. Staff person who was there (and there was only one) was friendly enough. Course layout was good but the greens are small and not in great shape. Cart paths are rough but the tree roots have created many problems with the paths that probably can't be avoided.
The course offers excellent value for the money.
Course was in fair shape, bearing in mind it was January 15th, 2013. The course plays short. Accuracy is most important. The cart paths could use a little attention. Some big potholes along the way. All in all, it is excellent value for the fee paid through GolfNow.com Very friendly staff. One employee cleaned my wife's golf shoes after the round. We will be returning.
great course and value for the money
My wife and I played 9 holes and enjoyed it very much. The course was challenging but not over bearing. We will definitly be back.
Nice greens....
My Garmen GPS could not pull up the course. So I was stuck with identifying their markers, which were not that easy to locate. Staff was nice, but the carts need to be replaced asap.
Love the location...
A great day with my son's, who are just learning...
A good course for both beginners and average golfers...
The price was great... And kids under 16 are free with a paid adult...
Getting better each day
Great value for the price. Greens have been redone and are a major improvement over last season. Multiple forced carries over water and quite a few lateral water hazards also. Great course for snowbirds who can not get local rates at the resort courses or have no desire to pay that much for a winter round of golf.
A nice place to be
We play this course twice in a week and we love it. The staff is awesome, very friendly and helpfull.
The course is a slepping beauty. OK, the first nine needs some work and "love". But we have seen a few greenkeeper, they are doing the jobs. But the back nine are in very good condition for november and very nice! The Course is a little bit challenging!
The back nine are really beautyfull holes!
I think the course have a hard impact trough the financial crisis the last years, but folks get there and play, so the Palmetto Golf and Country Club can still live!
The Carts we drove, are all very good. Everything works and they was clean.
At the time we play this course, there are not so many players there, so we can play a fast round!
Amazing price offers, you must see!!!!
Nice layout.
The course was pretty wet. Apparently, this area has had a lot of rain this month. So, the tee boxes & fairways hadn't been mowed for awhile. The cart paths need some work; but, great cart paths are not one of my priorities. This course has some tough holes. I liked the layout and enjoyed playing the course. For what I paid, this was a steal. I would play this course again.
Okay for the price.
This course is in pretty rough shape but an okay course for the $24 we paid on GolfNow. The greens were super slow and not in good shape. Cart paths are in disrepair. There are some very challenging holes and water carries on quite a few.
Course is in poor condition especially thr fairways.
Course did not have correct Golfnow information - wanted to charge consideraby more. Took 20 minutes to checkin although course was not busy.
