Colonial Charters Golf Club

About
Colonial Charters Golf Club (formerly known as Palmetto Greens) is located in Longs, S.C. near Myrtle Beach. It has a laid-back atmosphere and is known for its consistently good conditions. The layout will test your accuracy with narrow, fairways and a variety of water hazards and sand traps. Golfers will encounter water on nearly every hole, two of them feature greenside waterfalls. There are also several strategically placed bunkers throughout the golf course and mature hardwoods line the fairways. There are a few challenging holes but overall it is player friendly enough for any skill level to approach with confidence. In addition to the golf course, Colonial Charters Golf Club has a practice facility with a driving range and chipping and putting areas. For those who are still learning, there are PGA Professionals available for lessons.

Great value through golfnow. Course was in decent shape for fall play.
Greens were a lot faster then they appeared. Course was in good shape and was enjoyable. Not busy at all, we played 18 in under 3 hours!
ok course, greens in good shape
fair conductions good for the price, I booked on line through "golf now". Cart paths need some work. Greens in good shape. I played there three time the week on 10/21/12
Much improved
We really like Palmetto, and have been golfing there for years, it is a beautiful course with some challenging holes, the course is well layer out. 2 years ago we stopped going there because of the declining conditions of the course, however we went this year again, and I am happy to say the course is much improved, the greens are in great shape compared to my last time there, and there is signs of improvements around the course, staff was very friendly, great job Palmetto!
A fun course.
This could be an absolutely beautiful course. With a little more work it will be. Great value for Myrtle Beach golf.
Playable with some challenging holes.
The course is fair, average condition but improving. Needs some work on drainage due to damp places. All in all, a good value for the money.
Play if you have a discount
Greens are new, sparce but rolled.
Fairways are sparce, bunkers not raked.
Tees are over grown and in rough shape.
Some good holes on the back, front is bland.
Friendly staff, good for the hot deal price.
Fair course for $15 golf now price
Good course for $15 Would not play the course at full price. In decent shape but not equal to other courses in the area.
Poor conditioned golf course
This course needs significant work in terms of maintenance and day-to-day upkeep. Bunkers have little to no sand and many weeds. Greens are in very poor condition with little evidence of regular rotation of cups. Fairways were not draining correctly from recent rain but also needed attention ( bare spots). Unless you are looking for a very inexpensive round of golf and do not care about the conditions of the course, stay away. One staff member was friendly and put up a brave face despite the course conditions.
Nice layout but undergoing renovation
We first played this course in early spring knowing that it was a course recently resurrected and therefore a work in process. We found the course to have wide fairways, many water holes and a back nine layout we enjoyed. The greens were in bad shape and tees were in need of work. We played the course again in September and found greens and some tees to be in much better condition as management continues to invest in upgrading the course. The carts are old but clean and functional. The staff is friendly and informative. The course still needs work but has the potential to be one of the better plays in the future. The course is a fair test for all average golfers.
needs work to course
needs work maybe new owners will up grade the course
