About
Baytowne Golf Club at Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort is routed from the beach to the bay, providing stunning views along the way. The course rolls across the few elevation changes that the area has to offer. Although it opened in 1984, the golf course didn't reach its peak until it underwent extensive renovation in 2005, which were carried out by the original designer, Tom Jackson. The layout features rolling fairways lined with mature pines that are generous and times but can be tight when you least expect it. The large, undulating greens can also play faster than what you might be expecting. Water, which comes into play on 12 holes, is a prominent feature of Baytowne Golf Club as are the numerous bunkers strategically placed throughout.

The guys in the pro shop were really nice. The course is short with a lot of bunkers, it was pretty wet around the greens. Green speed is slow but seemed to roll fine. Pace was a bit slow, these course don’t seem crowded but all the tee times were taken. Hard to explain. Worth playing if you are staying in Sandestin. Driving range was a bit rough and balls were dirty.
Fun morning after frost delay
Have played here about five or six times. Course is in good shape. There was a one hour and 45 minute frost delay, but the proshop did not bother to email everyone about it like other clubs do.
Great experience
Really nice course, especially for the money. I brought my son and junior's get to play for free. The course actually had junior tees which were perfect for my 7 yr old.
Poor Baytowne in Rough Shape
I've played here for 25 years about twice a year, and yesterday, I found the course in the worst shape ever. The greens are glorified shag carpet; your living room carpet has a truer and crisper roll. The green fringes and traps were untended and uncared for. It is December but the fairways were in tough shape and quite wet (not from rain). The staff is great; the food is great; even the rental clubs were great. But this is a wake up call to management: there are plenty of options for golf in the area and you all need to step up your game, pronto.
Conditions
Range was closed, no notice on their website, carts were rough only, no notice on their website.
It would be nice to see this info posted so as to cancel and rebook at a later date to experience the course at its best.

Great course and staff, but the sand traps are mud pits.
Great course and staff, but it is in serious need of Maintance. The sand traps have eroded into mud pits and cart paths are badly broken up.

Nice course. Club drop off staff nice. Course wet from previous day’s rain. Cart path only. Still good pace. Sand bunker sand not very deep. Somewhat like hitting off of hard pan in places. Overall nice course.

Will never be back
I’ve played this course 3-4 times a year for the past 10 years. The greens could not have been in worse condition. The reason I will never be back is because they charged me $105 to play and because of the condition of the greens, it wasn’t worth $50. The staff did NOT mention the condition of the greens……they just took our money knowing the course sucked. Way too many better options in Destin to ever go back to this course.
