About
Baytowne Golf Club at Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort is routed from the beach to the bay, providing stunning views along the way. The course rolls across the few elevation changes that the area has to offer. Although it opened in 1984, the golf course didn't reach its peak until it underwent extensive renovation in 2005, which were carried out by the original designer, Tom Jackson. The layout features rolling fairways lined with mature pines that are generous and times but can be tight when you least expect it. The large, undulating greens can also play faster than what you might be expecting. Water, which comes into play on 12 holes, is a prominent feature of Baytowne Golf Club as are the numerous bunkers strategically placed throughout.

Conditions
Range was closed, no notice on their website, carts were rough only, no notice on their website.
It would be nice to see this info posted so as to cancel and rebook at a later date to experience the course at its best.

Great course and staff, but the sand traps are mud pits.
Great course and staff, but it is in serious need of Maintance. The sand traps have eroded into mud pits and cart paths are badly broken up.

Nice course. Club drop off staff nice. Course wet from previous day’s rain. Cart path only. Still good pace. Sand bunker sand not very deep. Somewhat like hitting off of hard pan in places. Overall nice course.

Will never be back
I’ve played this course 3-4 times a year for the past 10 years. The greens could not have been in worse condition. The reason I will never be back is because they charged me $105 to play and because of the condition of the greens, it wasn’t worth $50. The staff did NOT mention the condition of the greens……they just took our money knowing the course sucked. Way too many better options in Destin to ever go back to this course.
Keep it in the fairway
When on vacation on 30A, I like to work in at least one round at Baytowne. The course is always well maintained. It has lots of water and sand hazards, so I have to discipline myself to keep it in the fairway with a conservative strategy and a cocky swing. I can score here from the blue tees with fairway woods and irons if my driver does not behave.

Beautiful Baytowne
The course was in pristine shape. The course gave a warning about greens that were in overseed recovery. They gave the appropriate discounted rate. I would have paid full price though. The conditions did not noticeably negatively impact my round. There was rain the previous two days and it was muddy, but that was expected. I actually had my best round in years so that helped too.

Greens were terrible
The overall layout of the course is a good track and challenge. If I would’ve been informed that the greens had been over seeded, and were probably the slowest greens I have ever played on I would’ve never played there.

Don't get out of the truck
There are a lot of lousy reviews about this course due to the greens being in poor condition. Hey! that's true. They have an invasive grass issue and it's a sad story. This is a fun layout and the staff are all really good people. Don't take it out on them. Go play and enjoy the layout. It's a fun golf course.

Good course except for greens.
The overall course was good and enjoyable. However it did not appear that the greens had been rolled or mowed for a while. They were quite slow and rather bumpy. A little care with greens and would b very enjoyable course. Staff is great, very friendly and helpful. Hope greens are in better condition my next trip.
