Baytowne at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort

Greens are in terrible shape. Very difficult to putt when the balls are bouncing all over the place. Very slow also.

Greens as bad or worse than neglected municipal course.

Have played Baytowne many times over the years and I have to say that the course is currently in the worst shape I've ever seen. Normally, the courses here (Baytowne, Links, Raven) are in pristine condition. However on my most recent round (10/24/2023), the greens were horrible. Bare spots, bumpy, and the slowest I've experienced. Never got a bounce free roll. Sand was also sparse in some of the bunkers and packed in places. Only good news is that the fairways seemed to be in good shape. Normally, the price at the time of day that I played is $100. Even at half that cost, I'd look elsewhere until they fix the greens. Staff I talked to agreed and said playing the Links or Raven courses were a better bet. Definitely not my most enjoyable day on the course.

Too much watering, soft everywhere, greens in poor shape, glad we had a deal or would really be griping! Years of this going on! Appearance not up to par in several areas. Beautiful location though!

I've played this course for a number of years, and I love the layout. The tees were good, the fairways were nice, BUT the greens were so poor. They had not been cut in days, the cups had not been changed in days, the bermuda greens were full of goose grass weeds, and were not really puttable.

Until they scrape the greens and replant them, I will be playing Links or Raven instead.

I have been playing this course since 1990. The greens are in very poor condition. Uou couldn't putt with any accuracy

From the bag drop workers, pro shop, snack area & starters, everyone very friendly & accommodating. Very impressed with the people and the Raven's course.

We were scheduled to play Baytowne course but the guy in pro shop said the greens were not in good shape so he was able to switch us to the Raven's course which was ideal.

It would be nice if the online booking would have warned us about the greens ahead of time.. Otherwise everything was great! RC, Dothan, AL.

I heard that it is normally one of the best courses around. Not at the moment. Spoke to several people while playing the Links course(great condition) two separate days, who all said Baytowne was not in the best condition. Hit the green in two and 3 putt for hairy greens. Had not rolled in weeks. Lots of crab grass on the green. Not well maintained.

The course had just hosted a four day college tournament so the green were not up to its usual standard but it was still a very enjoyable round

Greens are the worst I have ever played. Do not waste your money. Crab grass everywhere around the greens and in the fairways. Do not play here!

Really? I’ll try to be as. Ice as possible. The greens here are TRASH. Literally, the worst greens Ive played on this entire year, anywhere in the country. I overlooked the “pasture” that was the practice putting and chipping green KNOWING that there’s no way the actual greens on the course are that bad - wrong! And they still charged $100 + with no warning about the condition of the greens. It got so frustrating, that the group I played with (and they live in the area and are “regulars”) just said if you hit the green in reg, its an automatic 2 putt - nobody wanted to try and “adjust” to those llaying conditions.

Really put a damper on what was a beautiful day.

The greens were in horrific condition. Definitely not worth the money.

I was a single player and arrived an hour early hoping I would be joined up with an earlier group. Waiting by the starter, he let me sit there as two threesomes came and teed off. Then he sends off a group of 5, a family playing best ball. Who does that? Finally he adds me to a twosome and made us wait for another single. Then he sends off a single behind us. This guy had his arms crossed the whole time, waiting for us. The greens had four different types of grass growing on them and were bumpy, like putting on shag carpet. Not worth $105!!!

Played here 2 days in a row. First day gave them a pass. Greens are very rough and bumpy. Worst than any muni courses I’ve played. It was raining all day before so I get it they didn’t cut and roll the greens. The next day played at Baytowne again. Asked the starter if they moved the greens, nope! What the heck?!?! Why not? Didn’t rain all day yesterday and today. Even worse today since all the scuff marks and even longer grass present.

Can’t believe they let this beautiful course go this downhill. And to change $100 plus tax for this junk is unbelievable. I always look forward to playing here with friends and family during fall break but this was unacceptable. Not worth $20 plus jam packed slow play as usual.

Get your act Together and take care of your greens or stop charging 5x what it should be.
