About
Baytowne Golf Club at Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort is routed from the beach to the bay, providing stunning views along the way. The course rolls across the few elevation changes that the area has to offer. Although it opened in 1984, the golf course didn't reach its peak until it underwent extensive renovation in 2005, which were carried out by the original designer, Tom Jackson. The layout features rolling fairways lined with mature pines that are generous and times but can be tight when you least expect it. The large, undulating greens can also play faster than what you might be expecting. Water, which comes into play on 12 holes, is a prominent feature of Baytowne Golf Club as are the numerous bunkers strategically placed throughout.

Very Fair Course & Nice Lay Out
The Course is a very picturesque layout. Fairways were in good shape….. greens were a little thick & pro shop advised us of this …due to taking measures to enhance improvements to greens. Will play there again this week. Fair price on Golf Now for nice course. I would like to commend the Starter - Dennis - He is true ambassador for the course … outgoing with positive attitude & Wonderful sense of Humor ..
Greens are unplayable
The greens are horrible with lots of bumps due to I think some kind of insect or worm. The staff warned us before we played but we were already at the course, it should have been noted on the Golfnow web information.
Still no warning on Golfnow about your greens as of 10/12

First time playing Baytowne
Loved the course! Greens needed a lot of work. Other than the greens being horrible the course was in excellent shape. We were told about the greens before play. Still happy with the experience.

Aesthetic
Beautiful overall look. Staff were great. Carts in good repair and comfortable. The main complaint is the greens were in pitiful shape. Slow and bumpy with spike marks everywhere.

Layout was great. Course personnel were awesome. But the greens were in such bad shape it negatively impacted our experience. Wish they had adjusted the cost to reflect the poor condition of the greens.

Almost
Staff was great and course layout is good. Our only issues is the greens. When we checked in the staff let us know that there were some issues with the greens and they were working on it. We were told the greens had been aerated awhile back and had not came in yet. We went ahead and played because we enjoy the layout and overall experience is always enjoyable. Will be back and play again next year.

Nice course for all levels of play.
The staff was nice and the drink cart came by several times. The course offers level of play for beginners and up with the choice of tees. The greens were slow since they had just been aerated.
Our only real issue was the four guys ahead of us that didn’t know what they were doing and insisted on playing the back tees. They slowed our play significantly and the people behind us just gave up and left. They needed a pro around to tell these guys to speed it up and play from the front tees.
We apologize for the pace of play issue you experienced. We always try to keep a great pace when having our golfers on the course. Beautiful Course Bad Greens
A great setting and place to play golf. Fairways were good, greens in poor shape, sand traps hard sand (but that worked well when having to hit from the fairway bunkers.

Go somewhere else
Greens are terrible, especially front nine. When is the owner gonna dig up these mutated Bermuda greens on Baytowne and the links?!?! Layouts are fun but dated. Much better options around Destin.

Worst greens ever
I am a member of the golf club at Sandestin.
Never have I seen greens so poorly maintained, and many other parts of a course with more neglect. Tee boxes not level, no grass, fairways okay. Greens horrible. Bumpy and slow, full of weeds, crabgrass, bare spots. What is going on? Nobody is this bad at growing grass. I would like an answer in a response from the greenskeeper. I’m nobody special just a member. But I do pay dues and expect at least some effort from the staff.

I’ve played a lot of golf at many different courses over the past 20 years and these Greens are undoubtedly the worst I’ve ever seen at any golf course I’ve played. The course at best is a $50 course and I was charged $105. The reason I paid the $105 is because NO ONE at the course or in the pro shop told us that the greens were basically un-puttable. It’s untelling how long it’s been since the cups have been moved because the grass is DEAD around the cups. It’s just unbelievable how bad the greens are at this course. I play this course EVERY time I’m in Destin BUT today was my very last time EVER!

Do not play this course if you like to putt. Greens are as shaggy as 1970s carpet. Staff was great. Layout is awesome. But can not score due to greens.

Overpriced and terrible conditions
The course was a fun and challenging course but the greens were atrocious. There were spots of crab grass gowing on them but the worst part was they were about 25 inches too long. It was like putting on shag carpet. For the condition of the course, it was extremely overpriced. It should have cost $25 not $80. I won't play here again.

Baytown Golf
Course was amazing. Rough was rough. Layout was challenging. Had to make shots. Greens were punched and sanded. Front 9 was brutal for putting. Back was better but challenging because front 9 was so different. We decided to enjoy the course and each other than focus on the greens. Highly recommend the course
