About
Baytowne Golf Club at Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort is routed from the beach to the bay, providing stunning views along the way. The course rolls across the few elevation changes that the area has to offer. Although it opened in 1984, the golf course didn't reach its peak until it underwent extensive renovation in 2005, which were carried out by the original designer, Tom Jackson. The layout features rolling fairways lined with mature pines that are generous and times but can be tight when you least expect it. The large, undulating greens can also play faster than what you might be expecting. Water, which comes into play on 12 holes, is a prominent feature of Baytowne Golf Club as are the numerous bunkers strategically placed throughout.

Fun layout
I have played this course several times within the past year and I like the layout. It's playable with enough trouble around to make you think about it. The summer heat pounded the greens after aeration so they are coming back slowly. Free range balls, friendly staff, on the lower price scale for Destin area play. I will keep coming back.

A Goat Farm pretending to be a high-end resort
Course has the worst greens I have ever experienced on a resort course. Greens were at least 1/2 inch high, full of crabgrass and completely unplayable. Staff was unapologetically rude and said just to relax and play. Very unacceptable and wouldn't put us on one of the other courses for full price. Will never play this course again. Indian Bayou was in much better shape and was a nice course

Baytowne golf course
Baytowne golf course is in horrible condition. They should shut the course down until they can figure the greens out. There are weeds and overgrowth on the the greens. They probably havent been cut in over a week nor had the pin placement been adjusted. If i had known the course was in this condition i never would have mad a reservation. Even charging a reduced rate was toi much. The price should be lowered down to about 30 per person given the course conditions

Sandestine Golf
I have been attempting to play Baytown for some time and finally got my chance. Baytown did not let me down. The greens had been aerated recently and have not fully recovered but I made the best of the situation. The layout is great and the fairways are perfect. The staff was great and the Chicken Salad sandwich at the Turn was great. I would recommend all to paly this course.

Baytowne
Absolutely the worst greens I have ever played. Not worth the time or money.
DO NOT PLAY THIS COURSE IT SHOULD NOT BE OPEN, THE GREENS ARE HORRIBLE!!
Usually in better condition
We play this course every time we come down. (Usually twice a year). This is the worst I have ever seen it. The cups haven’t been moved in weeks maybe months. The greens were like putting on shag carpet. Very disappointing.

Got to know the sand traps well!
Fun course. Lots of water and sand traps! Wasn’t my best outing but I enjoyed it. I played during the aeration of the greens so I didn’t get a feel for the greens. Look forward to playing it again.

BAD GREENS
Greens were extremely slow . I have never seen them in that kind of condition.

Wait till the greens are puttable again
I played this golf course a lot, but yesterday the greens were horrible. It feels like a brillo pad, it's very slow and inconsistent texture. It's somewhat burned on some of the greens. Maybe because it's been so hot lately.
This is the first time that I experienced this kind of a very slow inconsistent greens. The group in front of me and my group were shaving off 2 strokes of their putts. They were complaining about the greens too.

Not a good place to play after it rain the day before
The course was soggy in most of the fairways and roughs. The greens were the same and it was like putting on a shag carpet. It rain the day before and I expected it to be much better by the next day but it was not the case. Not a well drainage system at this course. They lay out of the course was great. This is probably a better course when it dries. They also paired my wife and I with a couple that had no golf etiquettes and would tee off twice for each person at the tee and sometimes hit two balls when they didn't like their first shot. They should think about pairing people based on handicap instead of time slots just to make extra money....

Greens need a lot of work
Overall I do like this course, but the greens need a lot of work. I was warned by the pro shop that the greens didn’t come in as expected which was good to know prior to the round. The greens were dead but somehow very fluffy like they hadn’t been rolled in weeks. Some rolling would do these greens wonders. It had rained the few days prior to me playing so the course was a little soggy but nothing too bad. They closed the driving range because of the rain the few days prior which was frustrating because I wasn’t warmed up until hole 5-6. The layout is great and pretty challenging. Definitely some target golf off of the tee. I would recommend relocating the blue tees because there is quite a yardage gap between the tips and the blues. Playing from the blues makes the course too short and from the tips is too long for someone of my skill level. I would play here again but only if the greens are taken care of.

Received a reduced rate because greens were aerated recently. Aerated would’ve been tolerable but these greens were long and had many weeds. Definitely disappointed.
