About
Baytowne Golf Club at Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort is routed from the beach to the bay, providing stunning views along the way. The course rolls across the few elevation changes that the area has to offer. Although it opened in 1984, the golf course didn't reach its peak until it underwent extensive renovation in 2005, which were carried out by the original designer, Tom Jackson. The layout features rolling fairways lined with mature pines that are generous and times but can be tight when you least expect it. The large, undulating greens can also play faster than what you might be expecting. Water, which comes into play on 12 holes, is a prominent feature of Baytowne Golf Club as are the numerous bunkers strategically placed throughout.

Enjoyable round
The green were being fall seeded, but playable. Enjoyable layout with great views.
Good course, poor green conditions
Greens are impossible to putt. On some greens, the grass is too long and needs to be rolled. On others, the grass is short and fast, but filled with weeds.
Tees are weedy.
The fairways are mostly plush and nice.
Rough is high and tough. Easy to lose a ball in the rough.
Having said all of that, tee-to-green play is fine and enjoyable. Putting is just miserable. This ONLY true on Baytowne. Other Sandestin courses greens are in great shape.

We were told the greens had been aerated and sandy. There was no sand they just haven't cut the greens for an extended time, with weeds growing on them. It was miserable.

Great course!
The tee boxes, fairways, and rough areas are all well maintained. The only negative is the greens don't roll well, patchy and inconsistent. Other than that we enjoyed our round, was a great value the price.

Fun layout
I have played this course several times within the past year and I like the layout. It's playable with enough trouble around to make you think about it. The summer heat pounded the greens after aeration so they are coming back slowly. Free range balls, friendly staff, on the lower price scale for Destin area play. I will keep coming back.

A Goat Farm pretending to be a high-end resort
Course has the worst greens I have ever experienced on a resort course. Greens were at least 1/2 inch high, full of crabgrass and completely unplayable. Staff was unapologetically rude and said just to relax and play. Very unacceptable and wouldn't put us on one of the other courses for full price. Will never play this course again. Indian Bayou was in much better shape and was a nice course

Baytowne golf course
Baytowne golf course is in horrible condition. They should shut the course down until they can figure the greens out. There are weeds and overgrowth on the the greens. They probably havent been cut in over a week nor had the pin placement been adjusted. If i had known the course was in this condition i never would have mad a reservation. Even charging a reduced rate was toi much. The price should be lowered down to about 30 per person given the course conditions

Sandestine Golf
I have been attempting to play Baytown for some time and finally got my chance. Baytown did not let me down. The greens had been aerated recently and have not fully recovered but I made the best of the situation. The layout is great and the fairways are perfect. The staff was great and the Chicken Salad sandwich at the Turn was great. I would recommend all to paly this course.

Absolutely the worst greens I have ever played. Not worth the time or money.
