Baytowne at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort

Didn’t get to play and still had to pay $20 to reserve it

As a local to this area, this is by far the worst course in the emerald coast for this price point. With the exception of the starter, the rest of the staff was not friendly at all. In the end, save your money or go somewhere else for the same price. The sister course at the links is very good and the staff is amazing over there.

Coarse was in good shape after all the rain. Would have liked to have had carts 90°, but understand that it was too wet for that.

Wish they let players know the greens were being top dressed and maybe cut a break on pricing because of it.

The greens were rough and need help. Can’t see any evidence of attempts to improve them. Also, the paths need maintenance with quite a few big cracks. Lots of deferred maintenance.

So, the course layout is nice…no complaints there. When I booked I did not know the course was cart path only, so that was horrible…especially in the heat of the day and having to cover a lot of ground when you were on the opposite side of the fairway! As bad as that was, the worst thing about the coarse is the greens! They are garbage in my opinion, especially for the cost to play! I’m not sure if they had disease issues or what, but this coarse should be discounted! Additionally, the greens mower is mowing at different heights from one side to other. I could run my hand across the cut line and feel an 1/8” difference at least! Very disappointing!!

The course was in great shape except for a few fairways and almost all of the greens. The greens had multiple grasses, weeds, etc. and had been cut in such a way that left them damaged with brown streaks.

A fun, accessible course to play while on vacation. Friendly staff, and an overall enjoyable experience. Would be happy to play again if in the SanDestin area.

Some dead spots on some greens. Great place overall.

Good course layout. Lots of water and bunkers. Short course. Bermuda grass rough wasn’t too long. Course was extremely wet from rain, greens weren’t mowed in awhile, like putting on fairway.

Golfers beware: $130 for crabgrass greens. Many of the blue tee boxes were moved up to whites because they haven’t a cut back trees overhanging the tee shot. San Destin has fallen off as a resort quality course

I played Baytowne on multiple occasions. This experience was the worst of them all. Greens were not maintained well and the grass was not trimmed on or around the greens. I was highly disappointed in the golf round. Additionally we saw the cart girl only twice and it was over 90 degrees out. The first time we saw her was on 5 and we got beverages. The next time was right as we made the turn so we didn't need anything from her as we bought from the pro shop. She never came around again and we called the pro shop to let them know we needed water as it was hot. The course has not water coolers and you cannot bring outside coolers. There should have been better management of the cart girl and course.

Several years ago I played Baytowne for the first time and was disappointed by the conditions, namely the greens. Assuming it was an anomaly given the green conditions at nearly every other course in the panhandle, including The Raven which shares a clubhouse with Baytowne, I returned this year looking forward to a fun time. I was met immediately, however, with the same conditions that left me frustrated and perplexed just like my initial visit. The course is a really fun layout that has extreme potential but clearly needs an increase in the maintenance budget. The fairways were too long and unevenly mowed with gashes in the fairway due to the mower deck, the bunkers hadn’t been touched that day, and the greens may have been the slowest, bumpiest greens I’ve ever played. The uneven mowing carried to whatever mowing they DID do on the greens creating a heavy plinko effect on greens rolling a lighting fast 4 on the stimp. There were no water coolers on the course and we saw the beverage cart only twice the whole day, the first time being on the 9th hole where a 5some spent approximately 30 minutes talking to her on the green. Slow enough we played through them thinking they had completed the hole given we had not seen them in several holes, only to be surprised when they continue on, completing the hole after we walked off the green. Given the price for the place, the expectation we’re much higher. I’d recommend spending the extra $20 to get great conditions at the Raven or expand your search beyond the Sandestin pocket.

Course was in good condition for late June. Greens had been recently sanded so not quite enough time for them to be rolling perfect but understand that is part of normal course maintenance. I am sure in early spring, course would be beautiful before the summer heat. Would definitely play again. Course layout is fair but not overly challenging.
