About
Baytowne Golf Club at Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort is routed from the beach to the bay, providing stunning views along the way. The course rolls across the few elevation changes that the area has to offer. Although it opened in 1984, the golf course didn't reach its peak until it underwent extensive renovation in 2005, which were carried out by the original designer, Tom Jackson. The layout features rolling fairways lined with mature pines that are generous and times but can be tight when you least expect it. The large, undulating greens can also play faster than what you might be expecting. Water, which comes into play on 12 holes, is a prominent feature of Baytowne Golf Club as are the numerous bunkers strategically placed throughout.

Once we arrived, we were informed about the sanding of the all greens prior week, so putting was quite a challenge.
Also, approach shots had to be high to allow for the harder conditions of the sandy greens.
Overall, we would play course again but not in month of May or June.

Great course.
Great gollf course. Everything was very good. Greens were aerated a while back and showing signs of filling in. They did play slow so it took a while to get use to that . Personally i would have liked faster greens. All in all, though, worth playing.

Needed attention
The course needs more rakes for the San traps. When a rake is not easily available people do not take the trap

Fun course.
Course greens were recently aerated and were still slow and bumpy. Will be good as usual in another week or so. Tee boxes and fairways very good.

Great course,
We really enjoy the course along with the friendly staff inside the pro shop and bag boy. The only complaint was the course marshal want not friendly at all. We were told to speed up the pace of play on two different occasions in a very rude manner. Although we finished our 9 hole in 2 hours 6 minutes. The marshal not only tried to speed us up this ruined our round of golf as we were aggravated at the situation.

Excellent course and experience except ...
.... for ONE thing: the ranger approached my group at the 6th holee (of 9) and rather brusquely "encouraged" us to pick up our pace, or we'd have to skip a hole... which we thought was weird because yes, we were about 10 minutes behind according to our cart GPS but throughout our round, NO GROUP behind us was waiting to tee off while we were at our green or even on our fairways! It was very confusing and basically soured the last 4 holes. Otherwise, EXCELLENT course and staff. I'd play it again for sure the next time I'm in Destin, but I'll also warn you to just play "ready golf" if that's the Baytowne way. I suspect that it occurred because the members are the priority but whatever.

Awesome course
Even though i played my worst game of the season so far, it was very enjoyable. Rental carts and clubs were the best ive had. Aroerated right before we came, so the greens were a little bumpy and slow but the course was amazing. Great layout. Challeneging but very fun. Thank you for having us

Good Course
Course was just aerated which we knew heading in. The greens were really long given the aeration and therefore slow. The course overall was in great shape and played pretty fair, not overly long and a nice mix of water and sand throughout.
Staff in the clubhouse was less than friendly but the staff in the bar as well as the starters and other on course staff were super friendly. Pace was pretty slow but a Marshall did come around trying to help speed things up without having to be called.

Normally a great course.
The greens had been recently aerated with large holes and no one told me about this, I would have played a different course if they had. Second, they let a fivesome play ahead of us and they had two empty holes in front of them which caused us to have a 5-hour round. The course Marshall thought this was normal and they let five sons play all the time. I would let the greens heal about 2 weeks before I would play this course

Not worth the money.
The greens were so slow and lumpy they were almost unputtable and would ruin your touch on good greens. Pace of play was slow. we waited on almost every tee. So slow that the twosome we were paired with left at hole 13. When we mentioned this in the pro shop afterwards they just didn't care.
Also the fairways were rough and hard. Course layout was average.
There are better similar priced courses nearby like Kelly Plantation.

Nice course, definite play again
My round started out with great support staff getting my bag and setting me up wishing me a great round and asking me if I needed anything else. He continued with a Course that was well set up and very well-maintained. The ground continued with very nice scenery and a lot of nature which made it even more enjoyable. I will definitely play this course again.

Baytowne...good alternative to Raven
By far, I prefer the Raven course at Sandestin, but "any port in a storm..." Back nine is kind-of rough, esp holes 12-14.

Slow
Course was nice but the round took over 5 hours. The staff let a group that had already played 18 holes tee off without a tee time ahead of us and it slowed everything up. Not worth the money but a fun course to play
