About
Baytowne Golf Club at Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort is routed from the beach to the bay, providing stunning views along the way. The course rolls across the few elevation changes that the area has to offer. Although it opened in 1984, the golf course didn't reach its peak until it underwent extensive renovation in 2005, which were carried out by the original designer, Tom Jackson. The layout features rolling fairways lined with mature pines that are generous and times but can be tight when you least expect it. The large, undulating greens can also play faster than what you might be expecting. Water, which comes into play on 12 holes, is a prominent feature of Baytowne Golf Club as are the numerous bunkers strategically placed throughout.

Nice resort course
My only negative comment was that the over seeded greens were slow, otherwise conditions were good.
Cold and Windy Day
Many cancellations as temps were in the low 50s with winds over 20 mph. As a result, our 3-some was able to move quickly around the course which was in very good shape. My only criticism is that the greens continue to be much slower than they should be on a course of this quality.

Nice course but
I really enjoyed playing Baytown and will play it again. The only issue I had was that there were a couple of guys on the right end of the driving range that were very inconsiderate. There were several of us waiting to get some practice time on the range and the two guys were occupy the spots with their cubs and stuff were just standing there talking. I finally got another spot and hit a few balls because there were people waiting in line and those two guys were still just standing there talking. This is the second time this happened at this course.

Course was a little wet. Cart path only. Greens were slow. Other than those two items, great layout and fun course to play.

Nice Course, Doesn't Drain Very Well

Not a good value
For what we paid, compared to what else is in the area, I would not ever play here again. The course was not in good shape, dead grass everywhere and incredibly slow greens. Course is just not maintained well. Any other course, including any other sandestin course would be a better value.
Enjoyable Round
It was a little cold (and didn't warm up until after the turn) but we had no one in front, nor anyone directly behind. We finished in under 4 hours. We played this course last summer and the difference in conditions was night and day (better this time around). The only thing we did not appreciate was the grounds crew watering greens while we were trying to putt - nothing like dodging a sprinkler to putt your ball quickly.

Disappointed
Drainage pipes in Bunkers on #3 and #15 were exposed. Some renovation is needed. Pace of play was slow and overbooked. Waited for carts 10 minutes before Tee Time.

Fun Layout
Fun course. Good price. Very good conditions. Shared Driving range with the adjacent course so that was busy. Staff is great. Will definitely come back.

Holes # 3 and #15 had drainage pipes exposed in the bunker. Hole 13 needs renovation. Fairway shortgrass was not treated with pre emerge. Finally, course was overbooked, reminds me of Myrtle Beach, which backed up play and short on carts.

Enjoyable round
We played this course in the summer and this time around it was in much better shape. Excellent pace of play (no one in front of us and no one behind us for a couple of holes). It was fairly cold so we didn’t see the beverage cart regularly (also didn’t need it). Maintenance was watering the greens on the last couple of holes, including while we were trying to finish up (hard to putt when you are dodging sprinklers in temps in the 50s)., Also, bag check was NOT helpful when we left - did not help with clubs at all.
