About
Baytowne Golf Club at Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort is routed from the beach to the bay, providing stunning views along the way. The course rolls across the few elevation changes that the area has to offer. Although it opened in 1984, the golf course didn't reach its peak until it underwent extensive renovation in 2005, which were carried out by the original designer, Tom Jackson. The layout features rolling fairways lined with mature pines that are generous and times but can be tight when you least expect it. The large, undulating greens can also play faster than what you might be expecting. Water, which comes into play on 12 holes, is a prominent feature of Baytowne Golf Club as are the numerous bunkers strategically placed throughout.

Needs work
Fairways, bunkers, and tee boxes were in good condition but the greens (save for one or two) were some of the worst I’ve seen. Just awful. Driving range was closed and a very small practice area for chipping/putting. In relation to the green fee, this course fell well below expectation
Aging course; nice staff
Greens were below average. Bumpy greens. Course etiquette by the non-golfers staying around the course was very poor. Layout is fine but on a crowded day course can easily see a lot of slow pace. Fortunately not very crowded.

The greens
The greens were not in very good condition. With all of the rain the last week the rest of the course was very playable

Terrible greens for the fee
No reason greens in this area should be in this condition. Water, sand, mow, something. Speeds were inconsistent, uneven mowing, random grass sprouts affecting the line. Disappointing.

DO NOT USE GOLF PASS
It is best to call the course itself to book a tee time. Golf Pass is difficult to use excpecially if you are cancelled due to weather, I had to call 4 times to get my money back and they said it was a one time courtesy - The old course was closed and they have your money before you play so not worth it I would say only a HOT DEAL is possible worth it if you book the day before and know the weather will be good. Sandestin get rid of golf pass

Baytowne - About What You'd Expect at the Beach
Super wet so some spots were mucky. Some holes weren't as 'loved' as others (on the backside of the course towards the beach). Not worth over $80-90 a round. Staff was super helpful. Starter kept things moving.

Half good half bad
Fairways, rough, most tee boxes were in good shape. Course layout was a bit challenging in terms of forcing longer hitters to decide risk vs. reward. Greens were slow with inconsistent speed between greens. Small greens as well which wouldn't have been as bad if there was consistent speed, firmness between each. Parts of the back nine could use some more love as the front nine was in great shape.

Dirty cart, no scorecard, no towel, greens painfully slow, no yardage markers, 5-some in front of me that didn’t even know to let me thru, no Marshall, no water on the course. Will never go back. It’s like they gave up

A little wet
Overall is a fun course. Enough risk/reward to make it interesting. Only negative was the course was very wet. Had to keep carts in the rough otherwise had a fun time.

Not worth the Money
We had a good time and pace of play was great! I think 3 stars is a fair rating. Staff was very nice, course was average condition and no better than my local muni that cost $45 to play. The price point was just to high for what the course was.

Good course, bad shape
Course layout was challenging and beautiful, but the course itself was not in good shape. The greens, in particular, were awful and had patches of burnt grass (played slow) and somewhat normal grass (played fast) all over the place. It’s obvious they’re doing some kind of work to the greens, but that should have been posted on their site and reflected in the price. A $100+/round course in it’s current state it is not.
