Golfers standing on the Ranch’s first tee might feel, for a second, that they’re on a links course. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/19/2021

The seventh green. This hole is typical of the par-4’s here: fairly long and definitely challenging. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/19/2021
-
The ninth, par-5, 540. “Glacier,” as this hole is dubbed, plays straight downhill. And a bad drive may lead to a “meltdown.” Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/19/2021

Sixteen, par-5, 618. Another dramatic downhiller named “Ski Hill,” which certainly suggests the thrill of playing it. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/19/2021

The 18th: par-4, 438. A fitting closer, but also a hole that captures the beauty of New England golf at its finest. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/19/2021

Despite drought
A bit of a drought has made course maintenance difficult, but the greens and fairways were in very good shape.
A hot deal on golfnow, this was well worth it! It's not Baltusrol or Winged Foot, but a great course that you can actually play......
What an amazing golf course
I lived nearby and had never played this course before. Typically play cheaper courses but decided to have a family outing there. It was a surreal experience. The course was in amazing condition, staff extremely friendly, really a class above most courses in western MA. I will be sure to be back. It is a little expensive for someone my age to attend frequently, but I will be back as soon as I can. The course made me carefully consider my club selection off the tee, as some carefully placed bunkers made me reconsider hitting driver.
Very nice course.
Had four hours to spare and was able to book a tee time for around noon for one. Pace was exceptional and staff was friendly and helpful. Course was in as good of condition as this year will permit. Been a dry year yet fairways and greens were still green and the ground was not incredibly hard. I would recommend this course.
Always Enjoyable
I really do enjoy this course. The whole experience is just wonderful.
You get to start off with 2 putting and chipping greens, and a free unlimited driving range (no mats). After you are warmed up you can get into the GPS cart and enjoy an unforgettable 18 holes. From the tee-boxes to the greens and everything in-between, they are all just in great condition. The course itself has so many memorable holes whether it is the 2 downhill holes (#9 and #16), short par 5 hole #1 or the short par 3 downhill over water. The course offers many risk/reward shots that really make you think about your next shot. The food at the bistro as well is fantastic, a great menu and a good selection of beer as well. My only gripe about playing the Ranch is the pace of play. I have never played a round there where i wasn't waiting to take every shot. I think a simple fix to this would be to allow players to go off on the Front and the Back Nine vs sending everyone off the front. Or perhaps get the ranger more involved and tell groups to start skipping holes if they are too slow, because i am now ending a round 25-30 minutes behind pace of play.
Great layout
Staff was friendly from the guy picking me & my bag up at my car to the starter. Played at 11:45 on a Saturday pace was fast finished round in 4:10 and we stopped to grab our food order & a few beers. Great conditions and a very fair test of golf
Thank for your 5 star review, Mark! We are so glad you enjoyed the conditions of our course. We hope to see you again soon!

Absolutely love this course it is a gem with great people and great play
So much fun!
This was a wonderful "find" for me! Thanks to Golf Now, I was able to find this extremely interesting, beautiful course. It has all the feel of a high end golf course, but seemed very playable. I am a single digit handicap and played my round from the blue tees. I feel I would have enjoyed many of the holes from the back tees as well. I particular liked the greens that rolled true. The layout was so fun and interesting. I can't wait to get back out there. I live 90 minutes away, and was thining I was crazy to drive that far to play golf, but it was well worht the drive and a real treat.
I did not take advantage of the driving range, but the putting/chipping area was nice.
The golf staff was extremely friendly. I did stop in to the clubhouse for a cold one and a burger after the round. I was not impressed with the burger (Stale bun). Im picky about golf and food!
Like I said, I have to get back to the Ranch very soon!
Fantastic course and a great value
For the $92 weekend green fee you get a tremendous value. Large all grass driving range with unlimited balls and fairway bunker, chipping green with bunker and large putting green. Great GPS carts, but the course is also walkable. The layout is fun and challenging and the turf conditions are some of the best I play. Bunkers do have some rocks. This is a must play and worth the drive.
Worth the 2 hour drive each way
We were only people on course due to inclement weather so pace of play was really fast. Beautiful course with an amazing layout. Lots of elevation changes. Really fun can't wait to go back.
Great round
Great course, tight, lots of fescue, and greens in great shape.
Challenging course from any tee.
Nice Tuesday
In great condition pace was awesome
Plush...
Only negative would be the sand traps. A lot of tiny stones that can cause damage to your irons.
Good course to play
The course condition is excellent even we had heavy rain in the morning.
Best Course in Western Mass.
It's always a treat to play this premium course, especially when the rates are discounted in the Spring and Fall. The uphill holes are particularly challenging and the downhill par 5s (#9 and 16) are a blast. My favorite hole is #17, however, a water carry par 3 with elevated tee boxes and sometimes tricky winds. Greens are mostly very large and roll true. And nature lovers will enjoy the beautiful scenery. It is worth an overnight trip to the greater Springfield/Hartford region.
Course
Played here before and always enjoyed it-- excellent condition for the time of year
beautiful views especially number 9 and 16
We always make at least 3 trips to The Ranch each year. Staff always polite and helpful. We come from about 90 miles away and is well worth the trip. One of my favorite courses. If I lived closer I would certainly be a member.
The Ranch a great place to play
Fine experience, great quality course! The course was in excellent condition, fast smooth greens, lush fairways. Nice staff!
Tom & Nick CT area
Great course , great condition , pace of play was great also.
Course has beautiful scenery, especially in the fall and very nice surrounding with many amazing houses.
The course is challenging but very playable for the average golfer
I guess you can tell I liked it.
Beautiful fall views
Got a great deal with Golf Now. The course is high quality with generally good conditions. It has a couple of holes that are "tricked up" in my opinion. The greens were not in the best shape. Many ball marks and very bumpy, even though every few holes the carts GPS says to fix ball marks.
A fun course to play.
The Ranch BEST AROUND
The Ranch by far is One of the best courses in the NorthEast. The fairways are in immaculate condition along with the greens. I highly recommend anyone to play this course. It is truly a pga course at an affordable price.
The fellow who wrote that review must be a "kid." I haven't worried about hitting driver off a tee in 15 years.
