Bargoed Golf Club

I don't want to tell too many people about this course, as it may get too busy! This was another excellent round as usual, with the course in remarkably good condition given the torrential rain over the past week or so. Never fails to deliver - wonderful course!

Ground was solid - which made for some interesting bounces, and huge carries - but course was still (as ever) in superb condition. Only one temporary green, and the others all in excellent condition, even if I was putting through ground frost on occasions. Testament to the club and the groundstaff that the course was even open, let alone playable, members were lovely and friendly as usual, and I thoroghly enjoyed my round here yet again. What a lovely course, long may I enjoy coming back here!

Excellent grounds and surroundings. Both rounds played have been under winter conditions and winter tees, with a couple of movements of hole sequence but very easy to follow.

Seriously considering a joint membership.

Great course! Even though I went in the heavy rain. Really good for those new to golf like myself, really wide fairways. Greens are holding up well for the weather we've been having. Highly suggest!

Booked a hot deal on Golfnow with mates, thoroughly enjoyed the course, good test of golf, course in great condition, greens slightly slow but no issue.

Liked the course on what was a very busy day. Ended up playing alone and as expected got held up a bit which I didn't mind because I didn't know the course at all. Staff were excellent on arrival, very welcoming. I will come back and hopefully better my score on a quieter day.

As I'm going to be moving to the Newport area soon exact location yet unknown and tried this course with the intention of finding a new home club.

Firstly what a friendly reception I had.

Secondly the fairways and green approaches are as good as I've played this year.

Unfortunately for me, but good for the members the greens have just undergone their winter maintenance so weren't at their best, however it was I can see why they are rated so highly.

Some very interesting holes and wonderful views.

The only negative comment I can make is a lack of pro shop.

This is definitely the strongest contender to be my new club next year .

Midday tee off on Saturday not to busy, nice course challenging greens and not to long and hilly would recommend when the sun is shining

Friendly staff and fellow golfers were also friendly. Great golf course condition and facilities and answered questions that I asked.

I am a member of cottrell park in cowbridge and recently played the Celtic Manor courses, The Vale Resort courses and Bryn Meadows. I can honestly say none of the above courses are in better condition than Bargoed. In fact Bryn meadows was very disappointing and never worth the ridiculous amount they ask for they’re very substandard greens. The only thing the other courses have over Bargoed are amenities. If we are only judging on golf course alone then Bargoed is up there with Celtic Manor and Cotterill park and that’s the biggest compliment I can give.

Always a pleasure to play here. Not a long course, but every hole is different, greens fantastic. Front 9 can play quite linksy in the summer months, with the back 9 more parkland. If you can find a hor deal then this is without doubt the best value for money 18 holes about.

Course is in such good condition, had another lovely round there - when of the hidden jewels of south Wales!

Super friendly staff and members, great layout course was in good condition and the greens were a pleasure.
