Aguila Golf Course
About
The Aquila Golf Course facility offers two golf courses; one is a championship length course while the other is a par-3, nine-hole course. The championship course provides an excellent game of golf for an affordable price. There are scenic views of mountains and downtown Phoenix as well as a challenging layout featuring several water hazards and bunkers. Although the terrain is rather hilly, it is still relatively walkable. The course has an excellent range of holes that each have a unique character, the par 5's are especially notable. Native grasses and wildflowers are also present on Aquila's Championship course, further adding to its natural beauty.

Golfer Reviews
Slow, below average condition
Don't be fooled by the ratings into thinking that this is something more than a cheap Muni full of hacks. The 8 minute tee time intervals are a killer. Took 2 hours 40 minutes to finish 9 holes at twilight.
The course isn't watered, with the exception of hole 9 and hole 18. The rough was all dead grass. You see it as you drive into the parking lot - the Par 3 course is yellow. Balls bounced high off the fairway and ran out. Fairways were overseeded and painted. The greens were not seeded enough, plenty of muddy spots - did not roll well as a result. Bunkers had plenty of sand.
Was pleasantly surprised to see a course at this price point have GPS in the carts. It also had an alert for pace of play - just had to laugh at how it was telling us we were 20 minutes behind pace on hole 5 while we were waiting for groups in front of us. No starter, no ranger, but the drink cart came around 3x.
There's great mountain views, some lengthy holes from the tips, a grass range (no free balls for players). The course is fairly easy - several holes where fairways run parallel to other fairways, so you don't have to be accurate off the tee. The hardest thing was trying to chip if your ball missed the green, because the ground was rock hard and there was limited dead grass.
It's in a really isolated part of town, the next closest golf course is a 20 minute drive. Apparently the corner of Dobbins and 35th is a place where people day camp - we saw 4 cars parked there, playing banda music and grilling.
Aguila
Fantastic golf course and fantastic practice facility. Totally jealous of this Muni. Wish it were back home. Very nice to walk, also. However, it sucks to stand so much because the pace of play was horrific. That said, I’ll be back in the spring.
great time
Excellent muni course with great amenities, great course design, neatly trimmed tee boxes, fairways and greens, well-paved cart-path, electric golf carts, and GPS. You can't go wrong.
My only complaint are the fairways. Low grass volume. I don't know if it's cut too short or need to apply more grass. The ball rested most of the time on ground. I liked hitting out of the rough better
Upgraded Elements but disappointing
They have new carts. Still no coolers on the carts, drink holders do not hold 30oz water bottles, VERY annoying GPS police built in .. have to back up on several occasions when not doing anything "illegal". NIce blue tooth speaker additions but no access codes provided. New displays show "minutes" behind pre-set 4-hour course. Ranger goes by this instead of who is ahead of you. Net-net, "modernisation" needs some work. Weds PM round and NO Cart lady to be seen. Restauant/bar closes before dark so no 19th hole hospitality. Disappointed in the City of Phoenix for these decisions.
Aguila
The course is so nice but the pace of play was horrible. The foursome ahead of the twosome ahead of us were terribly slow and didn’t play ready golf! We were able to finish only 16 holes and we started at 1:36 so should have been able to finish!
This is a great course gr8 value
Aguila is a pleasure to play & I very much like the layout I can certainly appreciate that local resident can play at a discounted rate with an Arizona card.very popular with locals
Enjoyably
Nice layout great condition good pace on a busy day TOP NOTCH one of my favorites
