About
The Aquila Golf Course facility offers two golf courses; one is a championship length course while the other is a par-3, nine-hole course. The championship course provides an excellent game of golf for an affordable price. There are scenic views of mountains and downtown Phoenix as well as a challenging layout featuring several water hazards and bunkers. Although the terrain is rather hilly, it is still relatively walkable. The course has an excellent range of holes that each have a unique character, the par 5's are especially notable. Native grasses and wildflowers are also present on Aquila's Championship course, further adding to its natural beauty.

Better pace of play
The course was starting the overseeding process but greens were good and overall the course firm and fast. I was pleased to get done in 4 hours but we were waved on by the group in front of us when one of their players became ill. Quickly our foursome caught the next group who had been slowing everyone down. I guess people think that Aguila being a municipal course is a pushover but please play from the correct tees, it’s harder than you think.

The course was in good condition as it has been every time I have played. My only complaint was the pace of play on this day, normally you can play in less four hours or less.

Pick the correct tee box and suck faster
Aguila was in great shape yesterday. They had an NCAA event going so it was as good as it gets in Arizona in early September. Greens held and were medium fast. The only thing that ruined the day was the group in front of us. 2/4 players were novices and should either have not been on the course or played from forward tees. They parked on top of green banks and right in front of greens and in other cart restricted zones. They never played behind anyone all day, only in front of our 3 some in 4:45 minutes at 9:36 on a Wednesday morning! I realize that with the event going on staff was busy and while that is true the paying public should expect at least one visit by a ranger over 4 hours.

Nice course
Fairways and greens are in good condition. They don’t provide coolers in the carts and their isn’t any cold water on the course.

Just because this place is really nice for the money and I don't want you all taking all the tee times! Seriously though, very pleasantly surprised on the amazing condition of this course in the middle of summer. The price is phenomenal even without a member card and the staff was great. Keep it up Aguila, but don't tell anyone! 😊

A Great City of Phoenix Course
Fairways well tended, could usually find my ball in the fringe. Greens running true to form, rolling well. Cups were not "volcano cut". Restroom looked completely renovated, food/beverage with good choices and reasonable prices. Beverage cart service was frequent. Pro shop personnel are helpful. Overall, a very pleasurable round.
