About
The Aquila Golf Course facility offers two golf courses; one is a championship length course while the other is a par-3, nine-hole course. The championship course provides an excellent game of golf for an affordable price. There are scenic views of mountains and downtown Phoenix as well as a challenging layout featuring several water hazards and bunkers. Although the terrain is rather hilly, it is still relatively walkable. The course has an excellent range of holes that each have a unique character, the par 5's are especially notable. Native grasses and wildflowers are also present on Aquila's Championship course, further adding to its natural beauty.

Great course design
For a muni, this course has a ton of interesting holes. Short, strategic par fours and long, demanding par fours in addition to some challenging par threes. Conditions were very good. Ball checked up and greens fairly fast. Plenty of room to spray it on most holes. We played gold tees due to recent surgery. Can’t wait to play from silver and possibly black tees. I will certainly go back although it is 45 minutes from my house.

Tough course. Slow pace.
Greens were hard and fast. You had better keep it in the fairway. If your not hitting your driver well. Leave it in the bag and play from forward tees. Lol. No jk. This course can play very long. Course handicap was 12 and I shot 12 strokes over that. I was a single paired with another single and double. They were good partners. Had white tops up our butt with nowhere to go. 4hr 45 min round.

Great value
We played on a Monday afternoon in about 4:15, so pace wasn't too bad. Course had some nice elevation changes and the greens were relatively quick. Played the walking rate of $49, so at that price will definitely come back.

Aguila
Tees and Fairways are nice but fairways were cut very tight and were quite fast. (Good runout). Greens were also cut crazy low and it didn't look like there was that much grass. These were more like summer conditions than the typical lusher conditions of winter. Very skinny track which is quite challenging and fun. Bunkers also had a decent amount of sand (not compact dirt) :)

Pace of play nightmare
Pace of play was absurdly slow. After four hours and forty-five minutes (in carts!) we only made it through 16 holes before it was dark. When we got back to the club house it was completely locked up (including bathrooms) and no staff was anywhere to be found.
Ideas for improvement: hire a ranger to enforce faster pace. Make cards that explain pace of play along with how to play faster and put them in all your carts. Do not completely shut down your entire operation while paying customers are still on the course.
We apologize for the pace of play issue you experienced. We always try to keep a great pace when having our golfers on the course. Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback as we will use your review to better the experience going forward. We hope you give us another try in the near future!
Great Value, but needs Rangers to Keep Pace
Greens are very fast without much break. Fairway hazards are occasionally in play. Many 300 yard drives and artificially low scores with rough being dead or in hybernation. Rangers are really needed to keep pace of play.
