Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club
About
Stretching over 320 acres in the southwest area, Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club (previously known as Royal Dunes) transforms mostly flat terrain into a challenging course that uses practically twice the amount of land a standard course. The course incorporates superb landscaping featuring towering mounds and hollow valleys for an interesting and scenic game. This desert golf course has wide fairways and generous landing areas. The dunes-style layout requires precision from tee to green. The difficulty of the golf course lies within the deep, strategically placed sand bunkers, multi-tiered greens, and native grass roughs. Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club provides adequate challenge for players of any skill level.

Golfer Reviews
Favorite course on planet earth!
There’s simply no better place to spend the day in the phoenix metro area. The layout is challenging. The greens roll true. Hands down my favorite course. Worth every penny!
Great day, young guys hit it so far
Had a great afternoon with some college boys from Denver area, who were prepping for the Desert Amateur being held this weekend. Played the blacks just so didn’t delay the boys. And to see what I could do. Though I’m long enough, was 50 yards back of the flexible kids. Got a chance to play lots of clubs I haven’t in a while, scored pretty similar to what I would have shot from the blues. Very challenging course one way or the other. Greens were a bit grainy versus last time we played, so speed definitely was a challenge to get correct. If you have never played here before, quite the treat, know your yardages to the bunkers, or you will be in all of them.
Dirt bunkers
A beautiful facility and immaculately maintained.
With the exception of the bunkers. First time playing, so unsure if I caught them at a bad time. But there are SO many bunkers throughout and they ALL seemed to lack sand. They were just like hitting off dirt back home in Texas.
Must play
They do a terrific job. Course was in excellent condition, the staff does a good job keeping things moving in a friendly way. Must play.
Gps/cart path only
GPS was not set for pins. When cart path only exists it adds confusion to yardages and club selection
One of the golf course in Arizona
Very nice course. Perfect conditions. Would return for sure.
The full experience of golf…
Hard to pinpoint the reason you should play here. The golf course - spectacular. The facilities are second to none. The service was something from a different era. We feel fortunate to have stumbled upon this gem on our vacation here. I’m just a guy who plays golf, but here I felt like a golfer.
Best golf coarse to play
This has to be the best coarse I have played in a long time. No wait time. The coarse is in unbelievable great shape. Thanks for a great round
Tim
