Quintero Golf Club
About
Located in the desert just north of Phoenix and Scottsdale, the golf course at Quintero Golf Club is a challenge but with up to as many as nine tees per hole, it can accommodate golfers of all different abilities and handicaps. The rolling, desert terrain of the course features dramatic elevation changes for interesting play. The golf course's design has wide fairways and plenty of water hazards and sand bunkers. The most difficult hole is the par-5 8th hole, which plays uphill with three large bunkers alongside the right side of the lay-up area. Another difficult but noteworthy hole is Quintero Golf Club's third, which has a scenic lake to the left that sometimes tricks golfers into playing close to it with their tee shot for an easier second shot to the green.

Best Greens in the Valley
You won’t find green that roll any more pure than at Quintero Golf Club.
A true gem
There’s a reason I always come back to Quintero when I’m visiting relatives in Phoenix. It’s simply a pure golf experience. I tend to prefer fast greens and Quintero always has them rolling quick and true.
From a design perspective, each holes is unique and carved through the canyons. The par 3’s are a strong suit and provided lots of elevation changes. For whatever reason there are 2 courses I don’t ever miss when visiting the area 1) Quintero and 2) Southern Dunes. They may be on opposites sides of town but they’re both can’t miss places to play.
Side note: pick the right tees as this course can be challenging!
The best course in Arizona
I love this golf course I played it for the first time probably five years ago. I look for specials all the time I would play this course more if it wasn’t so far from me and if it didn’t get so expensive in the winter. If you haven’t tried it please plan on making a trip out there you won’t regret it. Love love love this course!
Excellent
Fantastic Course with great conditions and amazing views. Don't skip this one on your next trip to Arizona!
one of a kind
for the value, the course is the best in the west valley. Well worth the time.
Challenging with fabulous views
This course is 50 min from Scottsdale, so it’s a good drive and an all day event. Outside service staff are not the friendliest people. Driving range was very crowded on the weekend. I found the course very challenging from the forward tees. Views were spectacular and worth the drive. I wish the clubhouse offered nice dining options as it wold be great to have a leisurely lunch after the round .
The course was perfect!!
I am from Seattle, wa. Every year/ couple times a year I come down to golf. We chose Quintero based off the reviews. The course did NOT disappoint! The price to play was awesome. There was no one behind us, and no one in front of us the whole time!! We ended playing 36 that Saturday. Everything from tee to green was in phenomenal shape. Me, my dad, uncle will for sure be back the next trip down! Thank you for a great experience with beautiful landscape, and views.
It’s Out There, But Worth It
This course consistently has those key elements that you just don’t get at other courses in the valley. This is a hard course with fast greens and well manicured fairways and tee boxes. If it weren’t for the threat of rattlesnakes (didn’t see any) I would walk this course barefoot.
This was the fourth time I have played Quintero, it was a treat and a beautiful day!
Rees Jones' Quintero: Bring your A Game
If you watch golf on TV, you've likely seen Quintero Golf Club before... through Wilson Golf commercials, Fox10, etc. Rees Jones (the youngest son of Robert Trent Jones Sr. and brother of RTJ II) design is one of the very best tracks in the Valley and it absolutely dictates that you pay attention and play within yourself, otherwise you are in for a very long day.
Built in 2000, the Founders Course was to be the centerpiece of a small, very private master-planned community. In fact, a second course was planned, as well, to be built (in 2004-2006) by Greg Norman as the Charter Course. You remember the 2006-2008 run up to the bubble burst and that affect upon Quintero was enormous. Lots of articles on-line will tell the story of what happened, to whom, why and what eventually transpired. Almost ALL of them mention a gentleman named Mr. Elliot Lewis. I met Mr. Lewis one afternoon while smoking a cigar and we talked for a couple of hours. He's visionary but is tempered by a sensible dose of realism. If you want to know WHY Quintero was saved and has flourished, he is THE primary reason. One last thing to keep in mind: The course has received superior accolades for many years. That is no small thing, as it reflects a constancy of effort to improve (Example: Troon was brought in to manage the facility a few years back) and is reflected by multiple experiences having played there, invariably followed by deep satisfaction.
Nuts and Bolts: The Website
Quintero's site is excellent: Plenty of content, easily navigable and it offers a combination of photographs of each hole along with spectacular drone flyovers. Many a course could learn from what Quintero has as a digital representation, as it is the first place a golfer is touched.
Course design: As always, the playability of the course is determined by an honest appraisal of your skills. Ego won't help. From all the way back (7249 yards) the slope is 148. At just under 6,900, the slope is still 143. Even at 6,437, the slope still comes in at 137. Quintero, again, is particularly attuned to their player(s). The scorecard offers combo routings along with their ratings and slope. The choices of tees directly impacts the difficulty of driving. For the most part, there is plenty of room to hit the tee ball.
Approach shots/greens: Rees has always impressed me as an adherent to his father's philosophy of open driving areas (still with some difficult fairway bunkering) followed by exacting approach shots, to greens well-defended by both bunkering and green undulation... and size. Such is the case at Quintero. The par fives are scorable, the par fours are tough and the three pars are the best collection of single-shotters in the state. As the course is routed, there is plenty of slope to take into account, both up and downhill. The green complexes are difficult but not impossible. The green speed, however, you will need to take into account, as well as where the primary slope is located. If you are not careful, you can misread a 30 footer and be left with more than you started with ;)
Quintero is actually in Peoria, just south of Lake Pleasant. The drive is almost ALWAYS mentioned by any reviewer. Here's the deal: I once drove 28 hours straight through to play Pinehurst #7 (interestingly, a Rees Jones design). If you consider tooling down the highway for an hour or two in an effort to tee it up at a spectacular ride a pain... then, by all means, DON"T tell us about it.
Diamond in the Desert
Went out this morning with a good friend. My first time here, reminds me a lot of the Rock at La Quinta. Staff is very friendly, facility is nice. Tee box and fairways are in great shape. Bunkers are very challenging as is the rough. The most disappointed part of the course are the greens. Very bad shape, and it's not the course's fault. It's all the lazy butts who lays up on the green and do not fix their ball marks! Course needs help here fellas! Not to hard to bend over, even with a beer in one had to repair a ball mark. Other then that it's an awesome place, very affordable during the summer. Can't wait to come back.
Best course I’ve ever played
This course is absolutely immaculate. From when you enter the course and make your drive up, to the driving range (beautiful) and then on to the first tee it’s amazing to take in.
The course is very challenging but some beautiful views from many par 3’s and even par 4’s. Great elevation changes, the fairways are as green and pure as ever, it’s really everything the photos look like.
I am headed back to the course exactly one year later, to play it yet again and know it will be worth every penny.
PLAY THIS COURSE. Greens roll fast. Be aware. And take lots of pics and truly take in your surroundings. Amazing. 10/10.
Can't wait to play again
As ski season is ending, I look forward to heading to Scottsdale & play my favourite course in the area. The staff are always smiling when I arrive & if you forgot something, the Pro Shop is well stocked. Get there early as it is a drive to the impeccable practise area. Put your ego in your pocket & pick the right tees that way you will enjoy your day but also keep up with pace of play. I have played over 45 different Public courses in the Phoenix area & this one has by far the best set of Par 3's ! As far as the rest of the course goes , you will get to use all your clubs in your bag. Now the bent grass greens .... Fast & tricky ... PLEASE repair at least 2 ball marks to keep them smooth. Finish your day off with a cold one. Trust me the drive is worth it!!
Best In AZ
We have a ton of golf courses to choose from in Phoenix. If you can make the drive, play this course. It is in my opinion by a large margin the nicest course. Lots of challenges, eleveation changes, and forced carries. The course is also in pristine condition year round.
Fantastic Course with Incredible Views
Playing Quintero is an experience like no other. From the moment you drive in to the facility, check your bags, and enter the Pro shop you realise this round of course will be memorable. Driving the 6 minutes to the first Tee puts the course and incredible topography in perspective. This course weaves in and out of spectacular, contemporary houses and beautiful elevated desert vistas. Each hole has its own personality. Playing this spectacular course makes you want to play it over and over again. Breath taking views and a truly memorable golfing experience. Looking forward to playing you again soon Quintero....very soon!
A jewel in the desert
Great experience. Friendly staff. Well maintain Fairways and greens.
Fantastic course, exceptional service
Quintero is a fantastic golfing destination. Close enough to the valley to feel like a local track, but far enough to feel like a special day trip. Breathtaking views, challenging but fair layout, tip top conditions year round, and exceptional service from the staff make Quintero a premier course to play. Worth every penny in season, and summer rates make Quintero a steal. Highly recommend this course to any golfer. Great job, Quintero!
The Peaceful Quiet
This course is amazing! So peaceful and quiet. Totally secluded with just the sounds of nature. Beautiful scenery and awesome course condition. Course was very challenging for me but a fantastic experience.
Perfect Day
Beautiful Course and extremely well kept. Very nice staff and beautiful practice facility. Everything breaks southwest. Greens rolled perfectly.
Great Track
Although the course is a bit of a drive compared to most if you are staying in Scottsdale it is worth the trip.
It is a must play if you are going to be in the area. More challenging and hillier than most you will use every club in the bag
