Course Highlights
Quintero's dramatic elevation changes and uniquely designed holes make it one of Arizona's most celebrated layouts. Welcoming staff and well-maintained conditions consistently reward golfers who make the scenic drive out.

About

Par 72
Length 7249 yards

Rating 75.3

Located in the desert just north of Phoenix and Scottsdale, the golf course at Quintero Golf Club is a challenge but with up to as many as nine tees per hole, it can accommodate golfers of all different abilities and handicaps. The rolling, desert terrain of the course features dramatic elevation changes for interesting play. The golf course's design has wide fairways and plenty of water hazards and sand bunkers. The most difficult hole is the par-5 8th hole, which plays uphill with three large bunkers alongside the right side of the lay-up area. Another difficult but noteworthy hole is Quintero Golf Club's third, which has a scenic lake to the left that sometimes tricks golfers into playing close to it with their tee shot for an easier second shot to the green.

Long drive but check it out at least once.

Long drive from Phoenix. 6 - 8 degrees colder there than in the valley. Out in the middle of nowhere but worth the drive at least once. Great condition but greens too fast for my liking.

Thank you for coming to play Quintero. We are so glad you chose to spend some time with us! The greens are quick, but don't you think pure, fast greens are better than slow? When will you be back?

Magnificent

This place is amazing. Conditions were immaculate. Probably the best and most memorable course I've played here in Arizona, and I've played quite a few courses (Grey Hawk, Starfire, Kierland, Talking Stick, Troon North, Boulders, Ocotillo). It does have some quirks though: 10 minute cart ride from the pro shop to the practice area and first tee, then all the way back after the 18th hole. Also, the day I played it was cart path only, so pace of play was a little slow, but with the scenery being so amazing I didn't mind. Every hole is picture worthy, and the par 3's are spectacular. This place is well worth the effort to get there, and with it being in the middle of nowhere just adds to its beauty. I can't wait to come back on my next trip down.

Visiting Phoenis - This is the course to play!

Annually, I come to Phoenix and always look forward to playing here. From the time you drop your clubs until they get loaded back into your car, you're treated like family.

The course was in great condition. The greens are as fast as I've ever played. I can't remember taking so many 3 putt greens in a round. They had the tees up a bit from the last time I played but this course gave me everything I could handle.

The views from each tee are spectacular. The driving range is as good as I've experienced.

This is a must play if you're in Phoenix. You will not be disappointed!

Great Course...Extremely Slow

I have played Quintero a number of times in the last three years and this was my worst experience to date. I usually love the course but the pace of play on Sunday ruined the entire experience. Five hours and ten minutes for the round and there was literally a backup on every tee box besides one.

Great scenery

Another upscale golf neighborhood gone belly up. The area is fabulous, yes it is a hike but you know that when you sign up. Canyon breezes can be cool in the mornings. Plan extra time before hand, the ride to the range/first tee from the temporary pro shop is a long slow one. Bunkers are the down fall here. No sand, very hard. No 19th hole to speak of. You are here for the golf so enjoy it.

Calgary Golfer

Drove from Scottsdale about 50 mins. Course is in No Man's Land. Nothing around it. Had to drive on a 2 lane highway which is frustrating and slow to drive. No highway signs to indicate where course is.

Once arrived, service is good. No formal clubhouse, but temporary structure.

Electric carts slow and basic GPS system for the high green fees. Free bottled water in cart. Club and ball washer on cart. Buy the Yardage book to give you better idea how holes go.

Once set up, it take 5mins to drive in a slow cart uphill to get to #1 tee and driving range. Way too long a cart ride.

Driving range has beautiful view. Practice greens are too sloped to gauge speed.

Played from 7200 yds. Tee boxes, fairways are good. Bunkers inconsistent with levels of sand. Lots of elevation change. Many holes shooting straight uphill. Greens were fast, slopy, and too many ballmarks unrepaired.

Most of holes are very artistically built and designer had great vision. It is beautiful to the eye from every angle and tee box.

Enjoyed the course, but due to the elevation changes, not my type of course. You have to play it at least once.

Then irratating slow cart ride back to return area. Then slow drive on a busy 2 land highway back to Scottsdale.

Due to the drive, traffic, slow golf carts...once is enough for me. But it is a beautiful course to the eye. Would rather play Papago, Camelback Ambiente, Boulders instead.

Thank you for coming to play Quintero. We are so glad you chose to spend some time with us! I played Ambiente recently. It is great, but Quintero puts down much more seed for the overseed. You cannot compare the fairways between the two. Give Quintero another shot when you return to AZ.

Quintero

From the moment you pull in the staff took great care of me. They made the experience much better. The actual course was amazing. Perfect conditions and a great layout. I was a single and they paired me with a member who really helped me with tips about each hole even though everything is pretty straight foward. I drove 1 hour and 40 minutes from Queen Creek to play here and would do it again in a heartbeat. Enjoy the views and stay out of the desert. I saw a 6 foot rattlesnake so don't wander off the grass.

Great scenery but VERY tough

The course is very easy on the eyes but a players nightmare. I would recommend everyone to play this once, it's beautiful. That being said when we were there the greens were rolling about a 12 and were breaking like crazy. There are many elevation changes, bunkers in play (which were rocky and inconsistent) and uneven lyes. For your enjoyment and the enjoyment of others choose your tees modestly. . And go prepared...practice and take few balls. 10 + handicap would be frustrated by the end of the round. All said play it once and take it from there based on your abilities and level of patientance. . It's pricy for what you'll get out of it overall.

Big Improvements in 2 years

I last played here nearly 2 years ago. My complaint to the clubhouse then was there were no hole maps, yardage books, or GPS. You just didn't know where you were going on some holes. Now there are cart-included green GPS yardage for front, middle, and back. There are yardage books for $5 in the clubhouse. They got the message.

Great course! A long drive from anywhere, but well worth it for the $84 special I got.

Worth the drive

It's a long drive from most anywhere in the Phoenix area, but it is nice to be in the middle of nowhere once you get there. There are some great elevation changes that provide an awesome vantage point in 360 degrees.

The condition and course layout were great. The greens seemed to have very little grass on them...not sure how to describe it, however, they did roll true.

Pretty pricey, but we got a deal on golfnow for $99 or $109, which is completely worth it.

Fabulous Course!

After a playing several rounds of "target golf" on AZ desert courses, Quintero was a terrific surprise. Generous fairways and spacious greens are surrounded by some stunning desert vistas. I can't wait to play this gem again! Course conditions were near perfect, staff were very friendly and helpful.
Drive the few extra miles, this course will not disappoint.

Quintero Is A Gem in the AZ Desert

My 6th time to this course and I fall more in love with it every time I play it. It is scenic, immaculately conditioned and sufficiently challenging. There are two dramatic downhill par 3 holes that rival any around. The course has great character but allows for opportunities to score if you manage it well. I have played most in the Phoenix area and this is without question in my Top 3 golf experiences. Its a long way to drive (40 min from downtown), but well worth it.

Nothing quite like it in the West Valley

It takes a bit of effort to get all the way out to Quintero, located in the Valley of the Sun's extreme northwest side. But the mileage trekked delivers a total 180-degree turn in scenery; there's just nothing quite like it anywhere else closer to the heart of Phoenix-Scottsdale. The course winds through lush, unusually green mountain sides, and most green sites sit below peaks and there is almost always a stunning mountain backdrop.

There are quite a few elevated tee shots here too, including three of the four par 3s (my favorite of which being the 16th). Being build in the 2000s by Rees Jones, there is a fair bit more of turf to land your ball on in the fairway compared to some of the more target-style desert courses in the area and the course has been overseeded wall-to-wall for the peak season.

It's remoteness is accentuated by the fact there is not much development out here. In fact, to get from the temporary clubhouse to the first tee, you have to drive along neighborhood roads for a few minutes. I wonder if, 20 years from now, this will be a course with a larger real estate (for now, there are just a handful of visible houses, though a few of them are vacation rentals golf groups can rent out).

Quintero most certainly stacks up as one of the Valley's most scenic courses, though some architecture buffs may balk at some of the extreme par 3 tee shots. But for a destination play for those not native to the Sonoran Desert, it's a fantastic experience.

Beautiful course in the middle of the Desert

Very well manicured course in the middle of the desert with very challenging greens. The course is very unforgiving with thick desert just outside of the rough. Although challenging, the beauty of the course is well worth the money and the 45 minute drive from Scottsdale .

Great ride in a high desert miracle

Magnificent conditions & friendly staff-very helpful-well maintained w/greens that defied pace & line-need local help. Sand not uniform from bunker to bunker & there were many of them. Depth perception required- given elevation changes (looks like a 7--iron but PW was the right club. Grass so green & soft did not seem real! WOW! Not for a 20 handicap.

Very Nice

We stayed in Scottsdale near Tempe so, this was an hour drive. But it was worth it. A desert course with minimal housing (at least for now). Beautiful views. Challenging but there is some room to spray it around for guys like me.

The course was in great shape. The only caveat would be the greens. They seem to like them lightning fast. That's fine, but the greens were pretty beat up. It could have been the time of year

The price ($130) is a little much for playing too often but compared to the $200+ courses in the area, it's somewhat a bargain.

I highly recommend.
