Quintero Golf Club
About
Located in the desert just north of Phoenix and Scottsdale, the golf course at Quintero Golf Club is a challenge but with up to as many as nine tees per hole, it can accommodate golfers of all different abilities and handicaps. The rolling, desert terrain of the course features dramatic elevation changes for interesting play. The golf course's design has wide fairways and plenty of water hazards and sand bunkers. The most difficult hole is the par-5 8th hole, which plays uphill with three large bunkers alongside the right side of the lay-up area. Another difficult but noteworthy hole is Quintero Golf Club's third, which has a scenic lake to the left that sometimes tricks golfers into playing close to it with their tee shot for an easier second shot to the green.

Big Improvements in 2 years
I last played here nearly 2 years ago. My complaint to the clubhouse then was there were no hole maps, yardage books, or GPS. You just didn't know where you were going on some holes. Now there are cart-included green GPS yardage for front, middle, and back. There are yardage books for $5 in the clubhouse. They got the message.
Great course! A long drive from anywhere, but well worth it for the $84 special I got.
Worth the drive
It's a long drive from most anywhere in the Phoenix area, but it is nice to be in the middle of nowhere once you get there. There are some great elevation changes that provide an awesome vantage point in 360 degrees.
The condition and course layout were great. The greens seemed to have very little grass on them...not sure how to describe it, however, they did roll true.
Pretty pricey, but we got a deal on golfnow for $99 or $109, which is completely worth it.
Thank you for coming to play Quintero. We are so glad you chose to spend some time with us! Quintero has bent grass greens, so they go a little dormant in the cold of January. Isn't it great they roll so true? When will you be back?
Fabulous Course!
After a playing several rounds of "target golf" on AZ desert courses, Quintero was a terrific surprise. Generous fairways and spacious greens are surrounded by some stunning desert vistas. I can't wait to play this gem again! Course conditions were near perfect, staff were very friendly and helpful.
Drive the few extra miles, this course will not disappoint.
Thank you for coming to play Quintero. We are so glad you chose to spend some time with us! When will you be back?
Peaceful and quiet!
Worth the trip, scenic drive to get there. Excellent practice facilities.
Thank you for coming to play Quintero. We are so glad you chose to spend some time with us! When will you be back?
Truly Best Course In Valley
I love love love this course every hole is different huge elevation changes pace of play is good and always in immaculate condition. Played all the best in the valley this is truly the best I have played and continue to play when times are cheaper. This is a true hidden gem if you have the chance or any chance to play take advantage of this course its not only tough but truly amazing. This is the course I compare all to in the valley.
Quintero Is A Gem in the AZ Desert
My 6th time to this course and I fall more in love with it every time I play it. It is scenic, immaculately conditioned and sufficiently challenging. There are two dramatic downhill par 3 holes that rival any around. The course has great character but allows for opportunities to score if you manage it well. I have played most in the Phoenix area and this is without question in my Top 3 golf experiences. Its a long way to drive (40 min from downtown), but well worth it.
Thank you for coming to play Quintero. We are so glad you chose to spend some time with us! When will you be back?
Nothing quite like it in the West Valley
It takes a bit of effort to get all the way out to Quintero, located in the Valley of the Sun's extreme northwest side. But the mileage trekked delivers a total 180-degree turn in scenery; there's just nothing quite like it anywhere else closer to the heart of Phoenix-Scottsdale. The course winds through lush, unusually green mountain sides, and most green sites sit below peaks and there is almost always a stunning mountain backdrop.
There are quite a few elevated tee shots here too, including three of the four par 3s (my favorite of which being the 16th). Being build in the 2000s by Rees Jones, there is a fair bit more of turf to land your ball on in the fairway compared to some of the more target-style desert courses in the area and the course has been overseeded wall-to-wall for the peak season.
It's remoteness is accentuated by the fact there is not much development out here. In fact, to get from the temporary clubhouse to the first tee, you have to drive along neighborhood roads for a few minutes. I wonder if, 20 years from now, this will be a course with a larger real estate (for now, there are just a handful of visible houses, though a few of them are vacation rentals golf groups can rent out).
Quintero most certainly stacks up as one of the Valley's most scenic courses, though some architecture buffs may balk at some of the extreme par 3 tee shots. But for a destination play for those not native to the Sonoran Desert, it's a fantastic experience.
Thank you for coming out to enjoy a round of golf at Quintero. When will you be back? The golf course is in fabulous shape.
Beautiful course in the middle of the Desert
Very well manicured course in the middle of the desert with very challenging greens. The course is very unforgiving with thick desert just outside of the rough. Although challenging, the beauty of the course is well worth the money and the 45 minute drive from Scottsdale .
Thank you for coming to play Quintero. We are so glad you chose to spend some time with us! When will you be back?
Great ride in a high desert miracle
Magnificent conditions & friendly staff-very helpful-well maintained w/greens that defied pace & line-need local help. Sand not uniform from bunker to bunker & there were many of them. Depth perception required- given elevation changes (looks like a 7--iron but PW was the right club. Grass so green & soft did not seem real! WOW! Not for a 20 handicap.
Thank you for coming to enjoy a round of golf at Quintero. We are working on a bunker renovation as we speak. When will you be back?
Very Nice
We stayed in Scottsdale near Tempe so, this was an hour drive. But it was worth it. A desert course with minimal housing (at least for now). Beautiful views. Challenging but there is some room to spray it around for guys like me.
The course was in great shape. The only caveat would be the greens. They seem to like them lightning fast. That's fine, but the greens were pretty beat up. It could have been the time of year
The price ($130) is a little much for playing too often but compared to the $200+ courses in the area, it's somewhat a bargain.
I highly recommend.
Thank you for coming out to enjoy a round of golf at Quintero. When will you be back? The golf course is in fabulous shape. The greens always show a little wear in the winter. They are bent grass, and go a little dormant.
Beautiful course but...
Our first experience there as a Troon Card holder. Tried to use 2 for1 pass but told had to book online (unlike Troon courses). Explained didn't realize this and told staff we would only be there once. Still no. They went on to explain that they were really a "Troon hybrid" course but couldn't explain why??? When we later looked at website found that 2 for 1's didn't start until about 2 in the afternoon when you would have absolutely no hope of completing round in light. Thanks!! Staff generally unfriendly other than the starter who was excellent.
only 6 days of rain a year in phoenix but we were there
it is a difficult golf to play but we can be sure to have a challenge on each hole!
Thank you for coming out to enjoy a round of golf at Quintero. So sorry you had rain! When will you be back? The golf course is in fabulous shape.
No Starter after 2pm - BEWARE of a 5hr round!
Quintero is a great course. However, the pace of play and staff leave much to be desired. Of the four or five times I've played there, I have never been able to finish 18 holes. Pace of play is between 5 and 5.5 hours if you don't tee off in the morning. The course admitted that they do not employ a starter after 2pm! Great course, but its tough to spend 7 hours driving out there and struggling to get through a round. We've left comments with the pro shop but they have not returned our calls. Suggest playing WeKoPa instead!
Pace of play ridiculously slow. Bunkers a bad joke
Very pretty course. Well designed. Par 3's a bit gimmicky (huge elevation change) but ok. Overall well designed but oh man, was it slow. I HATE courses that jam out as many as they can for more $$. We were 12:20. There was a group at 12:24. Ridiculous , especially on a challenging course. Took 5:15 to play.
Now the sand. How a high end course like this has bunkers like that boggles the mind. The kind of sand they have is GREAT , if theres enough of it. Problem is, at the bottom of the bunkers, theres basically none so unless you are some sort of a champ (Im not, Im a 5) your sandwedge/wedge just bounces out and the ball goes skittering across the green (I dont have that shot anywhere in my repertoire. And I wasnt unique in our group). And to make it doubly worse, the bunkers are pretty deep and designed poorly so that at best you have a very flat lie at the bottom of the bunker, but often downhill. And theres lots of greenside bunkers. As an aside, I spoke afterwards to the club cleaner guy & he said "yeah, we get alot of those "observations".
Saw beer cart once.
Staff was ok, but got the impression they thought they were at Augusta & we should feel fortunate we got to play their track.
Practice facilities were nice.
10 minute cart ride to 1st tee/practice tee. Big deal. Thats irrelevant.
At the end of day, I wouldn't play here again, especially with chopper friends.Too slow, and with choppers, it could be a real torture test.
And its an hour + from North Scottsdale (on a weekend).
Quintero
We all enjoyed but did miss beer cart. . I would and have recommended . I am a 10 handicap and shot 90 .
Thank you for coming out to enjoy a round of golf at Quintero. When will you be back? The golf course is in fabulous shape. We promise there will be a beer cart!
Not Worth The Drive
Out in the middle of no where... Nothing around just a bad location and staff to match. Never seen a beverage cart until you hit the back 9. The greens are a joke along with the tee boxes.. The only thing they have going it's beautiful around there. The golf carts are as slow as can be. Takes almost 10 min. to get to the 1st. tee. They are still working out of a tent and trailer this course I feel does not have much life left. Beautiful design just in the wrong location...If you tee off at noon do not think about having a drink they are to busy closing and pushing you out the gate.
True Desert Mountain Golf
This just became my favorite course in the "area". Lighting fast, true greens that held your approach shots. Entire course was in excellent condition. True desert golf with many elevation changes. Challenging but fair. Peaceful, beautiful, and quiet (almost eerie quiet.) I used quotations around "area" above as it is in the middle of nowhere and takes an hour from Sky Harbor - but well worth the drive imo. Will definitely play again.
Thank you for coming out to enjoy a round of golf at Quintero. When will you be back? The golf course is in fabulous shape.
Tough course but beautiful views
Course is challenging tight fairways sand and water. Views are incredible and u still can post. A good score
Thank you for coming out to enjoy a round of golf at Quintero. When will you be back? The golf course is in fabulous shape. We can promise more sun than in ILLINOIS
Best in AZ
A little out of the way but well worth it. This is the nicest public golf course that I have played in Arizona. The elevation changes and the views are incredible. I only hope it stays public.
Thank you for coming out to enjoy a round of golf at Quintero. When will you be back? The golf course is in fabulous shape.
A Must Play Course if in Phoenix
I've played a lot of terrific golf courses like Pinehurst #2, Torrey Pines Quail Hollow and Quintero is as good as it gets. The course is as well manicured and in as good a condition as you will find. The greens are fast but receptive to shots. You getter bring your A game when playing this course as there are plenty of challenges on every shot. The views are spectacular as well. Outstanding practice and warm up area. Hospitality was exceptional. It is well worth the drive from Phoenix to play this one.
Thank you for coming out to enjoy a round of golf at Quintero. When will you be back? The golf course is in fabulous shape.
