MountainView Country Club
About
MountainView Golf Club at Saddlebrooke sits at an elevation of 3,200 feet, offering both dramatic elevation changes and spectacular views. The course sits at the base of the Catalina Mountain range near Tucson, nestled into the mesquite-covered foothills. Gary Panks, the golf course's designer, saw the potential of the landscape and utilized the many natural hazards. He also incorporated subtle mounding and strategically placed bunkers that blend seamlessly into the natural terrain. Panks created a fair challenge with this layout but the wide, player-friendly landing areas makes the golf course approachable for beginners. The second hole is one of the most scenic holes on the course but it is also one of the layout's more difficult holes. Golfers will find a mesquite-filled wash crossing the fairway before facing an uphill shot to a green guarded by trees and bunkers.

Great views
Challenging course with very good views.
Really Bad Greens
My wife and I have played this course MANY times. We have usually enjoyed it but not since the greens have been replaced (last summer). The greens are mini verde bermuda and do NOT get oversseded in the winter. In other words, they are completely DORMANT in the winter and Spring and do not grow. The course paints them green occasionally to make it look better. The greens also have another old grass type coming up which makes it look like weeds are popping up.
Don't waste your money until summer unless you really like putting on linoleum!!
Great Oro Valley Course
First time playing this course. Great for a wide range of handicaps.
I hate this course
If this wasn't so close to my home, I'd never play it. The dead Bermuda greens are untrue and like concrete. The fairways, and especially the aprons, are over watered as are the unraked sand traps..The result is that landing a few feet short of the green leaves you still short of the green because of wet turf. If you land on the green, it doesn't hold, and you wind up off the green or with a long downhill putt on the concrete.
Lastly, many pins are set just 4 paces from the edge of the green. Very cute. They're trying very hard to make a relatively easy course unfairly difficult. Ugh!
Mountian View Golf Course Review
We enjoyed the course very much but felt the experience would be more enjoyable if the amenities included a small snack bar at the turn where a hot dog or other similar sustenance could be obtained., we also would like to see bag boys who could clean clubs after our round.
Rude course ranger hurt the experience.
Mountain View is a very nice, scenic resort type course with good sand, nicely over-seeded fairways and tees. The Greens were a little firm but true.
We were a foursome of 3 men and 1 lady (12 to 20 HCP) and played in under 4 hours. A twosome teed off in front of us and we never saw them after the second hole. A rather unfriendly ranger (not even a "Hi") approached us on the 8th hole just to tell us that there were almost 2 holes open in front of us and we should pick up the pace. We possibly could have played a little quicker but we had just teed off 1hr,40min earlier on an under 2 hour turn pace and were almost 2 holes ahead of the group behind us.
There are courses of equal or better value available with friendlier staff.
Great course for getting out of Tucson
This course is within a 'Retirement Community' which is nice to get away from Tucson's resort and Municipal courses. Since it cater mostly to retirees, it is a little more tame in it layout and ease of play. The pace of play was slow only due to the fact that for 28 February, the weather was a beautiful 85 degrees. The score wasn't great but the golf and weather and company were very pleasant.
I'm going back!
Everything was as it should be on a golf course....Pace of play, condition of course, staff, views, were all good.
Overall course
Course not bad shape staff I have to say are the most rudest people I have ever dealt with I have played another saddlebrook course same thing no more saddlebrook for me
Beautiful layout
Greens have all be redone and are progressing nicely. Added challenges .
Average
This course was closed this summer to work upgrading the greens and over seed the fairways. The greens had small weeds in them and the fringe on several greens were bare or weeded. One of the traps looked like the grounds guy left in the middle of racking it and left a large mound of sand in the middle and forgot to come back and smooth it out. All of the fairways had brown areas mixed in with the green grass. Pretty poor conditions!
Dead Painted Greens
I have played this course many times, but not in the winter. I was extremely disappointed to see that the greens were dead grass and painted green. Because of this, they were very fast with some unfair pin positions due to the concrete like surface.
Will not play here again until summer.
Slippery Greens
The greens were re-done Summer 2015. The course doesn't re-seed the greens for winter play. The greens have are extremely fast, almost impossibly fast. Three or more putts on each green were the norm for our two foursomes. One foursome stopped keeping score because of the putting.
Fun to play
Interesting, scenic and fair layout. Fast greens. Some severely contoured greens require careful positioning.
nice course with a few good challenges
The greens were redone and in good shape but need some warm weather. fairways are good except for some winter kill on 15. very scenic course and good value. Great putting, driving and chipping areas
Don't like the greens
Very good layout but I didn't like the greens. They were an unattractive off-color blue-green, too fast, and didn't hold a good shot.
Pleasant Afternoon
Nice course with some great views of the mountains. Greens were not great and the pace was slow but the scenery made it a very nice puting.
mountain view 1-17-2016
It's been about 6 years since I've played this course. Usually they charge more than I can pay. I happen to get a deal on golf now. I expected this course to be in better shape although it was in good shape. The greens were slower than expected. The fairways were not as full and tight as I expected. The sand traps sand was really nice, even though I didn't want to be in there. Overall I would love to play again this week if I can find another deal for my friends and me. My 9 yr old son also likes to play golf with my friends and myself so I would think it would be a great benefit to give teens a good discount so we can afford to let him play more often. Several courses do allow teens to play with a discount. These are are future golfers. The more they get to play, the better they get and the more they want to play.
Slow Play...
Pace of play was very slow. Didn't see a single marshall out speeding up some of the slow players. Took five hours to play 17 holes after skipping two slow foursomes on hole 12.
Course is moderately challenging with lots of desert, so lost some golf balls. However, course was well maintained and had beautiful views.
Good course
Greens were very fast but true. Lots of nice views and a good price
