About
MountainView Golf Club at Saddlebrooke sits at an elevation of 3,200 feet, offering both dramatic elevation changes and spectacular views. The course sits at the base of the Catalina Mountain range near Tucson, nestled into the mesquite-covered foothills. Gary Panks, the golf course's designer, saw the potential of the landscape and utilized the many natural hazards. He also incorporated subtle mounding and strategically placed bunkers that blend seamlessly into the natural terrain. Panks created a fair challenge with this layout but the wide, player-friendly landing areas makes the golf course approachable for beginners. The second hole is one of the most scenic holes on the course but it is also one of the layout's more difficult holes. Golfers will find a mesquite-filled wash crossing the fairway before facing an uphill shot to a green guarded by trees and bunkers.

This course was closed this summer to work upgrading the greens and over seed the fairways. The greens had small weeds in them and the fringe on several greens were bare or weeded. One of the traps looked like the grounds guy left in the middle of racking it and left a large mound of sand in the middle and forgot to come back and smooth it out. All of the fairways had brown areas mixed in with the green grass. Pretty poor conditions!
Dead Painted Greens
I have played this course many times, but not in the winter. I was extremely disappointed to see that the greens were dead grass and painted green. Because of this, they were very fast with some unfair pin positions due to the concrete like surface.
Will not play here again until summer.
Slippery Greens
The greens were re-done Summer 2015. The course doesn't re-seed the greens for winter play. The greens have are extremely fast, almost impossibly fast. Three or more putts on each green were the norm for our two foursomes. One foursome stopped keeping score because of the putting.
nice course with a few good challenges
The greens were redone and in good shape but need some warm weather. fairways are good except for some winter kill on 15. very scenic course and good value. Great putting, driving and chipping areas
Don't like the greens
Very good layout but I didn't like the greens. They were an unattractive off-color blue-green, too fast, and didn't hold a good shot.
Pleasant Afternoon
Nice course with some great views of the mountains. Greens were not great and the pace was slow but the scenery made it a very nice puting.
mountain view 1-17-2016
It's been about 6 years since I've played this course. Usually they charge more than I can pay. I happen to get a deal on golf now. I expected this course to be in better shape although it was in good shape. The greens were slower than expected. The fairways were not as full and tight as I expected. The sand traps sand was really nice, even though I didn't want to be in there. Overall I would love to play again this week if I can find another deal for my friends and me. My 9 yr old son also likes to play golf with my friends and myself so I would think it would be a great benefit to give teens a good discount so we can afford to let him play more often. Several courses do allow teens to play with a discount. These are are future golfers. The more they get to play, the better they get and the more they want to play.
Slow Play...
Pace of play was very slow. Didn't see a single marshall out speeding up some of the slow players. Took five hours to play 17 holes after skipping two slow foursomes on hole 12.
Course is moderately challenging with lots of desert, so lost some golf balls. However, course was well maintained and had beautiful views.
Good course
Greens were very fast but true. Lots of nice views and a good price
Little to no course maintenance
The course is very poorly maintained. The bunkers had not been worked for quite some time and all were full of animal tracks. Most of the cups on the greens had so much sand in them that you couldn't put the flag in so that it stood upright. A couple of months ago the course was in good shape. Now it is not worth playing.
Breathtaking views
Mountainview is a beautiful course. It's fun to play and offers panoramic views of Southern Arizona desert. We will play it again every chance we get.
Great Place
Very enjoyable, pace of play was outstanding and the course was in great shape. Will play again.
Enjoyed our day!
We definitely enjoyed the course and our day. The front desk staff person was not friendly.
One of my favorites
you won't be disapointed with this course and the views are wonderful!
Beatiful course around the mountains
Had a great time, course was in good shape, greens a little hard. Played with three great guys, which would make any course seem fun to play.
Thanks Jerry
