MountainView Country Club
About
MountainView Golf Club at Saddlebrooke sits at an elevation of 3,200 feet, offering both dramatic elevation changes and spectacular views. The course sits at the base of the Catalina Mountain range near Tucson, nestled into the mesquite-covered foothills. Gary Panks, the golf course's designer, saw the potential of the landscape and utilized the many natural hazards. He also incorporated subtle mounding and strategically placed bunkers that blend seamlessly into the natural terrain. Panks created a fair challenge with this layout but the wide, player-friendly landing areas makes the golf course approachable for beginners. The second hole is one of the most scenic holes on the course but it is also one of the layout's more difficult holes. Golfers will find a mesquite-filled wash crossing the fairway before facing an uphill shot to a green guarded by trees and bunkers.

enjoyable round modest cost
On time tee-of course in good winter condition, fast play (lousy weather, few players), cordial staff
Good Layout, Pick You Tees and Play to Your Game
Well layout course with no two holes the same. Great views of the Catalina Mountains
Nice course for all levels
Pace of play ok. Greens a bit slow but playable. Challenging for all level of players with multiple tees.
Staff rude.
When we checked in, the personnel behind the counter was rude, told us to go to the tee immediately, and when we got there we had to wait for the group on the tee anyway. Then there were no score cards on the carts, none at the tee box, so one went back to the pro shop and the personnel said aren't you with the (name) group? You're suppose to be on the tee. We started on 10, and behind the green the cart path split and there were no signs to say which way to go.
This person also gave us wrong directions to the club. If you go, take the second right of Saddlebrooke Ranch Road.
Depends on the season
The course conditions seems to depend a lot on the season. Playing in early November, the greens were far from pristine. Bumpy and slow would be more precise. Pace was slow when we played, probably due to the annoying (but indeed necessary) cart path only rule. Design is very nice and the course lends itself to a nice time.
over seed complete and good shape
The course had been over seeded and well maintained. Cart path only.
cart path only, but nice to get back out on the links
In Arizona, most courses shut off the water, dry out the bermuda, then reseed and water. This course is a few weeks away from riding but in nice shape. Greens for some reason are slow and walking can tire you out, but nice course and beautiful weather.
Some interesting holes and lots of deer.
Mountain View is a fun course to play. The fairways are in excellent condition and ready for the upcoming high season. The greens are slow and a little bumpy right now but should continue to improve each week reaching their optimum condition sometime in December.
Getting ready to overseed
The course was a little dry, but well maintained. I liked the play.
great veiws
nice course had a blast super fun great staff friendly
terrible condition--3 greens and 1 entire hole closed as well
course is poorly maintained--greens putt like blacktop
traps are almost as hard as blacktop--and when you see the "sand" they are adding to the traps you see why they are had--more like sort of fine dirt but not sand and it has small rocks in it well---3 greens were temp greens and 1 hole was closed--no warning on the website--sections of some fairways were essentially grassless---only one water stop on each nine---cheap-cheap-cheap
Greens need attention
11:45 tee time using Golfnow, so we got a good value. Had we paid more, I would have been less pleased because the greens were very difficult to putt. They were not cut and were terribly slow. Most of the greens held OK, but forget about making a birdie or par saving putt. It is not going to happen. Otherwise, the tee boxes and most of the fairways were in pretty good shape. Playing around noontime, the pace of play was quite good.
Great course!!!
My buddy and I recently played Mountain View and had a great time. The course was surrounded by wildlife and it was in good shape.
Course needs work.
Lots of bare dirt patches in most fairways and at least half the greens. Bunkers were awful. Full of water rivulets, animal tracks, hard and compacted sand.
Mountainview @ SaddleBrooke is Bad News
From rough, bumpy and partially "grassless" greens to sand traps that were unplayable, Mountainview gets an "F", even though we are residents of the community. Bunkers were badly eroded, water-logged, concrete hard and appeared as though they had not been attended for a long, long time. There was one good thing....the "greens" held, but that was due to wetness, not good conditioning.
Interesting greens
Putting was interesting. The greens Bermuda grasses had not filled in leaving area of sparseness. May be better in a few weeks. Bunkers are not being maintained.
Good value, good course, not a lot of shade.
Pristine tee areas, fairways are great, greens need a little work unless they were just aerated.
Good value.
Course overall is in fair condition. The greens are in better shape than the rest of the course. Hard to maintain conditions at this altitude year around. Staff very friendly, nice driving range and practice facilities. Good grill although it was closed on Sunday afternoon when we played.
Lots of wildlife viewing including, deer, coyotes, and road-runners during our round. Beautiful mountain views (Mountainview, go figure).
I was quite pleased with the course!
Very green and the greens were great! Saw 18 deer while we played! Nice and quiet, great views! I will come back to this course in the future!
