MountainView Country Club
About
MountainView Golf Club at Saddlebrooke sits at an elevation of 3,200 feet, offering both dramatic elevation changes and spectacular views. The course sits at the base of the Catalina Mountain range near Tucson, nestled into the mesquite-covered foothills. Gary Panks, the golf course's designer, saw the potential of the landscape and utilized the many natural hazards. He also incorporated subtle mounding and strategically placed bunkers that blend seamlessly into the natural terrain. Panks created a fair challenge with this layout but the wide, player-friendly landing areas makes the golf course approachable for beginners. The second hole is one of the most scenic holes on the course but it is also one of the layout's more difficult holes. Golfers will find a mesquite-filled wash crossing the fairway before facing an uphill shot to a green guarded by trees and bunkers.

I'll play there again!
Great variety of holes and very challenging! The greens were in excellent shape and very firm. I was a little worried about pace of play with the shotgun start but it was not a factor. Also a little cooler there than down in Tucson.
This course is fun
This is a favorite course of mine because it is very forgiving to the average golfer. It was in excellent shape, the pace of play was less than 4 hours and it was not overcrowded. The course does a good job of pacing tee times so the group ahead of you has time to clear the hole before the next group tees off.
course is in great shape
I was disappointed that when we made the turn after nine holes around 3:30 pm that the restaurant/snack bar was closed and the water station was out of cups. :( When it's 95 degrees out water is a necessity on the golf course.
A windy day at Mt. Veiw
Good course and a good price.
I'll be back ......when it is not so windy.
Thank you

We had a threesome reserved. They allowed a single to join us who had someone riding with him. That made three carts on each hole. Therefore one cart had to stay on the cart path at each hole and made things very difficult. There were twosomes behind us that it would have been better to put the single with. The course should not put three carts together.
Lower your handicap
The physical address differs from the one on golf now, so finding the club house was an adventure. The 2 dollar bucket of balls is about 15 balls. The course is in great shape with firm greens that run on the fast side. Most fairways are Hilled on the edges so slightly off line shots funnel back towards fairway. 4 sets of tees to play 6000, 5000, 4000, 3000 for the 18 holes. Good restrooms, ice and water on course. No beer babe which suprized me. Marshal came by to check pace of play and gave us a couple of lost balls to adopt. Several short par 4's to try and drive. This course is on a hill so temp's slightly cooler. Golf, cart and lunch for under 50 works for me.
Desert golf at its best/worst
Hardest course I've ever played... even though I've played courses with slopes ten strokes higher! Almost every hole starts with a long forced carry over ball-eating desert terrain. Approach shots usually have to deal with the desert, with many holes leaving unplayable (and often unfindable) lies if you're slightly long or slightly off side to side. Greens were very fast (mostly - speed wasn't consistent) and undulating. And the wind - gusts up to 30 added another fun element as well as sucking 10 degrees out of the temperature. Simply not a course for high handicappers, a slog rather than fun. Bring lots and lots and lots of balls. For 10-and-under players, it's probably a great track. Otherwise, play the forward tees (to reduce the carries) and leave the driver in the car (direction counts far more than distance on all but a handful of holes).
As good as it gets, almost
This course was in great shape. The tee boxes, fairways, and greens had no signs of dead grass and were in great condition.
The course plays short and isn't as hard as other desert courses, but that is ok with me. The pace of play was fast. We finished 18 in 3 hours 15 minutes from a 7:30 tee time start.
Bring your own beverage and snacks and prepare for a good day on the course. The "regulars" at this course know what they have on this scenic land and you should come play here too. I'd play here over most of the other courses in Tucson because of how well maintained they keep the property.
Great course in beautiful setting w mountain views
Super setting, good condition, friendly staff, and sunny skies to enjoy. Don't miss this great value.
Not in great comdition. Need to have players repair divots and pitch marks.
Divots everywhere on the greens. A single playing behind us was hitting four balls off the tee ( not that that is an issue), but he kept hitting into us. One or twice I can understand, but four strait tee shots!
great value and beautiful scenery!
Started the Friday round with a slightly confused older guy taking my cart, but after some negotiations with the pro shop received a new cart. The course was full, but these members (my guess) know how to keep play moving. Great scenery, saw some deer, had a birdie, had a quad and had a darn good time!
the course was in very nice condition
My partner and I played 18 holes; he shot a 90, his best game since moving to AZ and I shot a 111 my best a beginning golfer.
We enjoyed the lay of the differing fairways and greens.
The scenery is beautiful.
This was an average difficulty factor course with beautiful mountain views. It is built for members in that it has inadequate parking and poor signage for first time players. Also, there is no bag drop! Parking for private golf carts should not be in the general public lot. No room. I would go back though.
A good mix of holes, from easy to challenging. Fun to play for all levels of skill
Well managed and staff pretty attentive to their responsibilities
Nice course
Very nicely designed course which is kept in good condition although the sand traps are a bit firm (need more frequent raking). Greens role true and are reasonably fast.
It was a beautiful day in the foothills.
We enjoyed our round. It was a little slow due to an earlier tournament, but the course was in good shape and the greens were well kept. The bunkers varied from one to another, some sandy, some 1-2 inches of sand before hardback. It's a crapshoot. Key here - stay out of the bunker. There is NO drinking water on the course and NO beverage cart. The restaurant closes at 1 PM so if you want lunch or anything bring it yourself. We started at 11:30 and told them we had never play there before. It would have been nice to know that before hand. We had snacks and water in the car.
Overall - very nice course and good views.
We will play here again.
Excellent value and great staff.
I would recommend this course, and the Preserve, for anyone wishing to book through GolfNow.com. It is an excellent value for the money. It is easy to use and very valuable to the traveler like me.
Challenging without being unfair. Nestled in the mountains.
played in 4 hors and that was with waiting on a few holes. course is interesting and the surrounding mountains are stunning.
This course is a good warm up tract for a vacationer, if you don't mind snobs behind the pro shop counter.
The course has adequate facilities. Course condition was average, greens not as smooth as I prefer, and slow.
