About
MountainView Golf Club at Saddlebrooke sits at an elevation of 3,200 feet, offering both dramatic elevation changes and spectacular views. The course sits at the base of the Catalina Mountain range near Tucson, nestled into the mesquite-covered foothills. Gary Panks, the golf course's designer, saw the potential of the landscape and utilized the many natural hazards. He also incorporated subtle mounding and strategically placed bunkers that blend seamlessly into the natural terrain. Panks created a fair challenge with this layout but the wide, player-friendly landing areas makes the golf course approachable for beginners. The second hole is one of the most scenic holes on the course but it is also one of the layout's more difficult holes. Golfers will find a mesquite-filled wash crossing the fairway before facing an uphill shot to a green guarded by trees and bunkers.

Some interesting holes and lots of deer.
Mountain View is a fun course to play. The fairways are in excellent condition and ready for the upcoming high season. The greens are slow and a little bumpy right now but should continue to improve each week reaching their optimum condition sometime in December.
Getting ready to overseed
The course was a little dry, but well maintained. I liked the play.
great veiws
nice course had a blast super fun great staff friendly
terrible condition--3 greens and 1 entire hole closed as well
course is poorly maintained--greens putt like blacktop
traps are almost as hard as blacktop--and when you see the "sand" they are adding to the traps you see why they are had--more like sort of fine dirt but not sand and it has small rocks in it well---3 greens were temp greens and 1 hole was closed--no warning on the website--sections of some fairways were essentially grassless---only one water stop on each nine---cheap-cheap-cheap
Greens need attention
11:45 tee time using Golfnow, so we got a good value. Had we paid more, I would have been less pleased because the greens were very difficult to putt. They were not cut and were terribly slow. Most of the greens held OK, but forget about making a birdie or par saving putt. It is not going to happen. Otherwise, the tee boxes and most of the fairways were in pretty good shape. Playing around noontime, the pace of play was quite good.
Course needs work.
Lots of bare dirt patches in most fairways and at least half the greens. Bunkers were awful. Full of water rivulets, animal tracks, hard and compacted sand.
Mountainview @ SaddleBrooke is Bad News
From rough, bumpy and partially "grassless" greens to sand traps that were unplayable, Mountainview gets an "F", even though we are residents of the community. Bunkers were badly eroded, water-logged, concrete hard and appeared as though they had not been attended for a long, long time. There was one good thing....the "greens" held, but that was due to wetness, not good conditioning.
Interesting greens
Putting was interesting. The greens Bermuda grasses had not filled in leaving area of sparseness. May be better in a few weeks. Bunkers are not being maintained.
Good value, good course, not a lot of shade.
Pristine tee areas, fairways are great, greens need a little work unless they were just aerated.
Good value.
Course overall is in fair condition. The greens are in better shape than the rest of the course. Hard to maintain conditions at this altitude year around. Staff very friendly, nice driving range and practice facilities. Good grill although it was closed on Sunday afternoon when we played.
Lots of wildlife viewing including, deer, coyotes, and road-runners during our round. Beautiful mountain views (Mountainview, go figure).
I was quite pleased with the course!
Very green and the greens were great! Saw 18 deer while we played! Nice and quiet, great views! I will come back to this course in the future!
Excellent intermediate course and value
THis is a great high intermediate golf course...enough of a challange but does occasionally "reward " the average golfer. It is also in prettty good shape !
one of my favorites now
great course to play/ does not beat you up/ but a good challenge/ had a great time and will be back
THis course was great with the views to equal the greatness
Great play and very nice condition, even after a downpour!
Mountain View a delightful course with great mountain views
Greens had been punched recently so putts were a trial. Course in great condition. Sprinklers were on at some of the greens and fairways not a problem though. Golfed with three guys I didn't know... had an excellent time. Which is my usual experience for any of the Saddlebrooke courses and why booking a single slot is never a problem. Plus the price was definitely right. Another plus there is plenty of iced water on the course and at the turn.
the course has great features and challenging holes
The course was in good shape considering that they just aerated it recently. The greens rolled consistently.
Course was just punched including the greens
Course was a little dry, good roll on the ball. Greens very slow due to recent punching.
