West at Orangebrook Country Club
About
Orangebrook Country Club in Hollywood boasts two 18-hole courses, the East and the West. The golf courses are about equal in difficulty but each offers a different set of challenges. The West Course was added over 20 years after the original East Course, which was built in the 1930s. This newer layout has more water hazards and there are also several massive bunkers treacherously lurking about the greensides. The challenging elements are nicely balanced by wide-open, player-friendly fairways and small greens with few breaks. The golf course is overall very forgiving but it offers interesting risk-reward opportunities that will appeal to players of all skill levels. In addition to the two golf courses, Orangebrook C.C. boasts extensive practice facilities that include a spacious lighted driving range with distance markers and a practice bunker.

Best Course in Town for the money
First time unfortunately it rain but we were able to play the 9 holes, definitely will come back.
Orangebrook West
The staff, layout and fairways were very good. The rough was shorter than the last time I played there. My only complaint is that there were a few greens in bad shape but most were good enough to make a decent effort. Overall I would still recommend this course unless you’re really serious about your score.
Worst Greens Ever
Fairways were OK, Tee boxes too
The greens were horrendous. Barely any grass at all. The surface was dried out, bumpy. See attached picture
Got to the point putting was just a waste of time.
Hard to judge a score when you can’t even putt
Getting worse
I played the west course a few times l'atelier and it is getting worse every time I go. It is not to be recommeded. The greens are in very bad shape.
Manage your expectations
Contrary to information there is no practice range here and what they say passes for a chipping and putting green is more like the moon landing. You pass high tention wires and loads of construction before you get to what you don't believe is a clubhouse.. lol.. while the morning pro shop taff were not the friendliest and it's pretty clear it's a locals mostly golf course.. the starters and guys who work the course were awesome friendly and made up for the pro shop. As for the course itself, I would say it's pretty wide open and once out on the course you can forget the start of your day.. there are some decent hole layouts but not an over challenging course by any stretch.. but I don't think that's their demographic either.. with those honest expectations you will have a nice day and lose very few balls during your round . Greens are maybe a 3 out of 10 . On the day I played in April, they were still trying to clear up some issues with green blythe.. with some care it could be a good casual golf option . Just manage your expectations . The locals that come here are super nice and makes up for most other shortcomings.
Is it possible to have a crédit we only had 3 players instead of 4
Good Value, But Needs Better Maintenance
I recently played this course and came away with mixed feelings.
The layout itself is interesting and somewhat challenging. The fairways are on the narrower side, which adds difficulty, and there are several water hazards along with visible wildlife that make certain parts of the course quite scenic. At times, it can be a really enjoyable experience.
However, the course conditions leave room for improvement. It feels a bit neglected overall, and while it’s playable, it would benefit greatly from more consistent maintenance and attention to detail.
The biggest issue by far was the condition of the greens. They were in very poor shape—uneven, inconsistent, and frankly frustrating to putt on. It got to the point where our foursome agreed to play “two-putt max” on every green just to keep the round enjoyable.
What was also disappointing is that this is not disclosed anywhere during the booking process. I only noticed similar comments in reviews after making the reservation, which was non-refundable, so there was no option but to play it out. This lack of transparency definitely affects the overall experience.
The facilities are noticeably outdated and seem to have been maintained at a basic level rather than properly renovated. This impacts the overall feel of the place.
As for the staff, the experience was inconsistent—some were friendly and welcoming, while others were not particularly engaging.
That said, I paid around $65, and at that price point, you do get reasonable value for what you pay.
Would I return? I’m not entirely sure. If I found another course at a similar price with better conditions, I would likely choose that instead.
Greens Very bad conditions
Greens are in very very bad conditions since monthe ago. The fairways and roughts are ok but the greens and greens side are very bad.
Great course BUT.......
I play here a fair amount and I really like the course. The course lacks some TLC. The greens have gotten horrible, lots of bare spots making it difficult to putt.
They changed #18 from a wonderful par 5 ending over a pond to a par 4 barely 250-260 yards. Somewhat anticlimactic and boring. Maybe if the green was back a little further it would have been more challenging as you would need a accurate shot to the green.
Greens
These where the worst greens I have ever played, Most greens had no grass or bare spots and if there was grass they were like putting on shag carpet
Decent track but greens were gross
I was looking for a cheap late afternoon tee time. They delivered on that. Not a bad place to hit a ball but when you got to the green it was sad. Chewed up burnt patches everywhere. The good news was that it didn’t affect the speed too much but was rather plinko-esque when it came to direction.
So Disappointing
Played the west course and it was in sub par shape. Greens were lousy, bald spots everywhere, no ball washers, even though you could see where they used to have them. Someone I played with told me the greens on the east course were in worse shape, which is hard to believe. Save your money.
Course is in bad shape
The greens were bad. Almost half of each green had no grass. They were so slow you couldn’t get to the hole putting with a driver.
Played it two weeks ago and it was in decent shape. Don’t know what happened in such a short period of time.
Tough day on the course
I play here a lot but due to the heavy rain they had to close the East course. They had to shuffle to get people on the West course which really backed things up. Not much they could do about it. Very Slow play until people began to throw in the towel and leave. The back 9 pace of play did pick up.
The greens are in bad shape, lots of bare spots.
