Hollywood Beach Golf & Country Club
About
Hollywood Beach Golf & Country Club offers a championship course where you can enjoy a private and secluded setting free of homes anywhere near the fairways, tees, or greens. Donald Ross originally designed the golf course in 1924. It has a classic layout that has withstood the test of time to become one of the area's most popular public courses. Seasoned golfers will find that the course is not the most challenging but it is good for a casual round that will still keep you on your toes. The course is tight, requiring a fair amount of accuracy. There are not many hazards but there are some and they are very strategically placed. The layout is player friendly enough to accommodate a range of skill levels and the affordable rates make Hollywood Beach Golf & Country Club doubly appealing.

Good course
First time we played here, enjoyed the course & the food was great!
Very unhappy with the fact that we came across only 2 Water fountains on the whole 18 hole course and both were not functioning properly.
They were both plugged in, but they did not dispense cold water. It was a huge disappointment as the weather was nice & hot.
don ross
look i am of the opinion, if you love the game , you play as many of the old courses you can ...1924..that's old right ?!?
did not have the severe mounding of the greens that made ross's courses so unique in their challenge..and this course had been aerated recently...is it a sara bay
no... he designed sooo many ...and there is a lot of similarities to a number of other "public" ross courses i have been on ...but ,for 15.00 !!!
you absolutely have to do it
Very interesting to hear how knowledgable you are in the layout of the course and glad you found a great value for your round!
At least it was cheap
I was the 1st player of the day and played alone in less than 2 hours. The greens had been punched and were slow. They would have been slow anyway. They were Bermuda. Putting was like being in "Challenge Golf" or "The Big Three". The lay out was interesting, but not one I liked. The course had too many holes that duplicated each other. The par 3's were roughly the same distance from the black tees on most holes, 185-200. There were also some very annoying par 4's that had a water hazard about 215 to 240 from the tee box, all the way across the fairway. It took a perfect tee shot to lay up or to drive your ball over the hazard. I chose to lay up every time (3 holes like this I think) and was left with 200+ yards. I found this to be annoyingly tricked-up and the water hazards were not at all estheticly pleasing. They were totally placed and man made looking. As a result, of these water holes, the course played much longer than the distance on the scorecard. It also played long because it only had 2 par 5's that were about 470 from the tips, making it a par 70 course. The par 3's and 4's were elongated due to the shortened par 5's and there only being 2 of them. Also, the rough is penalizing and sometimes the grass in the rough is standard lawn grass.
The good thing about the course is that it is a throwback looking course, it does look and play like you're in Florida, it was cheap, and the staff is friendly.
Hollywood Beach is hapy to hear you got great customer service during your round but unfortunate you did not enjoy the layout. Maybe if you came back and played again it would change your perspective!
Tradition, maintained and value...
Visiting from out of state. Enjoyed the venue, friendly staff, course is maintained. Bunkers could use some additional sand. Biltmore feel at a fraction of the cost.
Hollywood Beach is thrilled to hear you enjoyed our course during your vacation! Come back and visit us the next time you are in town!
Simply put.......
Very good playing conditions......friendly staff......great value
Great simple and to the point comments about our course. We appreciate the review and glad you had an overall great time!
Get ready for a round in the weeds - everywhere
I couldn't believe how poorly conditioned this course was. An old Donald Ross gem has been let go badly.
Every tee box? Not grass, rather cut down weeds. Every fairway? Not grass, rather cut down weeds.
The greens were the only saving grace for this course.
The people in the pro shop were pretty rude. We arrived a little bit early and were told we couldn't check in until 3pm as we were booked at a twilight rate? I totally understand this if we were about to cut off others who were paying a higher price, but there wasn't another soul around (understandable given the conditions).
The extra 45 minutes were spent in the restaurant, which was the only highlight of the facility. Food was definitely decent though the prices for drinks were even a bit high.
I played seven round in Florida on this last trip and have probably played 50-60 different courses throughout the state over the years. This was by far the worst conditioned course of any that I played.
We trully apologize for the overall experience you had durin gyour round and for our 3:00 policy. The course is getting a well overdue make over soon. Please email me directly so we can discuss further at amandateetimes@gmail.com
Challenging
Good challenging course , water on couple par 4 makes the round very interesting . Lots of interesting wild life. Would play again
Glad to hear you caught the interesting wildlife during your round with us and enjoyed the layout. We would love to have you back as well!
Challenging design
I've been playing this course for years and and its still a challenge to this day. Great staff, super friendly and fun to talk to.
We appreciate your continued loyalty and glad you still enjoy the challenge. We would love to hear more about your thoughts on our facility as to why your rating was not higher and how we can improve. Please email me directly at amandateetimes@gmail.com
Fun course. Great layout
Played this course for the second time yesterday. Course was in pretty good shape. You can tell it just need more water due to south Florida not receiving much rain in the past month. Greens rolled true and fairways were great. Overall I would recommend this course especially for the price.
Hi Taylor,
Thank you for the great review and rating! We hope you were able to take in our picturesque course and you were able to leave the day-to-day distractions behind.
We hope to see you out on the greens at Hollywood Beach Golf & Country Club again soon.
Best Wishes,
Hollywood Beach Golf & Country Club Management
What a great course
Played a round here for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised. I avoided it in the past because there is no driving range, and I like to warm up before I hit the tees. I finally decided to give it a try, and I wasn't let down. The staff was very friendly, and the course was in great shape. This is an older course with a lot of charm. I will definitely be back!!
Hi Mixmoses,
Thank you for the great review and feedback. From the sounds of it you were able to take in the picturesque course that gives you an experience reminiscent of old Florida. We will share with our team the tip about the driving range and see what we can do for future improvements.
We hope to see you back here at Hollywood Beach Golf & Country Club again soon for another great round.
Best Wishes,
Hollywood Beach Golf & Country Club Management
great course
very nice course and it has holes that are a risk reward if you take on the challenge. very satisfied with the layout.
Glad to hear you were satisfied with the challenging layout and we hope to see you back!
hidden gem
Course layout challenging, but very forgiving.
Place needs a practice range.
Thanks for the hidden gem review!
Fun, a lot of water though
Great afternoon, had to deal with quite a bit of water on the course. Great for novice intermidiate golfers. Would definitely return to play.
We will be happy to have you back and hopefully it is with better weather conditions
Be prepared to wait
I paid for 18 holes, but left after only 9 because we were having to wait on every shot! The course was nice but be prepared to wait or to spend about 5 to 6 hours on a Saturday morning. Bottom line for me - not worth it.
Our apologies for the pace of play you experienced. Please email me directly to learn more about your round at amandateetimes@gmail.com
Classic Hollywood course
Old course with a lot of history (used to host PGA events back in the day, was remodeled years and years ago). Fun layout. Some tricky holes that are challenging off tee. Overall not in the best shape, but good enough and decent value. Grew up in the area, have played a lot of rounds there over the years. Will play there again when back in town.... For tradition sake, not because the course is outstanding. Clubhouse and grill/restaurant are old, I've never eaten there and probably never will.
This course has never held PGA events back in the day. It was designed by Donald Ross but Donald Ross never step foot on the property. None the less, the golf course is a good track that was fit into a small area
Great course for amateurs
Fairways are wide and most holes were slice happy friendly. I found the greens to be the most challenging. Overall price is plenty worth the visit. Play later as course is not as busy.
Happy to hear you enjoyed your round. Thank you for the recommendations!
I be back.
Thank you for all the attention for me I really enjoy play in your course. Soon I will be back.
Glad you enjoyed the great customer service and we will see you back. Please email me directly to discuss further at amandateetimes@gmail.com
Great Local Course
Great speed of play under three hours without the "Snow birds or Slow birds" thanks.
Highly recommended and great shape for South Florida.
Still needs driving range and short game with bunkers area.
Thank you for the great recommendation!
