Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club - South Course

Course was in great shape as usual; staff helpful;beautiful day; starter was friendly but could have been more forceful about combining groups; too many 2somes;contributed to slow round of 5 hours; busy day as well but didn't need to be as protracted; otherwise a first class faciluty.

This course is great ! Price is right . Maybe a private club. So play it now.

Played here on a Friday morning in a outing and had a blast. Was a little disappointed as I played the south course the previous Saturday with similar conditions expecting this time to be fixed. Many of the tee boxes were overgrown and needed a lot of love. For a course that charges at the least $50 with many times more depending on prime time play I was expecting much better conditions then what you would find at a county course. I have played here a couple times and outside of these last 2 recent times have had better experiences.

I played the south course last February and had to play it again. So far it's my favorite in the Dade City area. They recently over seeded but the course was still in nice shape.

Overall the course was pretty good. Bunkers could use some sand. Golf cart was not great (bad brake and old). Greens rolled pretty good and fairways were good. Once we played through one group the pace of play got better. Having played here occasionally over the past 10 years I guess it’s just not in quite as good of shape as it used to be. Starting to look a little more run down. Did get a great rate online so it was worth the money.

Had a great time on a challenging golf course. Great value with the golfnow discount.

Basically, the South course is in OK condition, not pristine as it was for a few years.The bunkers are in need of repair, an ongoing issue for the past 10 years.Sand is highly variable with many washouts and collapsed edges.The excuse that many are flashed does not hold up having played Southern Dunes recently.That course has flashed bunkers and they are immaculate.There were no washouts and the edges were neatly trimmed.The greens at LJ were not bad for summer greens.I think it is fair to say the course looks "tired" after 19 years of play.This is largely due to owners who think mediocre is good.Their apparent approach is to have more golfers at a cheap rate rather than a premium rate with less traffic.The day rate is less of what Southern Dunes charges.Southern Dunes is immaculate and Lake Jovita is not, which is a shame.It is clear why the PGA Tour stopped using LJ as a Q-school site.But,$35 a person is not a bad rate on a Monday when few people are on the course.

Great day at Lake Jovita. Staff was excellent. Only gripe would be that the holes were pushed way to hard into the ground creating an odd change in the level of ground around the pin. Also, staff I encountered on the turn didn’t know where to exchange the divot sand for the cart.

These two courses are excellent courses- both layout and condition. You won’t be disappointed in either one.

nice day of golf this course was on are top 5 list of course we played this year the greens where true the fairways where great the course was in great shape even for all the rain we had would like to play there again the price was a little high but great value if your in the area its worth playing

Course average and play very slow! Not a good value and as a result would not recommend

We met a friend from Ocala to play golf and we choose Lake Jovita. It was a beautiful day. We had a 12:15 tee time. We teed off on time. The course was in excellent condition. The greens were fast but sharp. The first hole on the south course was a tough start. Once we made the turn we encountered two slow foursomes in front of us. This made for a long round. I would play Jovita again. Nice layout, friendly staff and I played well. We did not eat at the restaurant or use the clubhouse.

Played Friday on the South Course for the first time ever! We come down every year from the cold North. This track reminded us like we were just at home, tight fairways that are guarded by trees, and small but beautiful greens. Staff was great from being greeted from dropping our bags off to being greeted by the young gentleman from Boston who gave us all the information we needed to know. "Don't worry about your score on the 1st hole" Will be back

I have yet to play at this course and not be questioned about our pace of play. We finished our round in exactly 4 hrs. It is always the .members...no one else. Otherwise a must play

Course was very fair would like to play again but we were on time but miss our tee time by twenty minutes because they said they ran out of golf carts

Our foursome had a great day, starting with the reception in the pro shop. We checked in early with the starter and since the tee was open, we got off 20+ minutes early. The course was in great shape, including sand in the bunkers and the greens were rolling true. The young lady on the cart was around twice during the round, the gentlemen at the cart return were pleasant and the service at the 19th hole was good as well. Thank you for another enjoyable experience.
