Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club - South Course
About
Although it is tucked away among rolling green hills and mature oaks, Lake Jovita Country Golf & Country Club is conveniently less than 30 minutes north of Tampa. The club offers two championship golf courses, the North and the South. The South Course, the original track at Lake Jovita, has a more traditional design than the other course. It features generous fairways and velvety-smooth greens. The layout weaves through lakes and ponds that into play on several holes. The course was built to fully utilize the hilly terrain, incorporating a variety of elevation changes throughout. The par-5 11th hole even features a 94-foot drop from tee to green, which is the largest natural elevation change in the entire state. It is one of Florida's "must-play" courses

Great value!!
Great value for afternoon play right after the time change.
Lake Jovita offers terrific golf at a great value
A terrific golf course for way less than $100 in peak season: That's the South Course at Lake Jovita, just outside Dade City and about 40 minutes north of Tampa. In short, this 36-hole hidden gem is well worth the drive. The South Course is the older of the two layouts, designed by Tom Lehman and Curt Sandness and opened in 1999. A real shotmaker's course that takes advantage of the natural rolling terrain, I really like the way both nines end around a common lake. The clubhouse is also spectacular, perhaps the largest in the area.
Great layout
Great layout, lots of water but doesn't really come into play I bet it's beautiful in season. I'll be back.
Great Day on the Course
A bit cool for Floridians on the day we played so it felt like we were the only ones on the course. The course was in great shape, the holes were varied and interesting, and the greens were fast and true. It was our foursomes first visit but we will definitely return. It was a great day.
Nice and laid back with style.
Very friendly staff with all of the amenities you could ask for in a country club. Relaxed atmosphere inside and on the course. Very challenging but not overwhelming. Highly recommend and will return.
Could be much nicer but course condition was poor.
Great potential but poor condition. Nice facility.
South course is a good and challenging course
Lake Jovita Golf Club is a very good venue. The courses ( South & North) are not typical Florida courses. Elevation changes make for challenging golf shots, and scenic views. The 11th hole (signature hole) has Saint Leo University as back drop at tee box. Your tee shot to green is a reported 95 foot natural drop!
A Hidden Gem
Played this course several times over the last decade. It's well out of the way from where I live and normally play but its the best residential course I have played under $100 a round. it would be difficult to complain. Wide fairways, a zillion bunkers, nice speedy greens...what's not to like.
Good Course but damaged greens
I like Lake Jovita. I tend to favor the North Course a bit but played the South Course yesterday. It is a nice layout and plenty challenging for a 10 handicapper. Tee to green was in pretty good shape but quite a few of the greens had damaged areas. The parts of the greens that were not damaged rolled pretty true, but found myself moving the ball to avoid green damage.
PS: They also were out of score cards? Hope this is not an indicator or anything.
Worst conditions I've ever seen this course in!!!
I have played this venue many times in the past. It has always been one of my favorites. I have always been a great marketer for this place. At least try to get there once every month or two. When I went last weekend I couldn't believe what sorry condition the South course was in. Staff not very friendly at all in pro shop either. I have heard that from many others in the past also. The course looked like it was under watered, dry and bare greens, and very poor overall condition. Not sure about the North Course but I will not be back until I know the course is in much better condition. What a shame. I only wish that I had taken pictures to show what it has been in the past and what it is now. Soooo sad!
EXCELLENT COURSE
NORTH COURSE IS IN GREAT CONDITION. REQUIRES
THE LONG CLUBS FOR A LOTTA SHOTS.
Great layout, but horrible greens
Love the layout of the Lake Jovita South Course, but it seems no matter when I come the greens are hampered by aeration holes. I read a review from 2 weeks ago that mentioned that greens were just aerated, so I thought they'd be healed by now, but they were still absolutely horrible to putt on. The only thing that made it bearable for me was that I only had to pay the GolfNow.com deal of the day price.
Beautiful course
The course is awesome and the staff is very friendly plus the cart girl might be the most beautiful girl in the world
Not Impressed
I was really disappointed to say the lease in the course. I have heard for so long how this course was so nice, so I drove an hour and a half to play and was not impressed. The greens were in pretty bad shape, with brown spots and huge bare spots in the green. The fairways were decent, but for the money I would never play there again.
Great layout with great potential.
I've lived in the Bay Area for two years now and have played some quality courses including Old Memorial and Palma Ceia. This was my favorite layout thus far. This course allowed me to pound away with the driver and attack every par 5. It was refreshing as many courses in the area don't leave the risk-reward opportunity up to the player (instead the designers almost force power hitters tone it down). The greens were charred and relatively average, but the potential is there to be a championship course. I enjoyed the elevation changes and the peaceful vibe I got playing this course.
average at best
a nice course, not the best for one of this reputation.traps were horrible, greenside were like hitting golf balls at the beach, way too hard to get club under ball.greens were slow and inconsistent, maybe due to recent plugging.fairways were good.this course is heralded as better of the two,but i found the north course more scenic and fun to play.this course is more prior knowledge playable
nice view
I played the south course and overall it was in good shape. Some of the greens had some ruff spots on them but the majority of them were good. I got a hot deal for $35 and I would say it was worth that price, however I wouldn't want pay much more than that considering the courses current conditions. Fairways were good and so were the tee boxes. Staff was very friendly and helpful. If you have to pay full price for lake jovita I would say save your $ and go to World Woods up the road in Brooksville
Firm greens
Great layout, tee boxes and fairway are in great shape, but the greens are to firm, no hold on in coming shots, chips were tough on those greens, don't believe they were like this, past times playing... greens cost me 10 strokes....
Great track
Of the 15 or so courses I've played in Orlando and Tampa, this has to be one of my favorites. Tough course with quick greens, but in great shape. I would definitely play here again.
Slick greens
Slick greens but in great shape. Wish group in front had known what the rakes were for
