Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club - South Course
About
Although it is tucked away among rolling green hills and mature oaks, Lake Jovita Country Golf & Country Club is conveniently less than 30 minutes north of Tampa. The club offers two championship golf courses, the North and the South. The South Course, the original track at Lake Jovita, has a more traditional design than the other course. It features generous fairways and velvety-smooth greens. The layout weaves through lakes and ponds that into play on several holes. The course was built to fully utilize the hilly terrain, incorporating a variety of elevation changes throughout. The par-5 11th hole even features a 94-foot drop from tee to green, which is the largest natural elevation change in the entire state. It is one of Florida's "must-play" courses

Lines on the greens after being punched. Difficult to putt with these grabbing the ball as it rolled into them. Photo submitted by bvmagic on 05/30/2016
cost versa conditions
I have played a lot of courses in the Tampa area and found this to be a very high priced course for the condition compared to others. We did have fun playing the courses but still the cost was a turn off
Beautiful course
Great course. If you can play in the rain, you will have the course to yourself.
Awesome and challenging layout, yet very fair
I would recommend this golf club to anyone looking to play a round of golf in the greater tampa area - it will not disappoint.
Challenging and long
Fine course and not typical for Florida golf.....lots of elevation change and woods come into play on many holds. Wet conditions so it played long...consider moving up a tee if you incounter similiar conditions.
Excellent layout with very fast greens
Friendly staff. Very fast greens and water and trees coming to play on every hole. Very difficult course with great risk/reward shots. Overall great test of golf.
Jovita South
Great course as usual. Stopped at the snack bar at1:00 for a hot dog. We were told that it would be 30 plus minutes before any would be ready. The cart girl came by twice and only had diet drinks. We asked why she said they told her it would be a light day. For what it cost to play it was pathedic. Other than that still a great place.
South Course
Visiting from Virginia, looking for courses out of the ordinary, this was on the okay list. Nothing to write home about.
fun holes
Great course, a lot of great scoring chances but challenging. Always in great shape
South Course. Very scenic course. Large, sloping greens are very fast.
The South course is a very scenic course with woods, water, elevation changes and the overall landscaping. I prefer the South course instead of the North course due to this fact.
Fairway are relatively wide but with many fairway bunkers. Must consider this on many drives. Par 5's have fairway bunkers in play on the first and second shots. For the holes on hills, need to consider the fairway roll which can be significant due the close cut fairways.
Greens are very large, sloping and very fast....none are flat. "Below the hole" is a good recommendation to remember.
This is an enjoyable course.
Lake Jovita
I embarrassed myself here, however, still beat shopping! Great golf course. Greens are tough to read, but roll true.
Great course
Awesome course . I played the suth curse and shot 81 + 9 from the pro tees and I'm almost a scratch handicap ....so this will tell you what kind of course your getting into !!!!
Greens are super fast and the ball rolls perfectly just like a billiard table !
Outstanding experience and one of the most difficult courses I've ever played !!!
Great value if booked through golfnow.com!
First time I played the course. It had a "Pro" feel to it throughout the entire round. Greens were especially hard, but, none the less, fun! For a top flight course, the second cut and further off, were a touch sandy. My only gripe was the box for divot sand was almost empty sans, the lone beer can in it. All being said, it was a fun course to play and I will return to play the north course when I spy another great buy on golfnow!
Great value for the golf experience
Excellent course in great condition. Had a great time and did not get rushed while playing the course.
Disappointing. Not the conditioning one has come to expect from Lake Jovita
Having played Lake Jovita South many times in the past, our group was disappointed to find the conditioning of the course from tee to green to be fair at best. I am certain that weather has been a factor, but the weed creep which was first noticed last year at this time has accelerated. Bottom line, not the Lake Jovita of 3-4 years ago. I asked a neighbor who played the North the same day about the conditions there and his response was, "It was OK"
Top Notch Course
A beautiful course well-maintained; replete with diverse holes, greeens that are fast and true. Even has some elevation changes. A delight to play. The Golfnow price made it a bargain, but in-season rates are high. Great restaurant. Yuengling for $2.50!
Awesome course
Greens being aerated but even so great round. Recommend for average to advanced player.
Good course
Very good track, well-maintained, only thing I can recommend is that being a 10+yr old course they should have a marker at the tee that maps out the hole so that our group did not have to ride forward to see what lay ahead. Also, finding yard markers was difficult as there weren't any other then those on the sprinkler heads. For the money, we expected to have GPS on the carts. But other then that, the course was in great condition and did well to provide water! It was hot and muggy when we played.
Good test in good shape
The staff will make you want to come back and play this course many times
I would not recommend this course to anyone.
We have a lot better courses in the Brooksville area to play. I do not intend to ever play this course again, it is about twice as much to play as in our area so my brother and I thought we would give it a try but the both of us said never again.
TOUGH!!!
I finally after almost a decade got to play this course. It is one of the nicest courses I have ever played. It has tons of elevation changes, water and trees. I can see why everyone loves this course. Several of the T-boxes had no grass on them. Several of the greens had bare spots on them. Overall this is a beautiful course, so I assume what I experienced was the results of a very dry winter. There were no rangers which explain the slow rate of play. My partner and I played the front 8 holes in just over an hour not seeing anyone in front of us until the 9th hole. Then we came up on a foursome that wouldn't let us play through so ended up playing an over 4 hour round.(ouch)
